  • Tuning octaves directly, e.g. playing A3-A4 and tuning A3 so that A3-A4 sounds good, is an easy and fast way to tune mid-range octaves. But this way is neat too, and it gives us some feedback on the inharmonicity of the piano we are tuning. howtotunepianos.com !

Notice how loose my hammer tip fit is? With Non-Speaking Length Tension Analysis (See th-cam.com/video/fGERW26G9hI/w-d-xo.html) you do NOT need a tight fitting tip NOR a stiff lever shank because you ALWAYS know in which direction you need to move the pin and therefore just have to "nudge" it in that direction. If you do not know in which direction you need to nudge the pin, in other words, you are searching for the correct pin position, then a tight fitting tip and stiff shank are necessary. And the looser the tip/pin fit or the less stiff the lever shank, the more trouble you will have. Who would like to know how to get superior stability without having to have a tight fitting tip and without having to pay an arm and a leg for a stiff hammer shank, AND not have to use loud aggressive test blows that damage your hearing and joints? (This is somet9imes referred to as Soft Blow Hammer Technique)

I hear wire ticking and sticking in the agraffs. That's not easy to tune. Wow. Kudos.

Yep. Good ears. Those agraffes have received their share of protek. Any suggestions?
