Robins: Lets calm the expectations...
Mark did wonders getting Coventry to the play-off final 17 months ago and of course, getting that far was not just about winning a couple of semi-final matches, but doing well-enough in the league over a 46 game season to qualify for one of those four COVeted places.
The Coventry team today look a shadow of the team that did so well in the Championship two years ago. Two years ago they were a hard team to break down and even harder to score against. On what I can see here, the Coventry players were second to every ball. Almost as though their thinking is a couple of seconds behind that of their opponents, so that the opposition win more of the balls in the key-areas.
There seems to be an attitude, well if this guy runs past me with the ball, my team mate will pick him up. Rather than every player scrapping for every yard of the field.
Those teams that display such an attitude, tend to spend their season hovering above the relegation trap-door and then it only takes a couple of bad results and you're making trips to Cheltenham.
Of course, keeping a team of limited finances at the level that Coventry find themselves can cost dearly. Promotion to the Premier League would certainly have changed the clubs fortunes. But failure to win the big reward can impact a club financially as well. We remember the talk about the clubs recent past and financial difficulties from many of those interviews with the management team prior to that play-off final.
There is a sense of what-might have been whilst at the same time, other clubs now see Coventry as a prize-scalp and raise their game. Your supporters obviously trust Mark, and I can understand the dilemma of not wanting to send him away. So you go to game after game hoping results will change... but how long do you give it. 6 games, 12 games, 23 games. Changing managers isn't a guarantee that anyone else will do a better job, it could turn out much worse. So, for the time being, at-least "In Mark We Trust."
But personally and on today's performance I would bite that bullet and shake the guys hand before he drives away from the ground for the last time. There, I said it.

The last time Coventry City beat Swansea City in 1981 at the old Highfield Road ground, I was actually at that game in which we beat Swansea 3-1. I was 18 years old at the time, I am now a very sprightly 61 years young! We had players such as Mark Hateley, Garry Thompson, Rudi Kaiser a Belgian right sided winger or midfielder, Paul Dyson, Gary Gillespie, Steve Jacobs, and Steve Hunt. I can't remember who else played in that winning Coventry team which last beat Swansea. Bob Latchford played in that Swansea team that day.
I’m not calling for Robins head like so many people, it’s the players. We show up against a premier league side in what now just looked like our players saw as an opportunity to showcase themselves in hope they get scouted, because when it really mattered in a league game they are dreadful. We cannot blame robins for the team selection, if anyone’s does then think on spurs having 3 games in a week and putting on a performance today against Brentford. If you are saying that then our fitness levels are miles off it. No one is fighting for the badge and for the team. We currently have a team of selfish players. We don’t deserve this.

People way overplay the performance against Spurs. It was the Carabao cup and Spurs B team. they were hardly 100% up for it.
I'm calling for Robins to go , with Leeds , Blackburn and Shed Wed coming up if we lose those I think he will be gone. It's done a great job but I think he's taken us as far as he can. The likes of Eccles , Allen and Torp are Div 1 level and Wright was a disgrace today, while Mason Clarke was just as bad.

Swansea fan; A powerful vlog; I'm really sorry to see you all so depressed. Glad we won, but have genuine affection for your club - I even went to the 1987 cup final & loved the win back then. My first ever top flight game was as a little kid at Highfield Road versus Derby County . Good luck for the rest of the season - I think you will be OK. I don't think either one of our clubs will be in the top 6 TBH. Shame. Good strikers are at a premium in this division.

Absolutely Awful Matt 😖 Robins has lost the dressing room, the clocks ticking, this is all down too Doug King getting rid of Adi and Dennis not getting decent replacements for O’hare Palmer, and not getting loans in to strengthen the midfield and defence.The Relegation battle is on.
It’s not. You’re in poor form, but look at where you came last season & look at the squad you have; whether you need to change manager is another question but you’re definitely not in a relegation battle…

Utterly terrible performance today, none of the players looked interested. I understand why he wanted to keep the same team from Wed but if you look at Allen as an example, he was knackered 80 minutes into Wednesday, so the fact MR started him today was crazy.
Also, Not seen it back but that clearly looked like a hand ball at the time, couldn't believe the ref didnt give it. The ref was terrible, but that said, we were worse and didn't deserve anything from that game.
Not calling for MR to go, he's spent 7 years building the club, but if you zoom out and look at our home form, we've hardly been a fortress and its been on the decline for a while.

I'm as gutted as any Cov fan with how the season has started but as we've seen before it can be redeemed yet. Might not feel like it now but we've done it before. Times lke this i try and remember we could still be in league 2.
This the third season in a row that we've started poorly. MR has failed to solve that problem.

Sadly your Right, after every supposedly big game .. coventry switch off and allow teams to maul them, Wright was sh***te and seems not to care, almost like he's wanting a transfer, & the blame has to also be with MR ... he knows Coventry's faults after last season and should have freshened things up . I've said this consistently before the start of this season, Coventry and Middlesboro are just hype teams, just because you did well before doesn't mean you will do well again. Both teams have good managers which have got more quality and results out of the team than the squad quality. Now they are showing their true level
We looked totally asleep for most of the first half. We started the 2nd half quite brightly but seemed to lose our rhythm completely once the players were taken off and the game delayed due to the lightning storm. The game just whittled away and we never really looked like scoring. It’s been really flat and hard to watch but calling for the manager to go is an easy take on it. Some of the fans who sit around me are SO negative. They never sing or make a noise when we’re playing well, just whinge and look for scapegoats amongst the players when we’re not. PUSB
Really well articulated rants. Feel the passion and frustration. I'm a Luton fan and we've been pretty poor too but managed to dig out back to back wins which has helped ease the pain. Hopefully it turns for you guys soon. All the best.

It's been great seeing Cov over the last four seasons been successful including that great semi final against united which we all know you should of won. You really have a great manager and i believe a good team. No point at the moment putting too much pressure on Mark Robins because we know him and Cov will come good. I might be wrong, but I’ve always felt that something wasn’t quite right between King and Robins - different visions maybe? The departure of Viveash may have had something to do with that and hasn’t done us any favours. Something is going to give and sadly it will be Robins. I hope Doug knows what he’s doing.

We flew at you with intensity and pressing, cov barely saw the ball in the first 20 mins! We knackered ourselves out so the 2nd half wasn't anywhere near, but the damage was done. Met some of your fans who were quality, fair play, though there was a small bust up in the car park 😮

Right now it feels like MR still has time. But I don't subscribe to the view that he should be immune because of past achievements. When he does eventually run out of steam and loses the dressing room he should make way, regardless of history and sentimentality.
One issue we have is that we don't know our starting XI. Every week, the team is chopped and changed.
The Coventry players are throwing Robins under the bus with these poor performances. No leadership qualities. I worry about Leeds United Away.

People were honestly so confident us finishing in an AUTOMATIC place, haven’t replaced hamer since he left, let go players like o hare and Palmer, not really replaced, signed a lot of attackers, had a whole pre season and robins still doesn’t know his best 11 with that and this much into the season. His in play subs are to be questioned, and his consistency in playing Jamie Allen, deserves to be looked at massively. He must have something on robins. Results are one thing, but aside from the cup, Watford for 60-70 mins and Oxford has been our only decent performances, people can’t keep blaming a different player every week, especially when the man at the helm keeps chopping and changing.
We have brought players that need developing not finished article Robins can’t win.
Swans fan at the game and whilst some cov fans disparaging said It’s only Swansea, I have to say myself Coventry are nothing special. We totally dominated you for the first 25 and even in the second half I personally felt you just huffed and puffed without threatening.

Secondly.
Watching opposition teams. They are snapping at our heels, immediately closing down our attacking players to get that ball back. We are lazy when we're not in possession. We give them space, our defenders retreat rather than run at them to try and press them into making rushed passes or to tackle them full stop. That second goal was absolutely abysmall. The goal scorer must have been laughing at how easy it was just to stroll into our box unchallenged, cut inside onto his right peg and score as easily as that.
I'd consider Kitching for next game. A defensive hard man who won't take prisoners so easily. Yes he gets into trouble too often. But we need some sort of ferocity in our defending at the moment. Because it's completely passive right now.

Spurs were awful for 84 minutes. We are miles off Premiership quality. There has been some questionable purchases; a whole bunch of strikers who simply cannot hit the back of the net, granted, there's little supply from midfield ( what midfield)? It's inevitable that personnel leaving and new arriving is going to have an impact on the team. However, there is no cohesion anywhere and that has to be an issue with the entire team and backroom staff. Things are not gelling at all and that is because of a dysfunctional environment within the club. Hopefully, time will bring these elements together. Robins has the look of a manager struggling against this fractured system. Players need to do their part in bringing the club together, not just turn up and go through the motions, some with more motion than others.

The transfer window was the cock up, no defensive midfielders or defenders bought and about 20 strikers that can't score for s*** we will be lucky not to go down this season.
