Ah fingers indeed another banger❤ I’ve seen the 1907 high relief omega in a ślad going for $6k. I believe the counterfeit coins have a place in everyone’s hearts . The time it took to make em is mind blowing
This video was recommended to me after watching an Acousha Collectibes video, your knowledge is appreciated and I respect the way you tackled this subject. A well earned subscription!
Excellent update video. I would always say, fakes should be removed from being resold as genuine. There are also collectors who buy fakes when gold is same or higher than it should be for said coins
Excellent Video. You explained this topic very well. Do you think any counterfeits slipped by NGC or PCGS back in the 90's? Rattler or Old Green Holders? Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Thank you for shedding light on this important topic. Do you ever use tooling marks or other diagnostics to determine genuine vs. counterfeit? I tried, and was quickly convinced that all my pre-33 was fake!
Thanks! I've tried using tooling marks and the eagle tail feathers, too. I'm just not sure what I'm seeing is definitive. The biggest red flag for me is if the coin is a high grade of uncirculated--which is also not definitive.
The basic unit like mine is right about $1000. They also have more advanced units that run about $1500 to $2000. Search for Sigma Metalytics. You may find them cheaper through some of their distributors. And don't forget to check eBay for those distributors, too. Often they'll be discounted, offer free shipping, etc. Just make sure it's a legit account selling them.
That has got to be one of the most informed, concise, and educational videos on this subject I will ever encounter on this utube.
Salute!
Thanks, SS! Glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate the comment, too!
Valuable counterfeit content

Hi Dub-C, thank you for the vlog! I enjoyed your storied explanation on how the counterfeit came about. I thought you were speaking from experience.
Thanks, Miles. And thanks for watching!
Great video Dub-C!
Troy McClure! I remember you from such videos as Stacking Mexican Silver volume 3!

I’m on the hunt for an excellent counterfeit $5 & $10 gold Indian. I love stuff like that and own a number of authentic examples.

Glad you liked it. I have an irrational fear of a genuine coin being mistaken for a fake and being melted! But overall I agree.
Drake video I would love to have one of those counterfeit Indians to make into a coin ring

@@MrExplorer05 That's a great question! I doubt any slipped through. But it's possible!

Because I ran across one of these fakes, I stay clear of all of them. I only stack modern day Buffalos and then only after I check them on my Sigma.
A wise position!
