- I bought 3 $10 Nintendo Family Computer Systems from Japan and try to fix them in this video. It turns out they weren't too damaged at all (at first) and only needed a cartridge slot cleaning to get them back up in running. I also try to fix the Family Basic Cartridge I was sent with the systems and show off the use of the KrzysioCart.

Glad to see I'm not the only one struggling to get a Famicom working again. I wound up replacing the cartridge connector thinking that had to be the issue, but looks like the more likely issue are my cartridges and dirty connectors. Going to give it another shot after watching your very nice video. Thanks for this!
Great vid, I got a Famicom from Japan and it booted up once but didn't after I cleaned the controller. I used that paper method to clean the pins and found a dust bunny large enough to cover one pin and once it was removed everything worked fine.
You can adjust the pot on the rf module to change the channel to a lower one
U can also use a vcr that output at chanel 3 but input chanel 95 or 96 that is what i would do but the pot one is surely alternative i just dont want to modify mine at all
Great vid, you might want to lower the volume of the music in future videos; it's a bit difficult to concentrate on your commentary.
Krzysiocart cartridge shows flashing colours beacause, it showing that the ROM is loading. If blinking goes faster game is gonna be turned on soon! I bought for me that cartridge and it shows same things before loading game.
To be honest I can't get enough of the design of the Famicom it looks awesome
Except the fact that the controller wire is short as frick
Great vid!
These Nintendo famicon are durable. I know many of these are still working today. Back in the 80's i have taiwan made famicon its durable also. I failed to restore it caused ic parts wasn't available & rarely can find it. Then in late 90's china made famicon become common but its disposable. It completely vanished in market when sony playstation & other disc type console home video game became famous
I don't know about corrosion of that level, but brasso works pretty great and cleans better than ipa in my experience. They come out looking brand new after very little scrubbing, whereas with IPA you'll still have dark streaks on them unless you scrub a lot.
Now I like this guy
The nintendo famicom is the Japanese counterpart of the nintendo entertainment system the famicom uses 60 pins the nintendo entertainment system uses 72 pins
I can't get a clean video signal out of my junk famicom. The audio works and the game is working as I can start the game and play it and hear the sounds. I tried adjusting the RF pot and it doesn't seem to help. Also, what's with the 8 bit song from that Taiwanese movie about the garbage collector? lol That was so random.
Imo I think your cartridge is far too gone to fix only using cleaning. You can clearly see that the Family Basic cartridge has darkened tracks, which means that the corrosion from the batteries that were inside it years ago leaked and corroded away the copper. It can be fixed, but you probably have to rewire some tracks.
Has it backed up anyway
i dunno, it's not my business, but IT PRONUNCES KSHYSH-YO KART (and this cart almost always gives some full screen colors during game loading in case u haven't already know :))
Replace the FUSE on the first one . Those later models with the FF logo have those fuses and they just love to "burn". BTW SNES have those too.
Were is the fuselagem on the board/psu ? My famicom won't turn on.
@@The_Traveling_Clown the Fuse is one little black thing on the power board near the power jack
@@intel386DX Do you know whatvthat fuse is rated for?
@@The_Traveling_Clown it is whritten on the Fuse . If I am not mistaken it is rated for 1.5A . But you can put similer .or even regular cindicter
@intel386DX I just tested that fuse. It gives me no continuity and a voltage drop of 10 to 6.7 . Could there be something wrong with it?
Giving off
You can use a magic eraser to scrub the cartridge pins, soak the eraser in some rubbing alcohol

Oh good, I was just coming here to post that. I laughed my ass off when I recognized the tune

“The nes power supply gives it ac current “
This is not true
Both use an AC to DC adapter. The difference is the POLARITY in current which will, yes, ruin your system if you use the wrong one. (Been there, done that, many years ago)
No, the NES power supply gives 9VDC. There's an internal converter from AC to DC in the NES.
