Insanely creative storytelling. Basically, the plot is based on Earl's real near-death experience when he got hospitalized, it's just artistically enhanced. The guy who puts a necklace on him is his actual husband IRL. Earl goes to the afterlife and encounters four different deities from different cultures, each one representing something about death, for example, Anubis (the Egyptian god) weighs Earl's heart against a feather to see if it is heavy with guilt or whatever. They're all pretty keen to get him dead except Baron Samedi (from Haitian Voodoo I think) who is actually the god of both death and life who decides on whether the person actually dies in that culture and can be negotiated with. He appears to like Earl and notices the necklace on his neck when touching his chin with the cane, and the other gods are unhappy with this familiarity, actively getting in his face about it (also notice all the small BV details like "he can go on and on" with eye rolls). They all try to get at Earl but Baron protects his chest with his own cane. Earl eventually makes them all disappear (everyone takes a fighting stance except Baron who accepts it peacefully like a champ) and goes back to life. The medley ends with "Don't Stop Me Now" on the words "I feel alive", and the necklace is gone so it would seem Baron was pretty real and took it as payment. The way they arranged most of the stuff is really clever, making motifs and lyrics fit their narrative. Freddie Mercury once said, "Do what you want with my music, just don't make it boring". I feel like his music is in good hands here
So we already know the bass for VP is Geoff. The beatboxer is Layne, also can play violin and a really good singer as well. Guy with the beard in the hospital bed is Earl, high tenor and sadly he recently decided to leave the group for personal reasons. The bald guy is Eli (but pronounced like the girls name Ellie), tenor. The African American is J None, baritone. J joined the group after Tony left in ... 2016 I think?? Tony is in the Zombies vs Hillbillies video. Two of my favourite Tony videos are their cover of Phantom Of The Opera ft Rachel Potter. The other is a hilarious skit called Road Trip, both are a must watch. Tony and Rachel both feature in VP’s Just Sing video, which I mentioned in my other comment. The Just Sing video is a lockdown video.
Some help for learning their names: Tenor 1: Earl (guy with awesome beard and laser high voice who sadly just left the group) Tenor 2: Eli (pronounced "L - E", bald guy, here playing Yama Nirvana) Baritone: J None (gentleman with amazing voice and here playing Anubis) Bass: Geoff (pronounced like "Jeff", self explainingly the guy with insane range) Vocal Percussionist: Layne (he does all those insane sounds and beats, but also has a great voice he shows rarely)
The woman in Zombies vs Hillbillies is called Honey, she helped out VoicePlay for the Sing Off, they were good friends with her for years before the show, still good friends now. When you eventually get to Just Sing by VoicePlay (cover of the song from the movie Trolls World Tour), use the captions coz there’s so many other people in the video, including former members such as Honey! Also, VP have just yesterday released a cover of The Bones by Maren Morris ft Emoni Wilkins. Emoni was ALSO on the Sing Off season 4 but in a group called Ten. Emoni also pops up in Just Sing. As so so many other people. Edit: just realised I forgot to congratulate you for 1k, so cool!
The Voice Play collaboration video Just Sing is great fun (the opening is just so damned cute) and features a little friendly bass v. bass Tim v. Geoff action. Voice Play and Home Free and Philharmonic all 'play well' together (as does Avi Kaplan ) . I know they must have some competitive jealousies but I never see it.
Congratulations to 1000 subscribers 🌟. It will keep growing! 🥰 Love that you mixed VP and HF! VP’s guy (can’t remember his name) with the beard is not in the group anymore. He left just a while ago. I would love to see a reaction mash up of VP Boybands in 5 minutes (or sth like that) and HF’s Hunter Hayes medley. That would show how different they are in their styles. Both groups are so talented, and each guy as individuals too. Oh and have you done a reaction of HF’s Quarantine yet?
Congrats on 1K!! 🎉🎉 I’m a Home Fry but I also like good music 😁 some of my favorites from Voiceplay are Phantom Of The Oprah, Just Sing (with captions on) and Daddy Sang Bass. You should also listen to the Sing Off for Home Free if you liked this. They did a battle with Filharmonic that was awesome! Mrduckbear11 is the best one to watch because he has the intros and judges comments.
Voiceplay only used the female singer, for the Sing Off..I like them better by themselves..Home Free's hilarious!!..They're both so amazing & are great friends, been to each other's concerts..Bass-Tim is 🔥🔥
VP (with Rachel Potter) also did a cover of some of the songs from Moana. I love that one. I love everything by VP and Home Free. you can't go wrong with any of it.
I love this one!! Funny, but oh so good! I had the same reaction in my body that you did when Tim hit that low note! My whole body got a chill! The female, Honey, for Voice Play was mainly with them for the Sing Off. She left a short while after the Sing Off (probably after their after-show tour). Geoff and Tim have pretty much the same range. I actually like Voice as an all male group. Voice Play is really good! They’re in my top 3 favorite A Capella groups. They, like Home Free, have had lineup changes over the years. The guy in the hospital gown, Earl, just recently left the group and I don’t think he’s been replaced yet. The song with “Is this the real life” is Bohemian Rhapsody”. You’ve got to love a man with that range (Geoff and Tim). LOL Both groups do mash-ups very well! Voice Play does more theatrical styling than Home Free. I loved your reaction, though! Oh, and congrats on your 1K subs!!!
I recommend Can't Help Falling in Love by VoicePlay to hear some amazing harmonies by them. Also, Tim Foust's own rendition of Can't Help Falling in Love is by far my favourite. Also recommended😂
Loved your reaction! 😊 Zombies vs Hillbillies always makes me laugh out loud, it's very creative and fun, while showing the difference between VoicePlay and Home Free. I loved Queen in 5 minutes, it was a great mashup, imo!! Thanks for sharing, I will continue to explore VoicePlay with your videos! 😊 Congrats on the 1k subs!!!! 🥳 See you next time!
Voiceplay's video Moana Medley from Disney's Moana has most of the members and gives names to them. Plus it has Rachel Potter who is an amazing female singer. Their Boy Bands video is another awesome video by them that you should check out. It takes you on a trip through boy band history
Yeah there is a difference in the harmonies of the two groups. I think it’s because Voice play does a low bass and those very high parts but the middle is kind of missing, while home free does like bass and the middle section and the high part..........I guess that’s the reason.😃
Beatboxer's name is Layne, the main vocalist in this song is Earl (high tenor), bald guy's name is Eli (lower tenor) and the guy with amazing riffs is J.None (baritone)
VoicePlay is one of my favorite groups, but they have a, I guess tin-nier??? sound on top? More face forward? Home Free sounds more solid and rich and that could just be me. That is not meant to be a criticism, because I do like them both, just a different style and sound. I've been to see VP, and as much as I adore HF, I haven't bee to see them. Yet. Someday. LOL Thanks! ^_^
Also if you want to see more singing from the beatboxer i recommend their Heart of Life song, which was the first song they released after their bearded high tenor left the group. And my other recommendations would be Warriors, Panic in 4 minutes (parts 1 and 2), and I Will Survive.
Great reaction! I recommend Voice Play Panic in 4 minutes Part 1 & 2 and Trapped (Billie Eilish mash up). Also, Just Sing (play with the captions - Identifies the guest singers). Congrats on 1K! Looking forward to your next one ;-)
survivor was originally going to be a song off song ,but they never needed it so thought it would be fun to use it anyway .voiceplays bass Geoff ,has done some arranging for home free too
Loved the reaction, congrats on the 1,000 Subs! Would love to see your reactions of Tim's, Geoff's... just other Bass Singer's Vocal ranges (an immediate 'other' that comes to mind is Elliot Robinson)
I think that reacting to vocal range videos is bad because then he'll know many impressive notes they sung and if he'll react to the videos with those notes he would less impressed.
Voice Play’s high high tenor Earl Elkins has just left the group, and their sound will prolly change a bit. Yes, all the three singers (Earl Elkins, Eli Jacobson and J.None) have quite high voices, so the mix is airy. The bass, Geoff Castellucci, has a great range and Layne Stein the beatboxer is solid, even tho sometimes a bit boring (sorry, Voice Playas!).
From what I recall Earl was in the group since they formed (either 1996 or 1997 iirc), so he was there for quite a while! It's a shame to see him go, and I don't think he's announced why he chose to leave, but after 24 years I certainly can't blame him for wanting to change.
Check out VoicePlays quarantinesong -- just sing , you have to remember this request comes from a loyal FRY , there is a little surprice in there for you . Love from your Danish QoFry
I think that while Honey, the female in Voiceplay, was with the group their harmony was with the four guys and she acted as a lead singer. I’m not musically trained but that’s my take. No offense to her but they are better without that lead singer presence.
Check out all reactions 😊 :

Layne is brilliant!!

And also Tim Foust is in this cover (+amazing Geoff-Tim bass battle)

Voice Play and Home Free and Philharmonic all 'play well' together (as does Avi Kaplan ) . I know they must have some competitive jealousies but I never see it.
There's always a healthy competition between great artists but again we're just human haha
They did a cover of Sh-Boom Sh-Boom. It is really good. Their harmonies are well suited for the “Doo Wop” style
Yess!! The "Bee bop doo wop" Jazzy vibe!!
VoicePlay's cover of Daddy Sang Bass is another one that will show off the high and low ranges of the group!
Will check it out :-)
I loved this video. It looked like they had so much fun. I love seeing your reactions as well.
Glad you enjoyed

The man at the start and the end with Earl is actually his husband! :)

Home Free's harmonies are super-rich, espec. w/Chance's bass now- 2 basses..😊
Annemay Seyfried
So true 😁
VP (with Rachel Potter) also did a cover of some of the songs from Moana. I love that one. I love everything by VP and Home Free. you can't go wrong with any of it.
Agreed! Stay tuned

Loved it all! Congrats on reaching 1K. You so deserve it.

I loved Earl's line, "Cause my zombie taught me better than that."
Thank you!! 😁
Shoutout to your 1K! Love looking back to when we were all just getting acquainted ☺️❤️‼️
Love Voiceplay too !!! Their Queen remix is AMAZING !!!
So cool!!
Congrats on the subs!!! Your reactions are so much fun!
Another fun VP mashup is Boy Bands in 5 Minutes..
Thank you!! 😁 I will check it out
I am loving binge watching your videos. Always a positive experience watching you enjoy some great music.
Yes, waited for this! Thanks for the wonderful reaction and congrats to 1k subs!! Would love more voiceplay reactions
More to come! Stay tuned :-)
Voiceplay's video Moana Medley from Disney's Moana has most of the members and gives names to them. Plus it has Rachel Potter who is an amazing female singer. Their Boy Bands video is another awesome video by them that you should check out. It takes you on a trip through boy band history
I will check it out :-)
So I define Voiceplay as very theatrical sounding, Home Free as more country, and Pentatonix as very pop sounding.
Spot on!
Congrats on your 1000 subs! It will climb fast from here. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! That's the plan!
I just commented yesterday asking about Survivor and now this pops up in my recommendations lol. 👍🏼
A few songs I recommend by Voiceplay is daddy sang bass, moana melody and Disney on broadway
Stay tuned
And just look at all of you now ☺️❤️‼️
Yeah there is a difference in the harmonies of the two groups.
I think it’s because Voice play does a low bass and those very high parts but the middle is kind of missing, while home free does like bass and the middle section and the high part..........I guess that’s the reason.😃
Good point!
QoFyReacts glad I got some point😜.
Just found this reaction. It’s fun to watch you reacting before you knew their names.
My two favorite acapella groups!!! I love it!!!!!!
Beatboxer's name is Layne, the main vocalist in this song is Earl (high tenor), bald guy's name is Eli (lower tenor) and the guy with amazing riffs is J.None (baritone)

Exactly it’s simply an observation
You’re welcome ☺️
Also if you want to see more singing from the beatboxer i recommend their Heart of Life song, which was the first song they released after their bearded high tenor left the group. And my other recommendations would be Warriors, Panic in 4 minutes (parts 1 and 2), and I Will Survive.
Will check them out :)
I really preffer Voiceplay, their arrangements and playfullness are awesome
Great reaction! I recommend Voice Play Panic in 4 minutes Part 1 & 2 and Trapped (Billie Eilish mash up). Also, Just Sing (play with the captions - Identifies the guest singers). Congrats on 1K! Looking forward to your next one ;-)
I will check it out and Thank you :-)
Congrats on 1k! Knew you'd enjoy Zombies vs. Hillbillies 😂
You know it! haha And thank you so much April
@@QofyReacts You're Welcome! Keep up the great work!
Voiceplay's may the circle be unbroken is my favorite song by them. It's very bass forward which may be why.
Will check it out
@@QofyReacts I realized it's also Daddy sang bass. They put the two songs together.
survivor was originally going to be a song off song ,but they never needed it so thought it would be fun to use it anyway .voiceplays bass Geoff ,has done some arranging for home free too
Geoff is amazing too
Loved the reaction, congrats on the 1,000 Subs!

Bruh7
Mmm 🤔 good point too
How in the world is Austin singing with teeth in his mouth? Really enjoyed the tribute to Queen and watching your reaction! Keep up the good work.
So good! Thank you
"How in the world is Austin singing with teeth in his mouth?"
He's not. They don't record the vocals and the videos simultaneously.
If you want to know the names of the members of Voiceplay you should check out their video Moana Medley!
Great reaction!
Will do :-)
This one is new to me. Fun.
Home Free looks crazy here!
So cool
This is not my favorite one of (Home Free) but you should do a reaction to there cover of (John Mayer) In The Blood. There harmonies are AWESOME!!!
In the Blood is already done :-)
Survivor was so funny. How does that guy sing with those teeth?!
Great reaction 😊
This was really fun 🥳😉
You should do the bass battle between Avi,Tim,and Geoff
Will have a look eventually
Thanks man love you’re reaction

So sad 😭. Personally I’m hoping for Rachel to join the group. I love Rachel!
Its a shame that groups fail to stay constant but it happens
