Amazing seeing Nataly comfort and stroke her baby as if she really knows how special and needed that baby is! Congrats to Haggy!!! So glad for the new baby! Seems that Nataly knows how to be a mom a good protective mom!

I've seen mothers give their babies a little swat here and there, but Nataly's loving pats are next level. What a sweet momma!
On the other hand, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of Haggy's grooming sessions. All that hair pulling looked painful! I thought Gypsy was the only hair plucker in Bossy's troop.
Thank you AM for this truly awesome video. It pulled my heart strings to see Natally patting her babies head. I have never seen that before. These creatures are fascinating, they are beautiful and smart. God’s creation is perfect. The music is just perfect too.

Sweet Nataly.. I watched a video earlier when Nataly was a newborn. Hee face looks like she had pushed hard. Poor gal. Lovely pats. I have seen it before.. the time teeny was being consoled by a male when she couldn't find the troop
Wonderful to see natally with new baby and happy to see ridgy starting to look more like her old self. Was really worried she had given up on life but her living family has helped her recover.

I've never seen a mother monkey pat and rub on their babies heads. Never. Especially macaques. LOL this mama is enthusiastically patting the head. Hahaha the poor baby's head is just tossled all over and it just wants to drink milk. Hahahaha

Often mothers even in the wild especially new mothers copy what their mothers do. And in other cases being a mother just comes natural to them.
I find it unbelievable that people spin a story and give them names. When they all pretty much look the same. But at least you aren't dressing them up in baby clothes. Ha
Arroz has been following and filming these monkeys for nearly 10 years. He knows all of these monkeys. So if he chooses to name them it is his prerogative. All of us viewers who have been following along know quite a few by name as well. Apparently you have just happened upon 1 video and thought he is a part of the Cambodian scumbags.

What happens if a baby gets too confident and gets in trouble (stuck) up high? Sometimes they appear to be struggling but manage to get a grip. That’s when I think, what if…
They sound the alarm and their mum get to them in a second but tragedies sometimes happens.

@@ML_SE thanks. At first the moms are very attentive but it seems as the babies get more adept the moms are less focused. It makes sense that they are alert to cries for help. Will others also rescue if needed?
@Pam Preston from what I have seen on here, and other sites when babies scream everyone looks to see what the problem is. I would say some monkey would go to the rescue.

I've never thought about it but I can guess. I don't think so. If a baby being saved it's a relative giving a helping hand maybe a higher ranking could do it too. Their strict rule to follow is don't mess with another mums baby. They can adopt another baby if a mother died or abandon the baby at birth but also ranking plays a role here too.

Isn't haggy's family the family that destroyed that one poor monkey, Ridgy?
The whole troop probably fought with Ridgy. Definatly Bossy's family and the other high ranking families such as Lancy's, Lizzy's and Dorothy's. Also, other members of the troop AM have not named. Haggy's family probably tussled with Ridgy for ranking. Before Grandee was alpha, Ridgy's family was mid to low ranking. Once Grandee was outed, Ridgy had no protector, thus she was forced back to her original ranking...more or less. Maybe lower right now but may change in time. The other mid ranking macaques probably fought with Ridgy to assure their ranking. Aggy's, Stacy's and Tracy's families also dropped in ranking. Reddy's family raised in ranking as has Haggy's and Dolly's.
So, long story short. Yes, Haggy's family probably contributed to the injuries Ridgy sustained. Ridgy was extremely favored by Grandee, even more than the matriarch Bossy and her clan. She exploited this favoritism and unfortunately paid the price.
I really like Ridgy and her offspring and am very relieved that all have survived this transition. My favorite little nut is Grady. He is absolutely adorable and makes me laugh every time he is filmed. The dominant little rascal is another alpha in the making.
Haggy and her girls have all been sterilized except sweet little Nataly. Typically, her offspring are the defenders of babies, wonderful babysitters, and not extremely aggressive. At least per AM's filming. Ridgy is not destroyed, and her clan is growing. Fifi will probably have a baby this year and so might Ridgy. :)
Peanuts are good, since the high borns got all the good fruit and veggies 😢
What on earth happened to Ridgy's ears? Were they ripped off in a conflict?
She's whaping it on the back of the head and the newborn is saying pls show me back to that milk spout and pls stay down so it doesn't keep slipping out.
Followed with, and would you pls stop hitting me on the back of the head? That's not making this any easier either. 😠
The head whaping I've seen has been in stressful situations and usually when the infant starts falling off/looking around usually because of difficulty feeding. The male kidnappers do it a lot to get them to stay close to the breast.
