hey man idk if you know these tips or not but i do a lot of motocross and i have been to 2 riding schools and both said lean forward head of the bars elbows up when you are accelerating and as ur coming up to the corner lean back whilst standing i know u said it in the video but yeah definetly helps when you go around flat corners sit on the opposite side of your seat with 1 arm straighter and one bent depends in what way youre going and leg out obviously
Excellent video m8. Im thinking of doing the BMW advanced off road, but a bit worried as my bike is a 1200GSA 2015 and I really don't ant to smash it to bits. I do a lot of off road but really love to drift and stuff. When is the 2nd video coming out?
Awesome video! Makes me want to go out and get some adventure bike training! Do you have to be a BMW owner to go along or is it something anyone can sign up to?
+Hagz sucks being stuck on lams :(, Ive still got a few months left until I can upgrade my license. Id love a 1200GSA down the road once I have the skills to ride it.
+Tom Hauser if you dont wanna spend much money, try starting out on a DRZ400E. Great bike, bulletproof engine, torque for days. yes, its a bit heavier than the sporty crf/wr crowd, but still an awesome bike to learn on.
Well I can tiptoe the Super Tenere. i'm 168cm tall. The ST's seat height is ± 87cm. Guess it takes some bike dropping to get use to it. My dirtbike as ±97.5cm but with the sag ajusted I can tiptoe it too. I think it's doable, just needs some adapting haha
+TheGraneable My legs are too short for the ST (both feed, lowest seatsetting). I can tiptoe with both feeds on the Suzuki DR650 of a friend (only bc I'm not that skinny ;) ). Didn't want to take chances of dropping the new ST at the dealer, he held it up from the back. The dealer is about the same size as me but has longer legs. Only options for the ST: lower aftermarket seat or lowering the suspension (shit for trails I think)
+Motorrad166 Don't know how it is in Australia but over here in Germany you just have to sign up, pay the bill and you're in. I can't really imagine that it is different in Australia, since BMW makes some good money with those courses.
Just love how Tom does the intro's off his bike just so it's a bit different and gives you a view of the vehicle he's about to rag!
+DanTheTwoWheeler Thats why there are "Stunt" Crash bars.
That 1200 is a beast for sure man :D
JOOOOEEE!!!
+Mr Tom Gould hey hey :D
+JoeGo101 Do you mean the bike Tom rode ?
+Gandalf m8 he talks about the 1200 in the beginning and how he is glad he is on the 800 :) that's what I meant :)
Tom, so cool we got snow and cold up the wahzo here, keep on brother.
That looks like so much fun and those bikes are so surprising with what they can do for their size.
Good different content to all the other heavy weight motovloggers, keep it up Tom. Enjoyed that!
Great video! Reminds me of the first day of the MSF course, except much more fun.
Nice work, Tom. I learned a few things.
"That was some good braking there Tom." That instructor was hauling the mail at 12:35 Holy Crap!!
That looks like alot of fun and learning at the same time
Great vid! Looks great fun. Gonna have a look at signing myself up for a course
really enjoyed that video. looks like you had a blast!
Very cool, looks like a real good laugh and some useful skills learned too!
Awesome video! Makes me want to get an adventure bike.
That looked like awesome fun, i would love to fo something like that to gain some extra skills...
That did look good. Thanks for the vid
hey man idk if you know these tips or not but i do a lot of motocross and i have been to 2 riding schools and both said lean forward head of the bars elbows up when you are accelerating and as ur coming up to the corner lean back whilst standing i know u said it in the video but yeah definetly helps when you go around flat corners sit on the opposite side of your seat with 1 arm straighter and one bent depends in what way youre going and leg out obviously
GS1200 is a looker and a beast
I really want to do some training courses hey. I think it would really improve your riding no matter how good/new you are.
That looks like too much fun, wonder if they have something like that in the States...
Top ride mate and learnt some thing from it ..
Looking forward for the next 1
Mat uk
Brilliant video!
Man that place looks like freaking paradise!
just a question fo you love in australia or not
angus robinson Eehm, no I do not live in Australia.
+TheTomster94 there you go it pretty much looks like the 30 mins out of melbourne
angus robinson Must be fantastic with offroad tracks combined with a race track where you can do trackdays!
@16:47 I was waiting for it m8 well done!
This looks like a lot of fun. Makes me wish I lived in Australia.
no you dont if you are pinned doing a whellie or 20 kmh over speed limit say good bye for 1-3months and a massive fine and possible loss of liscence
+angus robinson Are you sure? Tom speeds and wheelies all the time lol.
Looks fun as hell to do.
Excellent video m8. Im thinking of doing the BMW advanced off road, but a bit worried as my bike is a 1200GSA 2015 and I really don't ant to smash it to bits. I do a lot of off road but really love to drift and stuff. When is the 2nd video coming out?
Chris and Shane are good fellas
So what was the advantage to locking the front wheel?
Teaches you the feeling of sliding the front and the limit of the front brake
RidingWithTom Ahhh... with you now :) Awesome vids btw
TheTWRider f
Look at Tom being all professional and legal...
That locked up front wheel sliding looks terrifying
That looks super fun :D. Might give it go myself :D, but gonna start of with how to ride a GS the noob course :P
That looks like so much fun
How much of a good idea is doing these sorts of stuff on a sport bike? But with the right tires? What makes it a bad idea? I really want to try it.
Now, do the one in Wales (UK) with rain and bogs.....
should get +BaronVonGrumble to try this
He prefers to use the gixxer ;)
+Mark Beemsterboer Not enough mud to use the Gizz would be a waste of time.
Awesome video! Makes me want to go out and get some adventure bike training!
Do you have to be a BMW owner to go along or is it something anyone can sign up to?
Looks awesome
Nice vid Tom.
wow I want ago! Looks like a real good experience
The GoPro kinda warps perspective a little. I bet a lot of that terrain was trickier than it looks to us.
11:50 the hole on the left side :o
Great Video! Very jealous!
what did the instructors say about your wheelie on their new bike?
You are sitting on my dream bike!
that looked like a lot of fun :D want!
These should be one of the types of motorcycles cops use in the US XD
Great vid, Tom
That camera you have has very high graphic, is it gopro or some else?
Hey tom, how many batteries and sd cards do you use? Also what happened to doing 4K videos, just curious
i just in love with bmw bikes...
Tell the truth.... Did you got down at 12:00? Lol. Thanks for posting this. Very nice.
Jesus that looks so damn fun. How does one get into these course things?
+Hagz I think BMW run them off their website under "experiences" tab and under training.
+Hagz sucks being stuck on lams :(, Ive still got a few months left until I can upgrade my license.
Id love a 1200GSA down the road once I have the skills to ride it.
+roastlambpie That what these courses are for, so you can ride them.. and do what they were made for.
17:20 for the crash
hey tom which gopro model do you have
dang man it looked like you were going fast in 3rd!
Finally what took you so long to upload
did you buy a gs or do they just lend you one for the course?
hello from the netherlands ;) i really like this shit. but first, we have to grow some fucking mountains here;)
Great Vid
Nice upload!
Looks fun :)
YOUR AT MY HOME TRACK!!! :)
Out of interest, what was the purpose of learning how to ride with the front wheel locked up?
Control. So you don't freak
so cool!
this is 800 or 1200 cc
Hey Tom what is a good starter dirt bike in the 450cc range.
I would say wr450f because they are very popular and pretty reliable
Since you're just starting out, I don't think you will be happy with anything less than a 500 2-stroke :/
+Tom Hauser if you dont wanna spend much money, try starting out on a DRZ400E. Great bike, bulletproof engine, torque for days. yes, its a bit heavier than the sporty crf/wr crowd, but still an awesome bike to learn on.
+ SuperOrcy forgot about the drz's haha they have to be the best supermoto starter bike
wr450 or cbr 500
He said 3rd cuz you'll be faster in a higher gear. less wheelspin, more traction
I'm to small to foot down a Yamaha Super Tenere. Are those lower or higher ?
+TheGraneable looking for a big enduro aswell, same problem with the Super Tenere. I'm 1,75m tall.
Yeah I think that lowering the suspension of a off roading bike, makes it loose it's purpose. They do have the lowseat option
+TheGraneable if it's the large adventure bike you're looking for, the F800GS has a standard seat height of 880mm and there's a low seat option
offroad training course with goat and bird? looks awesome. #lol :)))
Nice
Hi tom I'm a subscriber and I'm from tas
I can tell you're a dirt bike rider. Probably good at it too, but got to roll the throttle on these big bikes - can't just punch it like a dirt bike.
R1200GS is worthless off-road without knobbies! Nice Video Thou!
crazy birds attacks..welcome to Australia I guess xD
6:33 lamb? you mean baa-baa?
I feel like I need a GS in my life...
what is your high speed during the stop-in-the-box exercise? th-cam.com/video/4ZDlOi2n0pg/w-d-xo.htmlm13s
Is this heaven? : )
you need over 1000cc offroad :D
No you don't. a 250-400cc bike is quicker offroad than a 1000cc
+HJZ75driver I bet for the average rider a 250 is faster than a 400-450 off-road
I wish I was invited to stuff like this...
You have to pay. Tom has to pay. Everyone has to pay lol
+HJZ75driver but you still have to be invited to go along to the training days/camp
+Motorrad166 Don't know how it is in Australia but over here in Germany you just have to sign up, pay the bill and you're in. I can't really imagine that it is different in Australia, since BMW makes some good money with those courses.
