I feel your woes. My house is feom 1910. I have conrete walls. We have massive wood beams in the basement. Copper plumping, fabric covered electrical wires.
Cupboards from the 50s.
We also have the stove pipe attachments on our ceiling. I almost wish they had left the stoves attached.
