    It's very easy to grow lemongrass at home. What are your favorite herbs to grow?

    Lemongrass is hard to find in Northern Ontario. I finally found some, and they looked nothing like yours. I used your method, and I have some rooting already. They're so green! Thank you 😁

      I'm so happy for you! Soon they'll get nice and tall. When the weather gets warm, you can stick them in the ground and they'll start bunching and producing more lemongrass for you. ☺️

    How do you overwinter Lemongrass?

  • @TimmyJoGiven

    This is so helpful. I received one piece of lemongrass last spring. It is a full plant now, flourishing in the ground just outside my kitchen door. This is USA zone 7a, so I will be harvesting soon as you demonstrated in your video but also saving some to propagate in water over wintertime. Thanks so much.

    We could be friends as we have many common interests. Cooking and gardening are a big part of my lifestyle. I enjoy all of your tutorials and incorporate or totally follow them. I hope you will continue making them as I will continue enjoying them. Thanks!

    I recently tried to grow cuttings using the 2 in size. I was amazed that the short ones do seem to grow quite well.

    Thank you so much for this detailed video. I have looked at so many just to know if I need to cut the base and roots from taking them out of the ground before putting them in water. Right now they are sitting in water but I will cut the base as you showed and roots.

    This does seem like a fun herb to grow. I may try this. Having fresh herbs is the best way to go!!

    our lemongrass at the grocers looks a bit past its prime, but i will try this anyway.....every so often i try to grow basil from an already established plant. it always dies. can this plant be made happy indoors? i've a nice window just like yours here.

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much! Give it a try, it might work. Eventually they will need to be transported into a pot. Lemongrass will eventually grow into a tall bush up to 5 ft tall. It's going to need nutrients and good sunlight eventually.

    I recently gave away all my succulents and was looking for something to grow in my windowsill. I think I'll try this!

      The leaves smell great too! Eventually they will need to be transplanted into pot because it turns into a bush and can grow to 5 ft. Thank you for watching Jessica!

    No way I got lemongrass for your curry recipe and I also put it in water to propagate after using it. We are on the same page!

    I have always wanted to try this. How well would this do outdoors in Arizona where the temps are over 40C?

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will do well! They will need a lot of watering though to thrive in that drier climate. Very easy to take care of

    I have a question…. I live in zone 6b and i have lemon grass outside. Should i dig it up and bring it in as a plant? Will it survive that way over the winter? Or should i just do this with some of the stalks?

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching. They can certainly survive over the winter in 6b indoors, however it can be a bit tricky. If you keep the stalks in water like this, the water will need to be changed every few days to prevent any rot. If you cut the stalks down to a stump, water less and keep in a cool dim space to make them go dormant for the winter.

    Lemongrass is such a great herb for cooking. Didn't know it was that easy to grow. You say it can be planted outside when it's warm enough, but when is that? What temperature would you recommend?

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's wonderful to cook with! You can transplant them outside when the daily temperature doesn't go lower than 45F to 50F consistently. Lower than that may kill or stunt them. If given a huge pot to grow in or planted directly into the ground, the lemongrass can grow into a 5 ft bush.

    I heard making lemongrass tea is good for arthritis.

      That's interesting, I didn't know that but I'm sure it has many health benefits

    • @Cindy-ng6sx
      @Cindy-ng6sx ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? I have that and been using it with cold teas.
      I put mint ,lemon grass, lemon basil and holy basil in a big half gallon ball jar half full of the herbs, and a couple dark tea bags and add boiling water.
      Let it steep add honey when warm so it will melt inside while steeping for about an hour or two. Strain it into a pitcher and put into the fridge.
