Congratulations to Bruce Johnson on your upcoming retirement at the end of the year. Bruce has been with the station almost 45 years. He's the only left from the WTOP-TV era. Channel 9 will not be the same without you.
Thank you, Robert lee, for updating WUSA! This was the only station out of the T.L. Hughes compilations from my home market of Washington, DC that wasn't updated. And by the way, The ID Junkie updated all of the other stations, although WTTG has since been pulled from YT as that station got the new Fox O&O graphics a couple of weeks before Super Bowl LIV.
Long history: WTOP-TV, with CBS and Washington Post ownership, then Post/Newsweek. The 70's cross-ownership rule forced the Post and Detroit Daily News to swap stations, so WTOP-TV became WDVM. When Gannett bought the Daily News, they changed it to the current WUSA-TV. Gannett split off the TV division, which becomes Tegna, which is now owned by a New York hedge fund. BTW, Tegna uses the same graphics and music package on all 61 of their TV stations.
That Gordon Peterson appeared on DCs channel nine for a long time like NYCs channel four Chuck Scarborough . These white haired news gentlemen had long careers . i cannot recall a young woman who stayed at a particular station long enough to became a white haired grandma type lady .
Nice to see Julian Barber and Hal Walker, Washington's first black news anchorman. Ditto for Tony Sylvester. Bruce Johnson retired as Nine's last surviving newsman from the WTOP-TV era last year. Voiceovers introducing Channel 9's news include Bob Dalton, John Douglas, Bill Neal, Renee Chaney and Mike Lewis. Douglas was a longtime weatherman at Nine from 1956-70.
We had that 9 logo first. It is a close resemblance of the mid 70's "9" logo( "The One and Only" era). When it was WTOP and WDVM before it became WUSA.
Hey, you aggressive people! Let's see if you can give death threats to Sinclair, Tegna, Scripps, Nexstar, Gray, and all other broadcasting companies and harrass the viewers who watch stations owned and/or by a particular company!

Also, this video is dedicated to former WUSA meteorologist Gordon Barnes, who passed away very recently.
R.I.P Bruce Johnson
CBS needs to mandate This station to use “The Enforcer” now,
They have to own them to do that, It's still a Tegna station
Not happening; Tegna uses the same music and graphics packages on all 61 of their owned stations.
Not sure if it’s me or not but the theme that starts at 15:53 has some kind of U-S-A USA jingle at the end of the theme.
Wow I forgot about the Gannett opening!
Love that CBS Enforcer package
The current WUSA logo is similar to KUSA's logo, right down to the 9's design!
Would you sign a petition in change.org if anyone ask Tegna to remake the 1987 open?

It might be a Tegna station. They all share the same logos and sounds across the country.
