Having a spammable meatshield that can guarantee a Wave Attack and a 50% chance to curse will basically permacurse any Alien/Angel enemy. Not to mention that they can build up some insane damage over time to the point that it’s be ridiculous. I can legit see Catellite becoming a generalist attacker, or at least a strong niche attacker, like Dark Lazer.
@@Azmie11that can be addressed thru the usage of research combos. Why change that? It’s the standard solution, and shigong is a “standard” specialized meatshield. By standard, I mean that Shigong doesn’t do anything unconventioal, so there isn’t a whole lot of reason for giving him something too special. Removing the need to use research combo kind of ruins the point, and it suddenly raises Shigong’s power above its counterparts: Ramen, maybe Maximum,… You get the point.
To be honest, I think dodge may be better choice than target angel because ramen can work well with almost angel enemies while catellite is bullied by mesocosmocyclone and stack of alien enemies
I do like the idea of cursing aliens, as it actually makes a lot of sense to be able to remove some of the abilities that they have. While initially i dismissed the idea of the lvl 1 wave, i do think that it could have some benefit over a simple area attack, as area attack significantly changes the purpose of the unit. Instead, i would make it a lvl 2 mini wave. It wouldn't massively change its damage output, but it increases its range slightly, effectively giving it almost an omnistrike that can reach alien enemies with slightly higher range. I am also partial on giving it slight cooldown reduction, as to be more on par with the more spammable meatshields, and so that the defense doesn't need to change all that much. Instead, I would give it anti relic as a target rather than anti angel, as there are not enough cheap anti relic meatshields that can output a slight amount of damage. (and of course the attack and defense up talents)
Either anti-relic or maybe anti-floating. While yes, the niche is occupied by octo, it's still not nearly as spammable as catellite. And also we don't have a cheap spammable meatshield for floatings other than gold brick which relies too heavily on it's resist ability and doesn't do well on mixed stages.
@@KaghtaviyThere's Miku cat and for relics we've got corn and normal cat. I think catelite could get colossus slayer as to counter horrorpotamus in early game, since it is one of the hardest stages ever
@@benzenoztahnlahkza371 1. Miku is a collab unit. 2. Dodge meatshields are cringe. Also colossus slayer is redundant because of jetpack cat and no sane person would ever want to go for horrorpotamus in general, especially in the early game. It could get behemoth slayer instead if you don't want floating target, since our other spammable behemoth slayer meatshield, gas mask, is kinda pathetic and the offensive bonuses for catellite would be pretty useful.
I do have one problem with Catellite's Angel targeting. It's a good idea in concept, but isn't useful as you pitched it to be primarily because of Ramen(I swear I'm not gonna make the "outclassed by Ramen" argument, I mean, I kinda am a little bit, but just stick with me). 1st, that talent will only be useful if purchased along side the curse and wave ability. Ramen will completely outshine Catellite as an angle meatshield and as a damager if purchased by itself, and the curse won't be effective unless you have the wave attack for area attack. But even if you do purchase all of them, there is still one major issue, and you can even kind of see it in the video. Catellite's attack animation is simply too long. Angels are a super strong trait stat-wise because they're balanced around Ramen, and with Cetallite's extremely low range, low speed, and slow attack, he's more likely to die before he can even get a hit off and use the curse and wave you've given him. It's a really good idea in concept, and I love your creativity, but I honestly don't think his angel targeting would be worth it. Instead, I think a much better talent in place of it would be speed up. One of Catellite's biggest problems is his slow speed and low range combination. It's the reason why his strong against ability was only ever seen as a debuffed resist, he can't make use of his attack buff because he can never get a hit in. Increasing his speed would not only allow him to reach the front line faster, but it would also reduce the amount of time between when he enters the enemy's range and when he attacks, making it mush more likely he actually attacks, making better use of his attack buff as well as the other abilities you've given him here. He doesn't need more targets, he works fine as an anti alien, but he could work better which is the primary thing I think his talents should do. These are just some of my thoughts, overall I love the video and I really like your choices for his other talents. Just to clarify, I don't think target angel is a bad idea as a talent, his synergy with Ramen would be good overall, I just don't think it's the best idea. Feel free to disagree and write me a response :) Also, I do believe that giving him 10 extra speed like can can got would be too fast as he'd rush ahead of everyone else and possibly trigger a boss earlier than you want, so only having the talent go to level 5 similar to Catasauras's critical hit up would be better. I think it's an interesting idea and worth you testing since I can't test. If you do do some testing, let me know how it works out. This would change his role to almost a spammable rusher/debuffer and I think that could turn out quite well. But like I said, unless you test it, it's just a concept.
Speed is a good idea, and I originally considered it. However, there are some factors to consider. It would be heavy competition for Jiangshi and Riceball as they are both fast 4 Star meatshields. Also, remember that the point of the video is to make him into a spammable melee unit, and speed up doesn't really help with that. We need the other talents to increase his damage and provide additional incentive. Talents aren't about making the unit stronger directly, it adds value to the unit in more unique ways by adding unique abilities and playstyles. Talents aren't supposed to be optimal for unit improvement, nor a necessary thing to purchase and consider the unit to have. Love how you are thinking about it though! 💪
@@Hydromint i can say this is actually good, as catalite with 5 speed buff is good for general and specialized usage when u need a fast and bulky enough meatshield, while not outclass riceball due to having slower speed and lack of poison immunity, and jiangsi cuz jiangsi is 2 hit meatshield for enermies with 1 hit kill dmg Edit1:faster speed also mean higher chance to pand a hit
@@Hydromint I do agree with a lot of what you said, and I had not considered how this would powercreep fast 4 star meatshields. However, I do disagree with you saying that speed up would not assist his role as a melee attacker. Faster speed would make his low range and long foreswing less of an issue, allowing him to more consistently land hits in stages with strong dps threats, which is most stages, especially alien stages. I do still agree that angel targeting is an acceptable talent for Catellite given the other talents you've bestowed him with, and I also agree that talents aren't necessarily supposed to be the optimal improvements, they're supposed to make the unit better without breaking game balance. However, I'm simply stating that level 5 speed up would do just that as well as you angel targeting. This is all just thought experiments, and I believe both yours and my suggestions work fine, I'm simply stating an alternative. Honestly though, my biggest problem with your choice of talents is how reliant they are on each other to work, not that that makes them bad in any way, but if this were truly implemented in the game, it would essentially require you to buy all of them to make any of them work(Except wave, that's a great addition on its own), and I believe speed up would avoid this issue. I think that having all three talents are a bit too much. It feels weird to go from "Anti-alien meatshield" to "Anti-alien and anti-angel meatshield and curser that can also clear peons" For waves, Catellite is known for its decent damage: 5.5k and spawns every 3.87s at lv30 scaling, around 15% more "DPS" than a singular Manic Macho albeit with a shorter wave. I initially thought that waves would still be fine, but I realized that Catellite can probably juggle Weyland and can one-shot Mr Angels (albeit needing some levels and/or damage talents for 200% Mr Angels), which is probably a bit too much. Perhaps a Lv1 Surge attack that spawns no further than 170 range ahead (because Surge attacks have 125 piercing range) would be better to ensure it doesn't invalidate Weyland. Curse is probably too strong if you look at it from the perspective of it removing what makes Winged Pigge so strong and annoying to fight against... but it removes what makes Winged Pigge so annoying to fight against so I have no complaints.
Why does it feel weird? Lots of talents completely alter units. Just look at the majority of special cat talents. Catellite can't really juggle anything, you can try it with some testing and you'll see. Unless it's really boosted of course. Surge attack with a spawn radius like that kinda removes the point of the surge... Winged pigge is not trivialized at all, as you can see in the background footage he is still a threat... IMO strong meatshields are meant to be better in stages with more traits than resist meatshields because supposedly if they had resist their base hp would be lower
Me again, I don’t really know about the angel targeting talent cuz the main enemy you mentioned that catellite could counter (with your custom talents) is winged piggie but then this would completely powercreep any and all stages that feature w. Piggie and having a cat that competes with ramen is a bit weird (not weird though I couldn’t think of another word) like there is one meatshield/tanker for each trait, roe for red, ramen for angel, cone and future for relic, cone and cactus for aku etc… there’s pretty much no secondary unit (that doesn’t get outclassed) I may be wrong but I presume floating would be a better option due to the fact that there’s no good meatshield specialized for floating and this wouldn’t be crazy as you said these talents are for expanding the unit's niches not improving directly other than that the curse and wave abilities are definitely very creative on your part, to be fair you do have bcu to test your catellite and I don’t so you have the upperhand to actually know if catellite works best with angel or floating
@@Tekkonecko it is a collab unit so not accessible to everyone, and I have him and I find him to be quite useless normal meatshields are always in most situations better
My thoughts is that wave level 1 is too powerful offensive wise, I would prefer lv 2 mini-wave instead, which can complement curse to spread on wider field. Curse is fine ability, Imagine if it can shut down warp completely on field. But reducing the duration to 3-4 second is ok, to balance out ability spread. Target angel might be too overkill even if I want to have reliable Winged Pigge counter, i'll go with Curse Immune instead only because of PONOS' obsession with Immune/Resist talents, and the fear of making units too powerful.
If this was official The sheer amount of people that will instantly claim that these talents are garbage will be really funny. The quotes will very likely be: “Catellite has no reason to have a wave” “Curse is a garbage ability” And the infamous “Outclassed by ramen”
These concepts look really good but i fear that cattelite womt be usef on angels other than winged pigge stages and ramen will stay used everywhere else
I mean, wave attack IS effective double damage PLUS bonus area damage. Think about it. WITHOUT talents, it does around 2.8k dps single target. WITH talents, it reaches 5.6k single target, plus bonus to area damage. That's literally just double damage. Personally, I like the concept, but I think a level 1 minisurge or lv2 miniwave would be better. If you dont want effective double damage, then to smol
Reunion Li'l Rei really does not need talents, she's already insanely good as is, she's probably even as good as Ramen for angels, maybe a cooldown reduction of a few seconds or a dodge duration of one more second is fine, but talents would make her too op

@@C0DY420yes but adding soulstrike to what is a MEATSHIELD is a really bad idea?!? it's not like shigong is gonna be able to kill tankier peons and progress even when stacked, and for weaker ones getting stalled even if it's just for a brief moment can and will be detrimental in a lot of scenarios
Curse on catelite is crazy ngl, love the thought put on this, really great video but i think wave + curse is a little bit too strong, especially for a unit that target starred aliens, maybe imo i will replace wave for mini wave or shorter curse duration, still, great analisis, u got a new subscriber
Yeah, I agree with all talents, they wouldn't make this unit op, but usable and good. I would personaly love to use him against winged piegge.
Ponos doing my boy dirty :(, Also I love how you've just created an actual op version of doll cats lmao
damn missed most of the premire :(
oof
Hey, fun fact: lil dark cat is the best axe variant not because of his damage because he has freeze on talents
IMO strong meatshields are meant to be better in stages with more traits than resist meatshields because supposedly if they had resist their base hp would be lower
Honestly I thought of miniwave as a talent for Cattelite even before this video came out (also with a friend we gave Shingong talents)
Funnily we end up getting an angel spammable curser unit in form of cafeteria
Very cool concept
I have an amazing purpose for catalite. only use cat combo's and catellite for the last growing blue stage.
Shigong cat: YOU DIDNT HAVE TO CUT ME OFF
Me again, I don’t really know about the angel targeting talent cuz the main enemy you mentioned that catellite could counter (with your custom talents) is winged piggie but then this would completely powercreep any and all stages that feature w.
Floating does have a good specialized meat shield, in nekokhamen
@@Tekkonecko it is a collab unit so not accessible to everyone, and I have him and I find him to be quite useless normal meatshields are always in most situations better
@@william_IV4 he's quite litteraly just a better untalented ramen, lower cost and cooldown for a whopping 80 less hp
@@Tekkonecko my point still stands though, that he is a limited unit only appearing once a year
My thoughts is that wave level 1 is too powerful offensive wise, I would prefer lv 2 mini-wave instead, which can complement curse to spread on wider field.
Imagine catellite get relic target curse immune and surge immune so he can anti relic 4star meat shield 💀💀
surge resist*
The cone cat in question:
Catalite talents before gta 6
Edit: well now im sad again, i thought it was actual thing
Oof sorry to hear that...
Where are you bro?
I love the concept
Imagine the legend units got talents I am waiting for a. Bahuamut to get a survive and strengthen
If this was official The sheer amount of people that will instantly claim that these talents are garbage will be really funny.
The quotes will very likely be:
“Catellite has no reason to have a wave”
“Curse is a garbage ability”
And the infamous
“Outclassed by ramen”
LOL ikr!
You forgot "Outclassed by Sanzo"
Japanese community :-:
@@Calmtimer he’s not a slower or freezer but yeah I could see some dipwads saying that.
@@Calmtimer I would definitely use Sanzo against Winged Pigge.
I wonder how would he perform if instead of curse/target angel he gaines a 15k health barrier
I literally just wondered when catellite will get talents
Bro literally just turned catalite into chuan chuan haunters
These concepts look really good but i fear that cattelite womt be usef on angels other than winged pigge stages and ramen will stay used everywhere else
How dare you make me think they’d finally make this thing useful
Normal talents next?
They're gonna give it Survive, aren't they?
hi! i wondered what battle cats was coded in
I mean, wave attack IS effective double damage PLUS bonus area damage.
Yup you're right. The double damage I was referring to in the video was double area damage, mb for not clarifying
I wish I can create custom levels in battle cats
shigong when this video
How did you modify Catelite to add wave attacks/other abilities for the background in the video? Is it a mod?
It's Battle Cats Ultimate, you can take a look! It allows you to make custom cats, enemies, stages etc.
@@Hydromint I actually already have it! Didn't realize it could be used for all that, though.
This definately aged well
I predicted this Cattelite shall be worth again overthrow kinjirou
I would really appreciate if Cattelite or Shigong could get Sage Slayer
TOO POST GAME
@@PTCLegacy777 it didn't stopped PONOS from giving Rodeo cat relic targeting
We don’t even have a sage zombie or alien yet
@@Geology051 I mean Sage Angel came out a full update after Soractes dropped
@@Geology051 IT WILL COME ONE DAY MI AMIGO
Can you make axe cat a decent unit if he had an ultraform
As a catelite user it would be too op
that is just brainwashed axe true form tho
Shigong next??
👀
Sometimes the music is too loud and its hard to hear actual voice
Noted! 👍
Survive(33%) it need survive even tho it alien meat sheild it got one shot by some alien
I didin't see the talent button :(
3 normal tallent? Where is useless resistans?
Wushu cat?
Shigong: Am I a joke?
Shigong is coming! He's added way later than Catellite so he kinda isn't part of the og og set if you know what I mean :p
what about shigong
winged peege?
m. yeah.
Wait so catellite has no talents???
Improve cat god plz
He is quite disappointing
👀
Did you left youtube?
dont think battle rats is a game about balance
angel curse hmmmm papuuuuu :>
STAR PENG POWERCREEP YIPPEE
Please make a talents video for both Shigong (because it suffers the same as Cattelite) and Chibi Rei, because I love her.
Reunion Li'l Rei really does not need talents, she's already insanely good as is, she's probably even as good as Ramen for angels, maybe a cooldown reduction of a few seconds or a dodge duration of one more second is fine, but talents would make her too op
Mola luffy
If Hydromint replies, he's gay
hi what's up
@@Hydromint hell nah bro

I wanted to be showcased a hypermaxed catelite cuz it would've been funny to see it just absolutely destroy things
