Doesn't he seem like he'd hands down be the funniest person in the band but in a really dry way? I love his demeanor, especially when he was young and high all the time.
Fui Gebhardt1 Adore *was* better, in every way. There’s nothing wrong w stating the truth, you can see today how each album stands in time. The only idiotic thing was how Billy doubted himself after this, it’s sad
Billy is an incredible genius. I don't think he was fully appreciated 20 years ago. Now that the smoke of time has cleared, it has become abundantly clear.
The number of people who say an SP song saved their life brings tears to my eyes. When I was in college and lightheartedly enjoying their music, others were hearing the same SP songs and fighting for their lives.
I was 11 in 98. Wasn't a big music fan yet but in 96 I had seen all the melon collie videos a million times and loved them to death (I was just to young to have any notion of fandom yet). When I finally got into music, ironically in 1998, it was with all the new stuff coming up that my young mind could understand (alternative rock got buried, unless you were already following it). But recently I've gone back and discovered the pumpkins and it's amazing how much I have connected with Adore. Like it was meant for me all along
Jimmy was the powerhouse and the pulse, that's for sure, but Adore did not disappoint. He was missed, but Billy proved that he could put out an album every bit as good as what came before. It is brilliant from start to finish and would have been entirely different had Jimmy played on it.
The use of synthesizers on Adore gave the Pumpkins a totally different sound and it’s what made the album so great, IMO. They were forced to use synthesizers and drum machines in Chamberlain’s absence that gave the album that specific sound.
I remember seeing an interview with him on MTV just prior to the release of ‘Adore’ and he said some of the new music ‘was electronic but in a garbage kind of way’ and then he laughed and reiterated he meant the band Garbage!
She was having drug problems and apparently mental health issues. She and Billy didn’t get along well at all at this point either. If you ask me Billy was abusive towards her and James.
"I did wear some white clothing at one point. I was pretty far gone." Lol James is low-key hilarious.
LMAO!

Lol. I thought the same thing. So under the radar hilarious
I farted so hard when I heard him say that
I dont get it
Everything about Adore is so beautiful and pure. I love it so much.
Yes.

It would work just as well as a solo acoustic album by billy but it is a masterpiece!

"...goes back to Homer - and I don't mean Simpson."
I was going to comment the same thing! That comment gave me life.
Kinda sad that he felt he needed to clarify that, but he he probably did to be fair XD
No shit

Adore is such a beautiful album. I miss 1998.
Karina F I do too. This album takes me right back there. Such an innocent time...
Billy is really eloquent here. He is often misunderstood
corgan really was handsome as hell.
the cheekbones and eyes
Yes and he always felt like he wasn't.
his hottest era for sure
I love Adore album. My first Smashing pumpkins album was Adore. I was 14 when I got that album 1998.
Same hear. I discovered SP backwards
Adore was my first Pumpkins album too! ❤

Daphne descends is sooo good....
that and To Sheila
Billy is so human here. He loves jimmy and was trying to protect him
Adore is such a beautiful album. The Pumpkins are so iconic.
Poor Billy misses Jimmy so bad in this video. Luckily he came back like 5 months later lol
Louie Husted 2 years later but then darcy was fired
D'arcy wasn't fired. She quit.
@Fui Gebhardt1 its interesting, because sp is one of those bands where you can hear the bass parts very clearly
God, Darcy was the cutest thing ever.
inutero10 she was cute but also a real bitch ... watch any interview and you will realise how painful and mean she was
@@MrHsauvageau YUP
MrHsauvageau she’s just very sarcastic. I wouldn’t call her mean.
@@RandyRhoadsRules3 sure dude…
Adore turns 21 this year!
I love adore . Un album mystérieux , atmosphérique , profond
Je suis d'accord!
D'arcy is right, Adore still doesnt seem dated at all.
Had this on vhs. Know this by heart, every line, even after all those years
I had this recorded on vhs in 1998. THE MEMORIES! I miss them being like this.
I remember seeing this the night before the record released

Thank you for uploading!
It's nice to hear D'Arcy talk here, you can see what an intelligent, sensitive soul she is :-)
It's really a shame how misunderstood Adore and Machina were at the time. Billy's works are often bit appreciated until years after. He's genius.
Adore is a masterpiece. Stands strong along side MCIS and Siamese Dream.
Thank you, very nice upload.
A legend. A master. A genius.
i love this album
Hearing him talk about producing his own vocals was interesting
I always thought Adore had his best vocal performance
I'd be interested to find out which 4 or 5 songs D'arcy is talking about.
One of them is definitely Crestfallen, I think she's gone on record saying that.
The song she refers to with the 'storyline' is the fantastic, "The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete"
mayanroses 1 There is also a possibility she’s referring to Annie-Dog. Adore is a lovely piece of music.
Also “For Martha”.. it was written after Corgans Mother’s death.
Adore is Pumpkin's zenith.
One of the best bands ever! O))
Great upload :)
Just imagine how great an album Adore could have been had Chamberlain still been in the band when it was recorded?
The use of synthesizers on Adore gave the Pumpkins a totally different sound and it’s what made the album so great, IMO. They were forced to use synthesizers and drum machines in Chamberlain’s absence that gave the album that specific sound.
Believeeee!#
James is badass
Very nice!
Listen to ‘Crestfallen’ and imagine it as a Backstreet Boys song.. it would have been a single and sold 8 million copies.
Crestfallen was supposed to be the official 3rd single but Virgin gave up on the album by that point. It was released as promo.
What is the name of the song that starts to play at 11:28?
Pug
@@Arkadysom Thank You!
What's the song at 8:00
ScottieWallaceness I Am One
black and white clips from 33= edgy and moody enough for MTV to talk about Adore over.
I wonder if Corgan was a fan of Garbage at the time?
I remember seeing an interview with him on MTV just prior to the release of ‘Adore’ and he said some of the new music ‘was electronic but in a garbage kind of way’ and then he laughed and reiterated he meant the band Garbage!
@@jimmylad7358 thanx for sharing!
Darcy
Yeh Darcy like the knew direction so much she bounced... lol. I'm sure there were plenty of reason though.
Darcy was a bitch ... like it or not this girl became a nightmare
She was having drug problems and apparently mental health issues. She and Billy didn’t get along well at all at this point either. If you ask me Billy was abusive towards her and James.
Did Billy say..... "the land of rape and honey" ,or am I going deaf.....???
I think it's "grape and honey".
He did, but it refers to rapeseed, which is a crop
Adore just didn’t do anything for me. It was a big let down for me after Mellon collie
Try checking out the live renditions of songs off Adore. They might kindle enough interest in checking out the studio versions.
Nelson Velazquez i saw them on this tour. It just didn’t move me

Everything is cool except his lack of hair
He had cool long hair once. Even cooler button up shirts
He was balding.
I'm gonna marry William. 🤑
If only Kurt Cobain and Darcy had become lovers.
Ondrej von Hamburg dude actually could of been very interesting
Well, D'Arcy was into heroin as well
@@SoundMuzak You sure? I never ever heard heroin being associated with her name but crack was drug of choice that she got arrested for possessing.
