  • I saw an ad for Quink Ink being used as an art supply and couldn't resist buying it. Is it worth the mini splurge? I test this out and see how well it works for painting.

Please try the Parker Quink Ink - BLACK. It's incredible on wet paper. As the ink moves on the paper, it produces a multitude of various blue/black/grey colours including a golden colour.

As a writer, and not a visual artist, this was interesting to watch.
Without seeing the ad you mentioned, I'd assume it was a fountain pen store trying to show different characteristics of the ink by doing different things with it. Anderson Pens comes to mind.
I'm not sure about the color change. Perhaps different dye components and stabilizers than what is typical in paint? Paper can also influence color and texture of the ink.
Have you played with Quink black? I jumped into a pool with a notepad in my pocket once. When the ink got wet, it separated into interesting shades of blue and orange-yellow.

@@RebelUnicornCrafts Black is the one that is for art as it breaks into different hues. Blue is only good for writing

The package says 'Blue-Black', but it's more of a midnight blue
