I’ve never cared for music on the bike. I just like the ride and enjoy the peace. I’m not even going to change the stock exhaust on my FLHR because I’m over loud pipes too. I’m just enjoying it as is.
Funny thing is, the stereos now just blue tooth from your phone and then to the helmet. Just blue tooth from the phone to the helmet headset. Really no need for the stereo other than navigation.
Man, bought one of these about a month ago with a great discount. I had a blue 2008 that did not have Security, ABS, or Cruise or the 107. What a sweet ride.
I love it, it doesn't have anything you don't need. I bought an Electra Glide Standard in 2001 and I'm still riding it. Put a stereo in it took a stereo out of it put a short. Windshield on it put a tall windshield on it. It's done everything I needed to do for almost 20 years and I paid 13000 for it brand new. And believe it or not I was on a waiting list to buy it. the good old days.
I bought a new 2006 Standard and it was hands-down, the best bike I’ve ever owned. Paid $18K for it When I first rode it I said: “Mama, I’m home!” Did some minor things to it to make it my own, but at 88” and a 5-speed, if had me wishing for more. This new one has 107” and a 6-speed AND it’s $18K ?!? “Mama, my prayers have been answered!”
Love the idea. Way to go Harley and thank you John for the coverage. I personally just picked up a 2007 flhtpi, and couldn't be happier 103, 6 speed and Ton's of room to make it mine. Thank you again john.
I think a blank slate is an awesome idea. Why have to replace $1000s worth of stuff when you can just install what you want? Not a bagger guy but I like they thinking behind this.
Awesome review. I personally don't need the radio but when I go 2 up with the wife on the back roads she loves it.... and she loves me too lol...... Love seeing Travis as your, garage and road dog!!!!
The Electric Glide Standard is basically the FLHTP minus the seat, 2 way radio that goes where the "glove box" is, police lights and siren and the radio box on the back. Put all that on and you got a police motor
Now that’s a good direction they are taking ! I don’t use all that touch screen stuff on my Street Glide anyway . Bluetooth in the helmet and phone your set .
Indian is only Indian by name these days, another brand sent to the History books. Still make some cool looking bikes but not sure the quality is there from the few I have seen in the UK. My money is still going into the HD bank I'm afraid.

$22k OTD with ABS. Not a bad price if you plan on leaving it alone. However, like most HD riders you will eventually want to start adding bells and whistles. I was told if you want to add electronics it's not plug n play because it won't have the CAN signals/wiring/connectors. You will also need to upgrade all the lighting to LED, if it is even possible (no body contol model). You would be better off spending the extra $2,900 for the Street/RG stadard.
What’s up once again, John? Welp, I just traded in my Electra Glide Standard today for a 2019 Softail Heritage 114 in black. I must say, WOW!!! The Electra Glide Standard was a bit too much for my 168lb. frame. The Softail is simply AMAZING! Looks like I’ll be on it A LOT! Thank you for your videos, you helped out BIG time! 👌💯
In Australia the Electra Glide's RRP is AU$34,495, the same price as the Road King. Still a lot of money for a base machine. The Street Glide is over $4,000 more. Not a cheap bike in Aussie is Harley.
I think this is not a bad move but it will be competing at dealer showrooms with the Soft Tail Sport Glide and also low mile used Street Glides and Road Glides
Wanted one of these last time they offered it because I had a vision for it and still do: Stage IV, Screaming Eagle Pipes and Heavy Breather Extreme Air Cleaner sounds like a good start .
Walked into my local dealer late in 2019 and there sitting on the showroom floor was a 2019 FLHT (I had a 2008) with a $3000 discount sign on it. I bought it immediately. What a great base bike to build on and the 107 is fine by me. Have a video of it on my channel if interested.
Got to look at one yesterday. Happened to stop by the local dealer and he was cool enough to let me take a look at it as they were prepping it for he floor. And take a look at the VIN, might give you a chuckle courtesy of Buzz Kanter of American Iron Mag for pointing it out!
I’ve owned two standards in the past including an 09 the last year before they discontinued. I think they are a great bang for the buck and an awesome platform . Glad to see them back. People that say “just buy a streetglide” obviously don’t get it.
I have an 05 Standard, only $15,900 back then. It was a blank canvas that I turned into a nice bike over time....The low price afforded me to make it mine a little at a time.
I’m really quite excited about the return of the Electra Glide. I’ll always keep my 09 FLHTCU but the new will make a great commuter bike. I think Harley hit this one out of the park with price point to value.
I think the one thing I love most about my street glide special is I don’t feel the need to change anything. Except the handlebars. But I’m too cheap to bother with it. Oh yeah and the headlight. It will get a daymaker at some point. Even though I think it should’ve be on the bike already for a $25k motorcycle
love it ! great intro to the new bike . thanks . but i do wish they put a cover on that huge hole in the dash . really you wouldn't use it as a glove box , because stuff is gonna fall out of there while you're riding .
Maybe a few more riders will learn what road king guys know. The sound of the bike and the road. Seriously this is so cool. I get tired of pulling up to lights and listening to 10 different songs ar once because everyone wants to crank their tunes
Just wish they had used the 13" shocks instead of the 12's. So the shocks I would change but my list to add is: ABS, the passing lights, Red shift 468 cam, thunderheader (with the ghost pipe), power commander and I'd be good to go. Maybe later down the road a radio with Android Auto. Can get a much better radio for much less than the Harley radio.

Dollars into exhaust. Cam 114 engine, red rocker boxes, calipers, soundstream Single din deck with apple play, 21 front wheel, speaker lids and amp, 2 up seat...screw it just buy a used 2019 Street glide
Hay john that's pretty cool thanks for posting that. I didn't pay that for my 2019 ultra limited that's for sure. Not coming with a heel shifter would be a plus for me. I had Harley take mine off and they made it look clean like it was factory. They put a spacer and a chrome end cap on the shaft.
Great move by Harley to make a tourer for those that don’t want all the bells and whistles. I was thinking the Road King was going to be my next bike, but this new Electra Standard has me thinking may be not.
For most people that get a fairing bike part of it is because they want the radio and stuff in it so Harley puts this bike out without no speakers or radio for 18,9.... about time you put a radio in that you would like and speakers with the labor you over $20,000 anyway so you might as well just step up and get the streetglide standard and don't have to worry about none of that at all. Now if Harley drop that bike to about 15,000 somewhere in there then they can really talk. But at the price point they're talkin with tax and title and Freight you're going to be over 20,000 anyway.
Glad HD is starting to think about soaring prices. At $18,999 plus freight $$ + Dealer Mark up depending on your area $1 or $2k as we pay in So Cal it's going to be $21k plus Tax, Lic, Doc fee = $23k for stripped down Glide???
It’s good harley is offering this basic touring model. I never liked blasting stereos and all the non essentials that we really don’t need. My first road trip from Illinois to Canada was on a 850 Norton, no windshield no nothing! My second road trip was from Chicago to the Florida Keys on a 750 Honda super sport. No windshield no nothing but a leather jacket and a back pack strapped to a sissy bar. I actually met a guy from Ohio along the way making the the same trip to Florida on his rusty CB 350 Honda loaded with his gear hanging on the back.. he kept up with me! And was having a blast! John, and you call this new touring model basic? Hell, that guy on his CB 350 Honda and me on a stripped 750 Honda would have considered this new “basic’ Harley-Davidson a dream machine. You millennials...LOL
If your lookin for a touring bike with no experience on a touring bike, than this one fits the bill for a good price. Looks good with room for improvement.
Nico Cabrera You can get a deal on these, there’s also already some slightly used ones out there for way less. Some of us maybe don’t want the Street Glide 🤷🏼♂️
What I see from this release is a lot of folks like the Street Glide look but can't afford new ones especially the specials, so this fits a perfect niche. Does it compete against other brands like Indian, yes. I almost bought an Indian then I researched and found so many complaints like paint rust, chrome fade, engine problems; stayed with Harley
Still needs to be cheaper its too close to the street glide base price. I would price it at $17,499. Those bikes would fly off the showroom at that price.
Harley are between a rock and a hard place with the price as the bike will compete with the higher priced softails (which are to my mind overpriced anyway) if they drop the price. I own a street glide and can see people buying one and using it as a base to add their own parts to as I would hope that Harley haven’t changed the wiring loom just blanked off the unused connections. You get a lot of people who change speakers/ sound systems etc on street glides for something better than OE and this bike would give them a cheaper way of doing it .
@@johnludmon7419 Good points. I've seen a few new Heritage owners say they wish they would have known about the Standard, as they would have held off and bought that. Downside in the audio wiring is they took away the hand controls, whereas the old Standard, they left all that. I too wonder what wiring they left under the fairing. I could see some people using an Infinity bluetooth setup as a workaround.
Not a bad option. I think they need to find another color or two that they can still stay in that price category but offer another option or two color wise. Maybe a simple silver and red. Not some custom metallic, but just a little way to not be identical to everyone of those on the street. For myself, in that price category, I may opt for a Heritage. I just like the profile and riding position of the Heritage. Thanks for the video and as someone else noted, two videos in one week, “we are not worthy” . Thanks John.
Smart move for the Motor Company. I've had Electraglides for years now and thought it was a mistake to lose the standard. And it's cheaper than their electric bike! With a warranty too.

@@larryj8924 right bro thats what im sayin.
Hell yeah, that's what i'm talking about. Harley finally put a good price on its bike
I hope they bring back the Softail Custom too! Love that bike.
Someone still got a few grey cells left at Harley. I had my doubts after the Livewire pricing. Good move from HD
If your lookin for a touring bike with no experience on a touring bike, than this one fits the bill for a good price. Looks good with room for improvement.
That is a great bike for the price point. I was disappointed when they cut that model I wanted one. I do like my Road King.
For the price buy last years Street glide that comes fully loaded
Nico Cabrera You can get a deal on these, there’s also already some slightly used ones out there for way less. Some of us maybe don’t want the Street Glide 🤷🏼♂️
What I see from this release is a lot of folks like the Street Glide look but can't afford new ones especially the specials, so this fits a perfect niche. Does it compete against other brands like Indian, yes. I almost bought an Indian then I researched and found so many complaints like paint rust, chrome fade, engine problems; stayed with Harley
Good move on HD! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It would be a good make it your own kind of platform for sure .
Still needs to be cheaper its too close to the street glide base price. I would price it at $17,499. Those bikes would fly off the showroom at that price.
One sales guy told me the msrp should be 1k less, but other than that, it's a great move.
I paid less than that for mine. Gotta negotiate.
I think we might see colors for 2020, if I had to guess.
Woooooh! Good on harley for getting this right. It seems to me that alot of people are buying touring bikes and this was a great move on them.
Crazy to think in 2003 this bike was over $40.000 ..and in Canada you were put on a waiting list .
Bought mine last Saturday. Love it.
Well, here in the Netherlands (Europe) it is at €29100, about $31000. So too close to Roadking and Streetglide to be a real alternative
The FLHTP glove box looks exactly the same.
I figured so, I’ve just never seen one without the police radio in it
FLHT has no USB, No Daymaker, no heated grips. FLHTP has those things and costs $42 more.
Smart move for the Motor Company. I've had Electraglides for years now and thought it was a mistake to lose the standard. And it's cheaper than their electric bike! With a warranty too.
I actually love the reflectors
I dig it ! A reasonably priced after market stereo later on a set of bars and your in cool
This is the bike I would get . Put a cam from S&S or Zippers Performance a 2into1pipe a good air cleaner and tuner .
i kinda wish it had color options like white , blue , red , nothing facy but something other then black. [i like black but i also like other colors ]
Could you do a video explain the electric harness and connections if one wants to put in his own speakers?
If it’s what you’re looking for then it’s perfect. Straight forward bare bones touring bike. Awesome 😎
Looks very similar to my 2007 FLTR. Good "riding description," John.
