It's no easy task to bring in the night. The subtlety and scale is overwhelming, but it's what Luna lives for. Over the years, her routine has become something of a dance, partly for efficiency, but mostly from the sheer joy of painting the world in her beloved starlight.

I just realized this was the credits song for the Lullaby for a Princess that I've watched hundreds of times over and yet only now am I finding this full masterpiece, this is a beautiful moment of time captured
and as we danced gracefully in the moonlight to the tune of the chimes gently blowing in the wind with serene grace, i leaned up and whispered softly in his ear, "...this is a my little pony song."

+xX~StarlightRose~Xx the mother of my son is half against bronies and stuff and then she listened to a brony song without realizing it was brony (soldiers of the night by slyphstorm) and ran around calling it the song of her people, the face she made when i told her the artist is a brony left me having a hard time breathing as i laughed on the floor.
+Vel'Navyr It's interesting what the creations of a Fandom will do for people, even when they're against a show. My cousin was avidly against watching the MLP show because too young/girls (FYI he also declined SU for similar reasons)...BUT he happily read & WROTE fanfiction of it. Made a self-insert with a ponysona. (what do bronies call it? I left after season 2, I forgot.)

Man, the MLP is so weird, they're somehow awesome when it comes to music and animations, like this song is a clear example, it's beautiful, and it completely gives the feeling of being in the stars.

The MLP fandom known for the negative part of the fandom, yeah. But people fail to realize that the internet consists of many toxic people and trolls. So every fandom has them. The bigger the fandom is, the more you'll see those types of people.
It's all about spreading love and giving the awesome/talented people more attention. People focus too much on the negative.
So many of us fans take the lessons from the show, and apply those good things in real life.
Those who neglect the values of the show and spread hate are NOT fans of MLP Friendship is Magic. They just misuse the label.

oh my, this is quite lovely, like a dance among the starlight sky
I can so see this being played in an animation. If I may, I wanna set the scene.
A pony, his first time going to an event such as the gala, as well as his first chance at the mare of his dreams; princess Luna. He tries his best to at least talk to her, and finally, he proceeds with it. He engages in a lively conversation with her, got her to smile, and even as far as giggle at something he says and finally, this song begins to play.
'This is my chance to make a move', he thinks, and asks the princess to dance, and after a little convincing, she complies. They walk into the pairs of ponies and begin to waltz. as they proceed into the song, they begin to move with it, and put their emotion into it. It isn't long before all eyes lock onto them, and begin to applaud as the song comes to an end. She thanks him for such a good time before going and joining her sister to start the performance.
It fades to black, and soon fades back in with the gala ending and the pony heading home. He goes to bed and smiles, for what he finds is Luna, and with a little explanation, he's happy she wanted to do it again some time. He comes up with an idea, a stage forms, as well as a beautiful dress for Luna and the song begins again, and as they begin their waltz once again, the animation ends, fading to black and the credits roll.
If anyone would like to make this a reality, I would love to voice in it.

whenever I hear this I just imagine Luna weaving her way through the night sky- each elegant step bringing with it into existence a small yet luminous little star- Luna goes into a kind of waltz, forgetting all regality and just letting it loose. As she slowly becomes more synchronized with her steps- whole astral constellations pop in, bejwelling the night in their beauty.
Finally, Luna comes to her crescendo, flying towards the moon and opening her sleek navy wings to their full length, releasing a shower of shooting stars below.
A small and sleepy little filly named Twilight looks out her window, eyes widening and shimmering at the sight in front of her.
Meanwhile, another pony, much more bigger but equally sleepy- a mare named Celestia, looks out her own window and just for a few magical moments, all fatigue from the days work and the pain she bore in her hooves were forgotten-
as Celestia smiled.

Huh I always wondered what the little songs at the start and end of the Moon Rises were. Glad I finally found them.
I can just picture Luna waltzing as she arranges the stars at the start of the night... only to led sadly to yet anyonther unloved labor of her's... then I hear 'The Moon Rises' and see her transform into Nightmare Moon... and then I see and hear Celestia's lullaby for her not long after it... bless you ponyphonic.
Whenever I try to imagine a scene with this music my brain mainly comes up with a young gentleman and woman dancing in a field of flowers in the moonlights grace
Thank you guys so much for coming out and playing at Galacon this year, made the whole experience so magical, a memory I'm going to carry the rest of my life. Hearing this being played live brought a tear to my eye! I feel like Luna, constantly overshadowed by my brother, I fear trying something new for he will always do better, science, art, heck, I can't even say when I watch a new TV show because he will even get better at that then me!
The point is, you music is the only place I can be free. I understand music, and although I struggle to create it, I can sit and listen to one of your songs, and that's the only place I can be free, where I can understand each instrument and count each beat. I doesn't sound like much, but I'm free because it isn't a competition to be the best, your music has really helped me in the worst of times, and you can't begin to understand how thankful I am.

You're alone, and sad because you still haven't find your special somepony. Suddenly starring around, you spot a lone mare\stallion fron one of the accesible balconies. He\She's sitting and contempling the moon and the stars. His\her gaze is lost, dejected, as you before see that pony... A beautiful pony you would regret to not to ask if he\she want to dance at the rythm of this walzer...
Timidly you approach it, and touch his\her shoulder with a hoof. Suddenly turns around and your eyes meet... Both smile... The Orchestra inside announces the execution of the walzer... THIS ONE!

*He\She lays the right hoof on your lips and watch at you with a couple of sweet and glassy eyes, agreeing, almost pleading*

Start to dancing together, every single move is smooth and graceful, both keeping your gaze fixed on each other... Then the floor become a soft bed of clouds and all the other ponies around watching at you vanish... Also the castle vanish into thin air, replaced by a sky lit by stars and the moon that shines on you. All around you is empty and starry space...
The Waltz continues and the time expands... Feel you are dancing for hours, also a strange warmth starts to growing from the insideof your chest...

Lucie Dawé Obviously it is a waltz, yep, but that portion of the intro appears to be in 4/4; it changes back to 3/4 pretty soon after, if you notice. And yeah, I'd love to get the left hand in there, but I'm finding that bit difficult and now I've got engineering school to attend to, so if you've got the chops then have at it! Ponyphonic, if you aren't subtle in what feelings your songs instill, then I don't know who is. The song's atmosphere and effects help along what it's trying to represent, and it syncs up almost perfectly with Luna's attitude. I find it hard to think of words that would be able to describe it. You've done it again!

Oh wow. I was able to vividly see a story unfold while listening to this song. If you are up for seeing it for yourself try this:
0:00 Introduces Luna shortly after her release from Nightmare Moon back in season 1 with the same young appearance.
0:10 We see that she is flying over the Everfree Forest near the castle ruins.
0:20 She enters the remains of her & Celestia's old castle & we see as she wanders in sadness until reaching the place where Twilight & Co. rescued her.
0:30 As Luna looks out of the shattered stained-glass window, the skies clear revealing the moon and many stars. Dust particles in the light of the moon shine with a brightness that makes the room take on a celestial appearance filled with mini stars.
0:35 Particles start touching the ground and walls and cause the area to take on a blue glow and revert to the castle's past appearance in a ghostly-blue hue.
0:40 The vast room fills with ghostly images of past ponies that appear constructed from constellations. We realise this was a ballrom as the ghostly ponies start dancing. We circle around Luna as she watches in amazement, reminiscing the past before her banishment.
1:00 Luna is tapped on the shoulder by a ghostly-constellation-colt that proceeds to bow to her as if gesturing for a dance.
1:07 Luna accepts the invitation after slight hesitation.
1:10 The two begin to dance as the camera circles around the two and slowly zooms out to reveal the entire ballroom in dance.
1:20 Luna lets the music take hold as she closes her eyes & starts dancing by herself. She spreads her wings and slowly rises up performing an aerial ballet whilst the ghostly apparitions watch on.
1:30 The apparitions start to glow one by one as they continue to stare at Luna twirling in the air. Luna begin to glow and becomes encapsulated in light until...
1:35 The light around Luna explodes outwards to reveal her in true flowy-mane form. Luna slowly lowers to the ground looking over herself in disbelief.
1:44 The ghostly apparitions kneel before the princess as they continue to glow brighter until they burst back into the starry dust particles they were comprised of and begin to circle around Luna in a rhythmic motion.
1:52 Luna begins her dance again surrounded by this glowing cloud of light as the room around her starts to lose its glow and revert to the ruins.
2:00 Luna watches on as the dust particles start to fade as they float towards the moon out of the broken stained glass window.
