    It's ok if you take your time to make new videos. I'm sorry for the situation you're going through with your father. It's normal to make space for you and him. No matter how long it takes to make more new videos, we'll be there.

    💯 100k subscribers, any day now! Get ready to claim your silver TH-cam plaque! 🎉 I've been a subscriber for like 13 years, btw... Maybe longer. 2009-2011 was when I first read, listened to and watched professor Arguelles' advice and channel. And I have watched at least 85% of the videos; many multiple times.
    P.s. My sincerest condolences for your loss. I look forward to hearing about your best memories with your father.

    Luke Ranieri recommends a whole slew of things to read after Familia Romana to get you ready for Roma Aeterna - starting with the Colloquia Personarum and Fabulae Syrae, then, in any order: the Sermones Romani, the interlinear versions of Plautus's Amphytiro and The Gallic War, and the Epitomae Historiae Sacrae. Quite the undertaking!

      There is a excel file floating around the internet entitled Latin reading list (Beginner to Advanced) that lists this kind of thing. There is no need to do them all before Roma Aeterna, but it would be most profitable to do something in between the two parts.

    Hello, professor. I'm so sorry for your loss. It feels awful. This is my first time commenting here. I've been watching some of your videos and it is absolutely admirable the amount of dedication to language larning, you're truly an inspiration of non-stop obsession for language learning and pursuing passions. What a joy to watch your videos! Impressive and keep going. I can't just belive that you don't have more subscribers with all the powerful insights you give and instead many other fake polyglots with poor language skills and lots of desire for fame have much more, whereas goldmines such as your channel, Luca Lampariello's, Richard Simscott don't have as much. Anyways, it is such a pleasure to watch you. Keep on keeping on! P.S - Do you have any advice regarding switching languages in one's head, techniques to train this, maybe? I always feel that I need a minute or more of "processing/loading" before being able to fully switch for example from english to french with all the accents and everything with proficency, otherwise, If I switch fast in conversation I get confused and I just don't have enought time to reprocess the full settings of the next language. ¡Saludos de un cubano!

    Thank you for making videos on Latin learning! I’m currently making my way through Lingua Latina + Colloqvia Personarvm (extended readings) + Exercita on a daily basis. :)
    Side note: as someone else mentioned Luke Ranieri was kind enough to make an in-depth reading list in Latin and listed several books that fit nicely between Familia Romana and Roma Aeterna. Funnily enough he just posted a “Shadowing” video around 7 hours ago and praised you quite a bit in his latest video. 😊

    I personally used Wheelock’s Latin Grammar Reader only when learning Latin and just learned vocabulary from reading dual language books from the Loeb Classical Library, The DumbertonOaks Library and the I Tatti Renaissance Library. I personally cannot understand why someone would spend time trying to learn to speak and listen to Latin because the only place where you could use it is in Catholic sermons. I am open to a change of mind though.

    • @ruralsquirrel5158
      @ruralsquirrel5158 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      There actually is a very large and active global community of Latin speakers, outside of the Catholic church. Just like there are Klingon, Elvish, and Esperanto clubs and organisations, Latin has its place and passionate followers. Personally, when learning languages, I like to learn to pronounce or "speak" them, if only to myself, because I learn vocabulary and comprehension faster not just seeing words, but also having them "in my ear". It also helps me to put the vocabulary into my long-term memory.

    • @ProfASAr
      @ProfASAr  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The way you are thinking about this, although widespread, is, I believe, misconceived. Learning to think and converse in Latin is not time/energy/money wasted on features you don't need; rather, the ability to read it well is predicated upon these, and so by avoiding them, you are ultimately making the task of reading Latin more difficult and time consuming.
