I truly think your version is unique enough to stand beside the original on its own feet. On stage I would probably segue into Fly like an eagle or Fast Car or some mixture of the two, something of aProffessor Eugene Nichols mixture . I don’t know though, maybe I have him on the brain, but your rendition does remind me kind of the dearly missed Steve Goodman, who would just tell the tale slow until it was done, no fancy chord to tell the audience to take. A breath and clap. Well done girls, and great choice of song.
