1:32 I believe that very top sign said the region or something which would have been useful. Oost Vlanderen meaning East Flanders I believe.

Yes the top sign mentions the province of Oost-Vlaanderen.

At 4:51 - the place is Patignies, borough of Gedines. This sign (white with the contours of a city in black and its name) is a traffic sign btw, it indicates you are leaving (crossed out in red) the built-up area and the end of a 50 km/h zone. The sign at 13:53 (yellow with a red band) is not a traffic sign, but a regular city boundary sign (it's exactly at the city limit).

13:23 That is a standard Belgian city name sign you were looking at! It's the same in the Dutch, French and German speaking parts of the country. So the place is called Eisden, which borough of the municipality of Maasmechelen. The small font always indicates the actual city name, and the larger font the borough (if there is one).

It's so nice looking at an american being able in 2 seconds to distinguish the differences between the norden and southern part of Belgium, not taking the language parameter into account :D

For an american its Defenitely very good :p but to be fair, the north and the south are quite easy to seperate on geoguessr. It's not that difficult to tell if you are in flanders or wallonia when you get a picture. The north is way more build up and even the nature looks more 'central' or 'structured' for the lack of a better word, while the south looks way more rural, it looks a lot like france. Only when you are in a bigger city and don't see language, it may be difficult

The way that the town signs work is that the bigger name(Patignies) is the actual place name and the smaller name(Gedinne) is the municipally that rules over it.

A barred sign means "end of" town, speed restriction, road works, etc ...
A yellow sign with a red border and black text indicates a town border with eventually the larger municipality it is part of.
A white sign with a black border, text and eventually a graphic of a town panorama indicates you are entering the built-up part of the mentioned town (with even more restrictive speed limits).

The white sign with a red line means you are leaving the centre of the town. The name on top is the name of the village you are leaving, the name on the bottom is the municipal the town belongs to.

The antenna is usually on the back of the car, so it points to where the car came from! Can be a useful trick but it didn't help in round 1 hahaha

Cool video, with the Liège one you should've triangulated the starting location with the buildings! Small streets on Google Maps are notoriously unreliable.

Bikes = Flanders = the North half of Belgium. It's not perfect but if you check bikeroads you'll see that the dutch bikeroads simply continue in the Northern part of Belgium with very little of it being in the South part.

Been a few times in Belgium. Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels to name a few places I visited. Belgium has it's own charm alright. Can't wait for your Netherlands round.
