      our school had a classroom where they taught us war related stuff like surviving after a nuke attack and about radiation. There were x2 AK-47s on the front desks and that classroom was never locked (no classroom was ever locked). We used to go there sometimes and take apart and put back together those AKs.

    with 30 minutes of practice it was 30 seconds to field strip and put it back together when we tried it back in army =/ was closer to ak 47 than 103 tho .. ( sako Rk62 and Valmet Rk62-7x ). some of the guyz had huge issues with dustcovers tho… some where tighter than skinny nun to get them to open. Mine was one of the best ones in company . smooth as butter.. tho mine was newer than most of the weapons in company.. i had the polymer handguard and pistol grip instead of older models having steel handguard and some rubbery type plastic on grip. (so mine was Valmet Rk62-74 )
    what an great thing … open sights 400m shots first shot on target every time. even after snow blocked the sights sometimes and you had to fire along the barrel to line up the shot.. it was accurate to 200 - 250m … just as good as it gets.
    Hated the thing tho when down hill skiing , had my lips busted open multiple times when the damn thing jumped on pumps and barrel hit my face.. i was one of the luckier ones to not loose teeth's on it. But as we had to be ready to fire instantly , you had to have the strap loose enough to be able to crap the thing instantly , it had the room to jump on your face. But in real situation, better to be bitten by barrel than bullet. As most of the time you where expected to be behind enemy lines, moving around and gather intel and do ambush attacks if opportunity presents it self or was the mission.
    The Recon/Guerilla company i was in tho.. we all where fit and a bit above rest of the companies on any given race or competition. But then again.. i rather had the Rk and other +50-60kg on my back than having the same amount of stuff on your back and carry the Kvkk ( LMG ) or PKM around with 1/3 of the ammo .

    I can say the Kalishnikov series rifles and folding stock carbines are a very good design. I own 3 semi-auto versions of them. Before owning them I first had to face them in combat. First was the Panama Invasion of 1989-90. I was pinned down by a PDF Panama Defense Forces soldier from a second floor window and another one from a ground floor door. I was exposed and I became a target. I have never been so scared that it made me cry thinking the next round was meant for me. With tears of fear in my eyes I had to shoot back. I shot at the ground floor guy and he stopped and rolled on my back to shoot at the 2nd floor guy. a few seconds later my squad opened up on the targets shooting at me. I crawled and scurried like hell just not to get shot. That was the worse feeling in the world knowing that I was about to die any second. The second time was decades later in Iraq during 2006 through 2008. Shooting and moving in towns, villages, and cities of Iraq. Many infantrymen who have faced the AK-47 in its forms will tell you the same as I have. It is a very good reliable combat rifle. Today I admire the design and simplicity of the weapon. I have never forgot it's capabilities in the hands of a determined enemy infantryman or guerilla fighter.

      @Predator42ID 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Call me late but just like cars, buildings, ships, etc. firearms need maintenance as well. The whole point of stripping down a firearm is so you can clean out the carbon buildup from all the rounds or shells fired. Then you simply relubricate the system just like any other machine to get it running smoothly again.
