This interview gives me some more confidence in Solo, he clearly has a reverence for Westerns and 70s cinema. Pretty important when trying to nail a character like Han Solo.

When he did this interview, had Alden already started the Solo auditions? Curious as to where this falls within the Star Wars timeline. I thought he was amazing as Han Solo and his scene with Ralph Fiennes in Hail, Caesar is hilarious. I have yet to see Rules Don’t Apply but he seems to have considerable range and I look forward to seeing great new roles for him moving forward.
So it looks like the casting shortlist for Han Solo had been announced around Jan 2016.

I was trying to place this in the timeline as well. :) From what I know about the dates, it seems to me that he might still have been in the middle of auditioning for Solo. The shortlist was announced around January 2016 so I assume he still didn't know for sure?

This Alden casting for Han Solo is simply going to show who are the real fans here in Starwars.
People who will luv Alden in the role as Han Solo are casual Starwars Fans and mostly just mainstream, who favor all big names from their popular Tv shows in such Iconic roles of characters.
People who wanted Anthony Ingruber and basically a worthy unknown for the role of a young Han Solo are true "real Starwars fans".
Will he be the new role of Han Solo?

No I dont like this casting, he looks and just seems all wrong for Han Solo. He just looks like some 1 Direction type dude, pretty boy young guy kind of thing, I dont want that for Han Solo! lol.
