Hi James , I grew up in Skegness and still live near. The pier was built in 1881 and was 1850 approx feet long . It was the 4 th longest pier in the uk. As a child and teenager I loved going to the Theatre at the end of the pier. Loads of brilliant acts , Freddy Star , Norman Wisdom etc , loads of icons of the day and singers etc etc , it seated about 1000. It was fab walking back along the pier after a show in the dark with the lights on and hearing the sea 🌊 Then in 1978 the year after I was married there was an awful storm and it was irreparably damaged , broken in two with the centre gone , then in 1985 there was a fire and the theatre that had been left in its own after the storm burned down. So sad. The newest owners say they will re build it to its original length but we will see . Vicki
Hi James. Looked a nice site, we only do service pitches now. Don't blame you for moving. Been to Skegness a few times, same as you not over keen on all the crowds. Nice day out though Skegy is for the kids though. Been using our hot plate all the time now, cadac fills vary unloved. Hope your chest infection clears up soon James. Great vlog mucker. Thumbs up thumped 👍 ....Pete and Su....
Looks a great site hope you feel better soon James
