I never would've believed that this 1980 cult classic would be transferred into a two-disc 4K Blu-Ray set by Shout! Factory under the Scream Factory label back in February of this very year, so cool!
We should be seeing all sorts of little miracles popping up as the greedy boomer generation loses more of its grip on our society each and every passing day
Finally!! Scream Factory for the win! And in 4K. I remember Elric Kane asking Jeff and Cliff if Alligator was even possible for blu ray back in the early days of KillerPOV. 9 years later.... they come through a blu ray AND a UHD disc. Too cool. I have renewed faith that The Keep could be a possibility.
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) was an assistant on the special effects crew for this movie. He helped make the blood and guts for the explosion at the end.
This may be a movie, but a gator that size was real in Florida. I worked at the gated community it was in, during my younger days and I drove a four door pontiac at the time. When that community gator walked pass my car, it was talker than the car for starters and about x7 of my car in length, at least. Folks in the community gave it a name, but can't remember. Anyway, I got the "phuk" outta there when I seen that 'dino' for the first time. I eventually saw on the news, it was finally captured when it layed out in a ditch at the community....belly full of several people and pets. Really brave men and women to "phuk" with that T-Rex. Why do people love water so much, they'll live with gators just to see it on their plot, is beyond me but that's all day long in Florida areas.
Oh what a silly story. The largest alligator on record is about 14 foot confirmed and as they kill and slaughtered millions of them im pretty sure a 36foot one didnt just roll up. Youve obviously had to much moonshine.
This movie came out when I was eight years old, and it was also the same year that my dad built our swimming pool. Had me looking over my shoulder the entire next summer anytime I went swimming.
as someone who thinks that jaws is one of the greatest films ever made, and lets be honest we only watched the jaws films and films with monsters in them so that we can watch people get eaten, so whats to not love about a giant alligator who has a serious attack of the munchies, and surely there`s got to some irony that no doubt when the lucky ones saw this in the cinema, and while they were watching an enormous alligator really go to town on his lunch options, they also perhaps could not control there own appetites for the cinema food, and perhaps even for each other if they were feeling romantic, and yet at least the alligator had an excuse for his greed, some idiot keep flushing down growth formula down the drain, as well as plenty of lost family pets, so whats a nice alligator to do, fight against his instincts to feed, or get stuck in and have a party, and when ramon finally breaks out of the sewer, and simply wants to say hello, who can blame him for wanting to join a high society wedding like everyone else, even if he was not invited, and as with most guests at a wedding, he`s only there for the food, even if he does prefer eating the guests to the actual wedding buffet, and as this wedding is being held by the very people that helped him become a big boy in the first place, its about time that he turned up to show them just how much he had grown, even if i`m still not sure about how he thanked them, and i`m even less impressed by his table manners.
0:31- Huh, I didn't know John Holmes also had a movie coming out this month. 1:10- "Well, so much for my C.H.U.D. research." 1:38- Oh good, they got him.
I remember this movie coming on channel 5 wnyw. I think I first saw it in 1983 on TV. This movie had to be an inspiration for the movie C.H.U.D . Which would come out 4 years after his movie.
I managed to watch alligator 🐊 1980 second time since I was 7 years old and have to say it’s gruesome especially the garden scene we’re the maid got eaten alive. 80 s classics
Wish we could of seen the Dr's reaction when she realized that this was the exact gator her dad flushed down the toilet when she had it as a pet as a kid. Romona 😅 like yea it's kind of her fault everyone's dieing
Looks like my comment about this movie getting a blu-ray release aged well. I honestly never thought I would see the light of day this film gets a blu ray release.
I remember when this came out on VHS. I was about five, and the parents operated a video store. The kids' birthday party scene might have something to do with my fear of swimming
As a kid When i watched this movie i could not sleep for a month i literally thought alligator would come out from anywhere in the house man i miss those days
An alligator that big could eat two chickens and it would be good for a month or two, heck most of them don't eat the entire winter season. That is one of the benefits of being cold blooded.
A flawless movie except for just one thing: Forster never finished his Wild Billy story that took place in St. Louis. I guess we’ll never know the shenanigans that were gotten up to that day. R.I.P. Forster, and Ramon, and probably Wild Billy, that son of a bitch
Jaws will always be the ultimate shark movie. It's never been topped, nor will it be, just like that movie, Alligator will always be the ultimate Alligator/Crocodile movie....(Although "Crawl" was the only movie to come close)... And in the end, when it comes to special effects?...Give me the practicals and articulated puppets of these two movies, then the CGI or stop animation that is regularly used....Which is why the movie "Them" will always hold up....With the exception of the original King Kong..IMO, it's the only way to go.....Good times indeed!
36ft long!! its amazing they found a alligator 22ft longer than any on record that specifically wanted to star in this film. Just coincidence i guess!!!
I was very young like 7 years around 1980, 1981 and always felt curious about horror movies. I barely remember a trailer about a horror movie, there were animals going crazy, killing people, I think they were dogs (not Cujo) and maybe other animales like lions from a Zoo, does anyone knows the name of this movie?
Growing up in the 90s while watching this on the original SciFi channel, those were the good old days.
Growing up in the nineties I remember picking up movies like this at the movie rental store. Good times
Indeed!! My husband, son, and I watched it on Sci-fi channel. A great, scary, exploitation horror movie!
Indeed!!!
I do miss old monster and creatures movie on SciFi channel too
That and USA up all night
That guy’s voice provided the narration what seems like nearly every single movie trailer in the 1980’s.
That would be Don LaFontaine. He's voiced over 5,000 movie trailers. He died in 2008. That's why you don't hear his voice anymore.

And the main character was played by Robert Forster - who play Ed Galbraith in Breaking Bad, El Camino and BCS.
Bryan Cranston ? The actor?

Scary movie for a young kid in the 80s! I couldn't go near a storm drain after watching it.

I was also 8 years old. My grandfather had a built-in pool and I didn't go to the deep end, for two summers!! That birthday party scene got me! 😅
I was 5 when it came out but thankfully 13 before I saw it. Awesome movie though
This is the film Tarantino saw as a teen and made him choose Robert Forster to star in Jackie Brown many years later!
Alligator 1980, love this movie too

This movie is a bonafide horror classic
Now this is a horror movie😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Hard to believe this is one of the very first horror films I ever saw.

One of My Must See Horror Movies To Watch Someday
I saw this in a movie theater in Russia when I was about ten. It scared the crap out of me
It's on Tubi now. Takes me back!
As my father from India would say, "They eat up human beings!"
I saw the beginning of the movie on NY's Channel 5 in the early 80's. It's such a trip watching the whole movie now
Lewis Teague was a great director of the 80's. Another good director.
Speaking of which, he would totally go out and direct both movie adaptations of Stephen King's Cat's Eye & Cujo.
I remember this movie as a little kid I had the alligator toy.

This movie scared me back then as a kid but that Slade Mansion massacre could have been halted if most of the guests went to the house.
A true cult classic!
My little sister wouldn't sit on the toilet seat, for over a year, after seeing this. An adult had to "hover" her over it!!😅

What made the title of “Jaws” so clever is that they didn’t just call the movie “Shark” you know? That would be lazy…
