Another day another bunch of guinea pigs dropped off at the Nation's largest dedicated guinea pig rescue.
Found last night on someones doorstep in an extremely filthy cage and obvious state of neglect. Watch as Saskia does their intake and discusses the various health issues and challenges these girls are facing.

I cant understand how anyone can mistreat animal's. If you can't look after them then don't buy them! Period! Xx
Thank You guys for taking these babies in. Each and everyone of these babies are loved by you and your volunteer's. In the time that the piggies pass through your hands. Are better in the end. Piggies, owners, TH-cam fans, for it.

I think my older pig is getting used to me watching Saskia's videos. Whenever she starts talking, he comes out of his cave to come see. Great videos by the way, they help a lot and it's great to see the piggies being well cared for!

I'm so sorry for these beautiful piggies. Saskia will give them tender care. They are lucky that they were brought in to the rescue.
Oh no, the second one is in such a poor shape. I had some old girls too - both had cataracts and eventually went deaf, they also got arthritis - but they both lived to be 8 years old. I always wish any guinea pig could have a life as good as they did.
However, I'm glad you are there to help. It's such a wonderful channel. Keep up the great work!

Guys, it wouldn't hurt to get a microphone, Saskia's voice is kind of low when someone else is filming. Those piggies are going to be just fine now that they are save with you
Yes, a clip-on microphone would be nice, or they could work on captions for the videos instead of having auto-generated captions. If you have headphones or earbuds, it's much easier to hear them, though ^^ I can bet those piggies are much happier in their new home!

Where I live there is no vet that knows anything about piggies so I watch your channel to learn just in case something happens like stones, cysts, etc. My very first pig suffered horrendously at the hands of a veterinarian practice that specifically states they treat animals like pigs but they know nothing.

the senior passed away sadly, most likely due to cancer of her reproductive system
first piggie got her cyst and kidney stones removed and is doing good as of the update on their Facebook !

Thanks for doing these videos. They have really given me more confidence to do health checks on my piggies. I have 2 that are really skittish and i have a hard time picking them up without chasing them around the cage so I have been reluctant to do health checks on them. Last night i did their nails and cut one too short. It bled a lot. used cornstarch to help stop it. That was from one of your videos too!
Practice practice - good job for doing it! It is not too big of a deal if you nip the quick and just feels like a pinch to the piggie but keep at it, you will get better.

The older piggy was so cute, just the way she was trying to look up at you and how she let you do everything melted my heart. I'm living with my daughter after my marriage ended, and had to rehome my guinea pig Punkin (Her long Peruvian hair made her look like she had a mohawk like a punk rocker) and my budgie who I'd had from 6 weeks old. I miss them terribly, and when I get my own home, I'm going to adopt two guinea pigs, and now I know how to give them the best possible care, and a wonderful life ( they'd be absolutely spoiled anyway), all thanks to you Saskia. I take my hat off to your dedication to these beautiful little bundles of love.

yes I have seen nails like this very filthy piggies. the worst ones a pair of Peruvian boys I tried everything but could not save them. they had cancer.

aww poor babies second girl was alot less reactions when holding her even though blind she is beautiful weird that just dumped on door step that needs pulling out as its oxidi when it burst and turned into rock aww second girl breaks my heart she needs some cuddles and love and kept comfortable in time she is given im glad they found you and thankyou to person who found them

I wish I had known about some of this information when I was younger! I adopted several (not at the same time:-)) from the local Cavy rescue... Guinea pigs are so adorable!

You are awesome taking care of these girls like this! You are the best! I commend you for taking such good care of these sweethearts! I have 6 of them (5 boys and a girl) and if I ever left them like this I would be turned into the police by my own parents! I love my babies and they are my world! I would never let my piggies get that way!

Rock on Saskia, rock on! One of mine I got from a family who didn't want him... the nails were even longer than that. Eventually they curl back around like little Cheetos.

Ow! One of my first rats got an abscess from a cut he got sneezing while grooming himself (accidentally spiked himself with his nail -- he was special) and it was horrible to drain it once it finally opened up. The other rats kept wanting to lick it clean though, which was so gross even though my rat vet said it was normal behavior 😬

It's called keratin inside of those cyst. Usually when they're on the head they're pilar cyst. Those cyst are contained in a really thick sack that looks like an olive. If you get that out and scrub the edges of the wound to refresh them, they usually heal quite well. But if there's a huge space that was taken up and once deflated there's a gap, you can wrap that area tight pushing it down to the underlying tissue and it will heal from the inside out and it keeps the wound from filling back up. You're doing amazing work!

The old lady, this brakes my heart! I don't see how anyone could neglect their animals!! I could never!! But it happens more than we know.. just wish people would surrender their pets before rock bottom..
