One of several times in the shows run where John is shown to either be an ambidextrous shooter or at the very least highly competant at shooting with his non-dominant hand. I've rewatched POI more than most of the shows in my top 5 and it's amazing to me how much high concept detail they layered into the early seasons when it still carried the veneer or a weekly case of the week style show.
All of these are distances under 30 meters anyone experienced in handling guns will tell you that at that range it's more about posture and repetition than actually being ambidextrous.
Great episode, but I’ve always had one regret-I wish the judge and other rescued characters had formed a kind of fifth column against Samaritan-we saw a bit of that, but that judge is one of my favorite early numbers-and he already expressed in this episode a crisis of conscious regarding what John Reese does…
just rewatched that series again and was looking for someone else to mention this. but watching the scene again, looks like they planned to get a corrupt judge after Joss reached out to Team Machine, so Alonzo Quinn will appear to speak about their plan, or at least expect him to be there, might be wrong though
His blend of contemporary music (where he often selects lesser-known but great pieces) and his own compositions are indeed an oftentimes overlooked but integral part of the marvel that is this show.
I love the scene where rain or shine, the show must go on. That is one thing they can not depend on. I love this scene, not only did they get the judges son back, but they also got a money laundering mob group out off bissness. Chirp
Different skill sets. Michael's a consummate spy, while Reese is more of an assassin/wet work specialist. Westen avoids direct combat whenever possible (at least in the early seasons before they bungled his character IMO, but I digress), though he's quite proficient at it when pressed. His main strengths are clever manipulation and resourcefulness. He'd much rather play his foes against themselves, third parties, and the environment than engage in a head-to-head slugfest. Reese can do some of these things to an extent, but he can't hold a candle to Michael's mastery of being a behind-the-scenes mastermind. That being said, John is a *far* more skilled combatant. Michael can hold his own in combat, but he's been beaten in firefights and fistfights alike. Reese regularly takes on insane odds and comes out on top despite trying to be non-lethal. I'm deliberately leaving their respective teams and the Machine out of the comparison. With those in play, Reese gets the edge, no doubt. That's an out-of-context problem for Mikey.
Love David Costabile as the judge! He was a major actor in Lincoln (2012), Billions (2016) and Breaking Bad (2008). And ALWAYS loved the music--JJ Abrams’ forte! Loved David Bowie singing “I’m afraid of Americans."
@@axucaroso And The Wire. Constabile is one of those actors that will never be the biggest name or the biggest star but he always brings something to each role. Still funny to think he played the "unmanly" harp on Flight of the Concords. So many actors would love to be in his position. Michael Emerson is another actor like that who you never forget his work. It's good that Jim Caviezel doesn't have to show much range in this role because he's a very limited actor (sadly, he's also a bit of a nut who fully supports QAnon - including the crackpot theory that Democratic elites (among others) harvest adrenalin from kids (even sacrificing or harvesting them) to produce the drug adrenochrone to create an elixir to remain young (it is also a prime motivation for many child abusers) - yes, Caviezel is a huge proponent and has often spoken on this.
Can someone tell me the name of that song at the end of season 1 episode 5 where the judge's son gets kidnapped and they play that song at the very end. I would love to get the name of that song
you guys should do two research 1 - which series was and should return with one more season? 2 - which are the five best series of all times that should win an Oscar? I will leave mine 1 - Personal Interest had five seasons and should have more. 2 - Stargate 1 and Stargate atlantis 3 - 24 hours , it would be two more seasons playing 4 - The Strain - had three seasons deserved more suggestion! a hug
God Damn... you know how bad America needs a hero like this? Real bad, that's how much. Please, let technology NOT exceed our humanity. Albert would have wanted it that way.
When 24 originally ended in 2010 Jim Caviezel met in a bar in England with Kiefer Sutherland. Jim and Kiefer talked over beers. Kiefer spoke about what is what like to do 24 for 8 seasons. Jim told Kiefer that he really wanted to do a show like 24. The next day Jim Caviezel told his agent to be on the lookout for just such a show. The role of John Reese came up, Jim auditioned and got the part. The first season got good reviews and the 2nd season was a smash hit (14.7 million viewers at 2nd season's end, unheard of). John Cassar who had directed 24, even directed a few episodes for the first 2 seasons of POI. POI was an ass kicking, intelligence, crime drama with a twist. Since then the ratings have declined and as of the end of the 4th season the ratings are dismal (8.2 million viewers). CBS renewed POI for a 5th season for only 13 episodes starting mid-season. We all know what that means. The show is over. This is because the writers, producers are doing what they do to so many shows, they are using POI for social commentary to the point of absurdity, for example, the two women on the show, Root and Shaw, one who was an assassin for the ISA and the other a psychopath hacker develop a romantic interest (barf). This is as stupid as creating a love interest between Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida. Political correctness take precedence over good writing and story lines. Absolute shame.
I didn't really mind the romantic interest between Shaw and Root. What got me was the absolute destruction of John Reese as a character. After Carter's death, he took a two season-long backseat to Root & Co. and became a background character who occasionally kicked a little ass but mostly got jobbed and played the occasional comic relief. You don't do that to your protagonist that the audience has become heavily emotionally-invested in.
I have never heard of the Kiefer and JIm meet in England, not sure if that's true or not, if so? makes for a good story. 24 is my favorite show btw. First two seaons of POI were amazing, 3rd was good. 4th and 5th were kinda forgettable. The ratings decline wasn't about losing Carter, it was about the storylines. If they had just kept saving a persons life every week, It would have succeeded for a few more years. The Samaritan storyline was the beginning of the end. The other problem was the long hours in NYC and being a leading man. (anyone remember the Equalizer with Edward Woodwood? NYC shoot, long hours, leading man...heart attack and his hours were reduced). Same situation here, eventually it became too much for Caviezal. Long hours, fight choreograpy, injuries..etc etc. The women came in (shaw especially, and I never liked her. ) and totally de-balled him. He was pretty much just background for many shows, but I guess he needed the rest. Still watch and love the show, have them on blu ray, but I do think about what could have been. I miss the show.
Considering Reese in the show holds back because he does not want to kill anyone, just neutralize the them, we generally don't know what Reeses full potential is. Only rumors based off of his nicknames. I honestly though could see them pairing up. I probably would say Wick just because we never get to see Reese in his full killing mode. Otherwise I'd say the fight could go either way as both are trained killers.
To all corrupt figures and establishments. Also, be prepared for any possible harrassment. I know you probably are aware of this. But yeah, I agree full heartedly.
The 1st season of Person of Interest was great. I didn't care for Root and Shaw. They should have kept it just the main characters from the 1st season.
Love this scene, still confused why the guy didn't just take the deal, since even if he did survive, he wouldn't even be able to pay anyone, not even his own security after this, and I wouldn't want to imagine what his clients would do to him.
I'm thinking he just decided to execute his retirement plan. Nobody keeps all his eggs in one basket and nobody gets out of that game without pulling some kind of Houdini act. He had a retirement stash, a new identity and a plan to get to them.
This is SO BAD I almost have to laugh - is it supposed to be like, um, this bad on purpose? Like a B movie back in the day! Low budget, one take, lazy actors, worse writing Jim C needed money this badly? Man, even I could kick ass in an elevator, a closet or maybe the alley behind a bakery with no cameras They all should quit together and go work for UPS or Amazon and make deliveries

Jim Caviezel is ambidextrous to a dangerous degree in real life and is extremely proficient in writing and shooting as well as other musical things

Yeah I would've loved to see the doctor in ep 2 come back
Actually the machine sent two of these survivors to john to save him
Would have been cool to use the judge for future court room scenes
With shows like this, it is usually a question of the actor being available to come back and shoot another episode.
It's practically confirmed that the judge is (along with almost all the other rescued people).
