I currently have the launchkey mini mk3 and I absolutely love it. Traveling is simply easy and I can create wherever I want with easy. Plus i can connect it to my iPad as well if I want to be let’s day “extra mobile” 😁

I came here looking for a APC 25 keys review but thanks to you I discovered Arturia minilab mk2, and it really triggered me! In the past I used APC mini on Ableton and loved the workflow. Now I'm looking for a small keyboard, planning to use Ableton and Reaper too. Do you reckon it would make sense to pair the two (minilab and APC mini) to have full control of Ableton scenes and have that amazing 'stop all tracks' 'solo' buttons and faders, or I could achieve pretty much the same results with Minilab only? I’ve got a Seaboard I also got a Yamaha Sy85 & an M1 I’ve got Braille labels on it mainly on the pitch & mod wheel . It’s a great shame how our we to find the pitch & mod wheel . We our the forgotten few
Always love seeing gear comparisons! I think my favorite is still the apk mini because of the pads! I think my favorite controller with keys is my Yamaha electric keyboard. I can plug it in and have my normal piano to play on so it's super comfortable feeling!

@@SanjayC WOW! I had a conversation with a buddy of mine about this lol. My honest response is this...I don't think it's much of an overkill. MAAAAAAYBE the pads when both are connected but even then. When I drive back home to Miami I can easily take both with me and they're not that heavy. They both work great. It even helps the workflow; I use the knobs that I can't use on my LPX.

It's great, because of the compact size. Plus the useful features of each one. The knobs, keys and stop button of the APC and the RGB pads of the Launchpad. They're not velocity sensitive but I have a synth too!
Finally someone giving credit to the amazing Akai APC Key 25... is an amazing device seriously; but certainly you have to concentrate in the things you want to do as producer, beat maker or DJ (cause you can DJ with your DAW :P)... check the things you want or not control with your gear... then you'll get the answer to can choose the correct controller for you :)

In the "if you have more money" section you should probably mention the Akai APC40 MkII as well. It doesn't have some of the shortcomings of the cheaper Akai devices. But obviously cost a bit more.

Hey Sanjay C , My Studio Monitors are working . Turns out the problem was with my Scarlett 4i4 interface where Outputs 1-2 do not provide any response but 3-4 works perfectly fine . Its weird that its only been a month since I bought the interface

Now I'd like to ask you another question: I'm planning to play live with a guitarist. The idea is to make performances where I can record loops (drums, bass, synths ...) on which we can then play over with the guitar and a keyboard sound (piano, organ, rhodes ...). What equipment do you recommend to buy? Again, the main focus is on live performance so I'm looking for something to complement the controller and the MacBook where Ableton works. Nothing professional, just for fun (maybe live session will remain in our studio!) Thanks again, you are really great!
Fantastic review kudos ! I have a q. Given that the ‘Launchpad Pro’ does not have knobs, how would one go about (for example) assigning control to a cutoff on a filter on say a drum track. ?
Please do a video on your analogue rack gear. Also if you want to have the lights stop flashing from your keyboard and the gear behind you, just mess with your shutter speed . But don’t let the shutter speed go less than twice whatever frame rate you’re shooting in.

Hi! Please please. I need your reply on this 😣 I bought the 3rd gen bundle but I was not satisfied with the headphones, that's why I bought a DT770 pro headphones 80ohm just 3days ago. But I'm having a problem, though. My dt770 pro 80ohm has a great sound balance but it has lower sound volume comparing to the focusrite 3rd gen. Focusrite is way more louder maybe by 40%. Does that mean, the focusrite 3rd gen interface might not have have enough juice to power the dt770 pro? Meaning I have to buy an amp? Or do you have a solution to this? If I need to buy amp, do you have any reco? Thank you so much!
Thank you. The presonus website doesn't give much details on the knobs..... They're rotary encoders with ability to control vol, pan, send A, B. Doesnt mention if they're endless. I'm not sure if they have multicolour LED (with variable brightness to indicate knob value like the Novation Circuit) Thanks again for the comparison. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Yeah, I was considering that, but the video was getting super long! haha! Here's my take on software - Presonus ALWAYS includes one of the best software bundles out there. Look up the Magic Bundle. Novation has an advantage with their Novation/Focusrite Collective. Every month or two they giveaway something free. I really like that - it stays fresh.
ok, i know this is a 3 year old video, but i have a question. I am 100% beginner when it comes to music creation. a while ago i bought " Level Up! Music Creators Power Pack " from humble bundle, it came with MixCraft 9 software. i like, now here comes the noob question. if i bought a "midi drum pad" can i program any plug in to it, like if its a guitar rift for example. could i set that up into one of these controllers? or is there a different piece of equipment i am looking for to do this. im basically looking to do the "drums" then "guitar" then "bass" then the lyrics over all that. its been really annoying trying to just do it all via keyboard and mouse and figured this would be a faster process if i had a controller. thanks man. love the videos i've watched so far

I have a launchpad mk2, and I like it, but I'm thinking of getting the ATOM. It's like a mini launchpad with nicer pads on it (at least compared to the mk2 pads, maybe not the X/pro mk3.) I was thinking of getting an akai mpd218, but that doesn't really have the ableton integration, and I've heard mixed stuff about the pads. I know the price of the atom is the same as launchpad X, but I don't really want to go from a mk2 to X, I'd rather get the pro mk3 if I was getting another launchpad.
@@acheofficial6876 I'd recommend launchpad X or mini MK3. The MK2 is good, but the pads don't feel amazing, and to get the most use out of it, you need a third party script for ableton, which I've had crash a few times. Keep in mind, the MK2 and mini MK3 don't have velocity sensitivity, whereas the X does.

I've tried the Korg NanoKontrol 2. Its not really made specifically for Ableton like the ones in this video. But its decent for most DAWs

ok, i know this is a 3 year old video, but i have a question. I am 100% beginner when it comes to music creation. a while ago i bought " Level Up! Music Creators Power Pack " from humble bundle, it came with MixCraft 9 software. i like, now here comes the noob question. if i bought a "midi drum pad" can i program any plug in to it, like if its a guitar rift for example. could i set that up into one of these controllers? or is there a different piece of equipment i am looking for to do this. im basically looking to do the "drums" then "guitar" then "bass" then the lyrics over all that. its been really annoying trying to just do it all via keyboard and mouse and figured this would be a faster process if i had a controller. thanks man. love the videos i've watched so far

Akai Apc 40 is a beast . I think you should check out that . I think it beats push and artist called fkj uses it very creatively

Hi, a quick question about the akai apc mini, does it work in Mac OS Catalina?
I have a launchpad mk2, and I like it, but I'm thinking of getting the ATOM. It's like a mini launchpad with nicer pads on it (at least compared to the mk2 pads, maybe not the X/pro mk3.) I was thinking of getting an akai mpd218, but that doesn't really have the ableton integration, and I've heard mixed stuff about the pads. I know the price of the atom is the same as launchpad X, but I don't really want to go from a mk2 to X, I'd rather get the pro mk3 if I was getting another launchpad.
how are you feeling with mk2? im kinda in a pickle picking either mk2 or a mini mk3. I'm kinda beginner in producing music. But i would love to learn
@@acheofficial6876 I'd recommend launchpad X or mini MK3. The MK2 is good, but the pads don't feel amazing, and to get the most use out of it, you need a third party script for ableton, which I've had crash a few times. Keep in mind, the MK2 and mini MK3 don't have velocity sensitivity, whereas the X does.

You can use them in other DAWs. The lauchpads work with Logic as well.

Push doesn't come with sounds, but Ableton Live (the software) does.
