Should retrain "old" soldiers with current weapons, esp. the assault rifle. The earlier batches of NS men handled the AR15 and later the M16. These "older" volunteers can be very useful in times of war, ready to handle new weapons. You never know when you need these "extra" men 😁
if it comes to that.... there's JIT (just in time) training that can be done. SAR-21 technical handling can be taught in like 20 minutes. Anyway, tons of old M-16 kept somewhere for sure.

The US allows fresh recruits to crew an Abrams and send them for field tests. Same goes for live firing. Just like our food, water and military equipment, everything comes from overseas. The Leopard tank showcased in this video is bought from Germany. Tanks and Aircraft are mainly cleaned and rearmed by NSmen. And Regulars are ones that crew all the expensive equipment. And before you say "But NSmen will break every equipment". That is why SAF Regulars lack leadership.
tanks still have their place on the battlefield, a mobile 120/125mm cannon is still an incredibly powerful asset , whether direct or indirect fire . Now the next tank race isnt who can build the next tank with the biggest gun or best armor, its going to be active protection system and anti drone warfare assets like what we're seeing with the KF-51 black panther.
Having these top notch equipment is to act as a deterrence. I am glad that we did not need to enter battle as the region is relatively peaceful. End of the day, diplomacy is still importance and you need a safe environment for investor and to raise family. Think of it as a premium for an insurance.

They're not stupid, Singapore was the 2nd adopter of drone warfare after Israel. IIRC, their SOP is to use helicopters to hunt down drones while the tanks advance.

Armored vehicles designed according to Western doctrine are often quite large and heavy, making them a lucrative target for anti-tank weapons and UAVs. Can they withstand RPG 7, not to mention RPG 29, and other models? new style.
Most things can withstand RPG-7 these days, RPG-7s are very old and people have designed defences against them long ago. Most of the kills you see of western tanks are not RPG kills but rather things like Kornet or Mentis, very heavy anti-tank missiles rather than light RPGs. If you see a missile spiraling towards a target, it's a beam riding ATGM, RPGs go straight in.
