If you have a notable amount of poi shift you can always set your unsuppressed zero as your zero stop and have the actual zero (where the turret actually says zero) as your suppressed zero. That way if you want to go back and forth you either just turn to your zero stop or you turn it to 0.

I really enjoy, that you don’t just produce content for the sake of content, but actually have a topic and script to go with it. No bla bla to fill the video. No drama👍🏻
This series is much appreciated. I’ve done multiple calculations on a ballistic calculator, but that’s all theory. You have saved me the work of confirming the academics. Some of us also barely have access to a 200 yard range, let alone a 300.
You have a gift of reading my mind and covering the questions I have while driving to work. All of these things matter. I wonder how many AR owners know where they impact? Your work has convinced me to zero all “battle” rifles the same. Appreciate you Sir!
Unsuppressed the impact went from left at 50 to the right at 200 and it appeared to be a slightly larger group. Thank you for being so thorough and showing what you do. 👍🏻
Would you say that the slight elevation drop when shooting unsuppressed was due to a slight reduction in muzzle velocity (assuming that the suppressor gives the round a bit more powder burn to increase MV)? It would be great to chrono your shots while zeroing suppressed vs unsuppressed to see if there is any noticeable MV change. Thanks again for the great content!
You run into a few different variables when shooting suppressed, especially if you're going off of an unsuppressed zero. First, and probably least noticeable inside of 300 is barrel harmonics. Second, and this is also fairly negligible inside of 300, especially with smaller cans, is the added weight at the muzzle pulling downward on the barrel. You probably won't even notice this effect until you get beyond 300. Possibly further. Unless you're running a heavier auto rated can made out of steel, you may not notice an effect from this at all. Finally, you do get some added muzzle velocity by virtue of having more time for powder burn, but its also facing less air resistance through the can after the first shot burns up the air in the can. Harmonics are actually the bulk of your POI shift. Some older cans, and mostly heavier cans, are horrible for this. Taper mount cans will give you the best results, though.
I was thinking this would be a comparison of the impact of shooting with and without a suppressor on the zero without re-zeroing in between. Maybe you’ve already done that? I think that would be interesting to see, even though we could draw some conclusions from what you did here. Great content. Please keep it up!
If he had done that the 200 yard unsuppressed group would have been off the paper some rifle bullet suppressor combinations will let you do that but Zac knew this one would not work for that level of accuracy

Great video, as usual. I love your content, easily the best on TH-cam. I like that you showed the re-zeroing once you removed the suppressor. For me the question is how much difference will there be if I have zeroed my rifle THEN put on a suppressor. What does that do to my zero and I’ve found that some suppressors make a huge difference while with others there is no difference. In one case the orientation of the suppressor makes a large difference. I’ve also found that adding a can USUALLY tightens up my groups. Everything depends on your rifle and your can and testing is the only way to find out.
I had the same thought. Based on this info, seems like it makes sense to zero it 50/200 without the can, and then if and when when you add it, you’re probably still within a usable max point blank range.
My 16 with an rc2 is exactly the same with being high left unsuppresed. .5 mils down .6mil right. Sick content and yea I need to stop commenting on videos you already made weeks ago! I’m the dummy who said optic height next
POI shift is the reason I have one rifle set up for dedicated suppressor use. The suppressor only gets removed for cleaning. And the suppressor is index marked so it always gets reinstalled in the same orientation.
Another great video! I would also be curious to compare POI shift of the Griffin can vs your Surefire can. (e.g. shoot 50 and 200 with two riffles - once suppressed and once unsuppressed without re-zeroing to compare the POI shifts).
Love your channel. How about a piston vs DI suppressed battle zero shift? See if a harsher recoil affects your POI!? Some different mechanics happening there. My Superlative Arms piston upper runs without gas rings. They claim it improves accuracy. Awful curious how it stacks up. I have a DDC Enticer S can in jail otherwise I would attempt it myself. You have answered many of the questions I have been asking myself. Keep up the great work and excited for what’s to come!
I love your work. I would have also shot the same test again with a third set of groups after re installing the suppressor back on to make sure no zero shift & suppressor is consistent. Lesser quality mounts / suppressors will change POI every time.
Thank you for this video! 😊😊. It shows the impact does change when you add or remove a suppressor. It should all be accounted for in my opinion when zeroing your rifle. You need to know where it moves to if your suppressor gets shot or broken somehow during a fight.
Great vid. I think showing the re-zero after removing the can was critical because some may not know you have to do that. To that point, showing impacts if you don’t re-zero might also be interesting. I have heard new shooters say, its only a little shift, so I don’t re-zero.
More barrel harmonics than length the tip if the barrel is flipping like a jump rope in super slow motion just as the base of the bullet leaves the crown of the muzzle any changes to that tuning fork will change poi down range add to that back pressure from the can ect
Oh video idea sir: can you repeatedly shoot different suppressors on and off - to find out if the POI change is consistently changing for the suppressors you have? Then it could be an easy note on your rifle for that adjustment.
Usually, a can will impair the velocity slightly, causing a reduction of range by inches. But your data shows the can was shooting higher? Can you rotate the can 90 and 180 degrees to see if this was a bore alignment issue?
Very good video sir. I can see why the suppressor shot a little better because of the extra length also. Seen this in a long distance video before. Still very good video
Always appreciate your content! Have often wondered: do you warm up your rifles/suppressors before starting to film? (especially dealing with first round pop/pressure differences when suppressed?)
I don’t make any kind of specific effort to warm things up. Normally though the rifles would be warm when shooting on camera. Prior to filming a scene I typically do things like check zero, check velocity, verify data at distance etc. Not trying to impact the results, just want to make sure the data on film is the most accurate as possible for the viewers.
