Thank you for your work! A little over a year ago, I began to feel convicted to wear a headcovering whenever I leave the house, not just at church or while praying. This is how women dressed, really until the 50s/60s, women were still wearing hats and scarves a lot of the time. And I love how it makes me feel, reminds me that I am a Christian woman. I feel stronger, more confident, safer and dare I say more beautiful with my head covered. So thankful for the traditions the Church has handed to us!
I read the scripture to the letter. What happened? A lot of negativity. I got called a legalist and accused of me of being an anti-christian religion. Some thought I had cancer. I got asked, "What religion are you?' I explained and it just got me more criticism. My family hated it. People would ask me, "Why are you making yourself look ugly and hiding yourself? If I tried to make the scarf look better, I got judged by people who don't wear head covers that it wasn't modest looking. I went into many churches and came out crying. The interrogations were endless. No matter how I did a basic scarf someone judged me as anti-christian. I got something from Peru that was very plain, tan, and looked like no religion. I went into a Greek Orthodox Church and they did a ritual I was unfamiliar with at the time. All people went up front and I was left by myself in the pew with the entire congregation staring at me like I was anti-christian. My mom begged me to stop wearing scarves covers, because she saw all the snearing at me. I got asked, "What country I was from often?" I wasn't going to parade myself on a channel of the look. I dressed modest as well and I got interrogated by strangers about that as well. I tried to do all sorts of biblical things and it led to divorce. It's been an awful one taking everything I owned practically. I beg God to deliver me from this nightmare. I went to wearing hats and I couldn't wear it in court. Sometimes, I still wear the hats and the questions from strangers continue. Is that a costume? Do you normally dress like that? Why do you hide your hair? Do you have a skin condition? The only group that liked my scarves and hats were Jewish. They recognized I was doing something biblical, but didn't understand why. Many thought I was a confused Catholic. They were the most non-judgemental along with Buddhist. I was just trying to do what the scripture said. What I learned is people are more judgemental on females. And, the roots of Christian doctrine is not well known. I did have one ask if I was a nun. Of course, I did have to do something different as a divorced woman. Still, I get asked things like-"What era are you acting out? Do you work in a museum? Why do you dress like that? etc. No matter what I do, the judgements are extreme and strangers feel the need to interrogate. Did I feel holy wearing a head covering? No. It helped reduce sound. I didn't have a bad hair day. I didn't have to worry about the weather or exposure to people with lice. BTW: I am not a Roman Catholic. I am a person of simple faith. That's all.
I’m sure you’re not alone. The world is upside down in many ways, and I’m not looking down on anyone. God bless you and your struggle to live faithfully to Christ.
All comments will be discussion as do people believe woman is glory and man fights for this and wants this? I pray and pray for me I start believing that woman is glory. The Devil tells me that it is my fault that I am no glory, I obstruct the dear man, but men make me believe you WANT women to be your GLORY.
There is only leadership by example. Do men keep their hair short, as St Paul and St Augustine instruct? Daniel Sysoev is one man in the Church, but we take all of Tradition as our guidance. I'll say, it seems like hypocrisy for men to demand subjection from women, while offering an example of... what? Where are the haircuts? -- "Scripture for thee, but not for me."
@@PomazeBog1389 No, I'm an academic. Have you decided that all the employees at Ancient Faith, the bare-headed Greek Yia-yias that fought the Turks, and St Mary of Egypt are going straight to hell with the rest of us women who pray all day long even when we don't wear head coverings?
@@PomazeBog1389 Reposting because my first response to you was deleted. I warn you against such unwise judgements. Take a moment and watch Archimandrite Philip's latest video, "Straight to Hell!" How can you presume to judge the staff at Ancient Faith Ministries, the bare-headed Greek Yia-yias the fought the Turks, and female saints such as Saint Mary of Egypt? Their example speaks as loudly as Fr Daniel's words. You have no authority as you show no good example, and you have no argument. I am an academic and a woman. You will know that not all women marry, and women are able to pray all the time, regardless of their clothing.

@@ellemnop123None of what you have said is contary to Fr. Daniels words. Fr. Daniel is speaking of women who are married, not of Nuns. Those are the two paths. For women are are married, they are subject to their husband just as workers are subject to their supervisors, as Fr. Daniel said. What is your issue with what he has said and what Church Tradition do you believe goes against this? You seem to only be led by the modern delusions of feminism, which contradict The Gospel.

at 10:53 it sounds like you want christian women to wear a hijab. your references are from the pre-modern era and use emotions and comparisons to make your point. I agree with hair coverings but not for your reasons. submission is earned; not forcefully taken by a man.
Since when does scripture and the Church's tradition have an expiration date? It wasn't until the last century when Christian women, including heterodox, stopped wearing veils in Church due to feminism and the sexual revolution. God commands married women to submit to their husbands, if this is not what women wish to do then they should remain single. By your logic, as a man I'm going behave effeminately and have zero masculine skills or ability to protect and provide, because my masculinity is earned and not entitled to women... See how crazy I sound?
Father Daniel is a Modern-Day Martyr. And St. Theophan is squarely placed in Modern times as well. St. John Chrysostom is also timeless as we still use his Liturgical Formulations more than a Millennium later.

I'm intrigued by the fact that this topic seems to have become a trend as of late
Thanks for this Tim, the errors of the boomer generation and its sexual "liberation" must be undone. Lord willing it will be in time.

Timothy, please make sure that my comment is not deleted again. Men are supposed to protect women, not judge and silence them.
1 Timothy 2:11
Suffer not a woman to teach, nor usurp authority over a man, but to be in silence

No one said that, but according to your rhetoric, let's follow the modern times and see whether they lead us to salvation or not.
Something being modern or not is not an argument.
@@jamesgilreath7627 it is. We are orthodox, not modernists.
