I can't hear Emmy without thinking of the Dread robots anymore.
The rat boss also says "Stomping time!" When he squashes you. I thought it was just the robot that did that.

@@zaphhydro Actually, he considers his grandmother a badass in his Xenoblade 2 LP. Has gone to the gym for 25 years straight; has never missed a single day.
I love the music in Big Blag's Stage. Definitely my favorite song off this game's soundtrack.
I remember going to a nickel arcade back in the 90's. It's the only reason I was able to beat this game, X-Men, Spider-Man, and Alien vs Predator without spending over $100 on them. Great times.

So did anyone at Rare come out and say if the Battletoads were at least partially inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Because even back then I think people were making those comparisons.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed for decades now that Battletoads started off as a TMNT game but they couldn't get the rights to the characters so they turned it into it's own IP.
Yeah, that makes sense. It's like how Donkey Kong started off as a Popeye game.
I notice that Jon asked if Chugga played any other beat-em-ups after he said he wanted to bring "Billy" with him. And yet he didn't bring up Battletoads & Double Dragon until much later.

Eh, I'd honestly agree with what Emile said at the end, both what he actually said and what Jon thought he said. Getting rid of all the gas at once without risking a big fart, or being able to fly around like a balloon, would be helpful and/or fun. :P

On the subject of this game's sound font, to me it's very Shadowrun. Because this game uses the same 16-bit synth guitars and 16-bit metal drums. Also sounds a bit like MegaMan X or Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Yeah... Tim did *not* do well on the first level for this video. But, he did do really well on the second level... at first. Then he started performing to a degree to where he would've spent the same as Emile if I were just looking at the second level.

In another timeline you’re playing the under appreciated one hit wonder the ninja turtles, while battletoads is everywhere.
Not sure if anyone below has mentioned this yet but... there's a reference to a scrapped boss in this level, basically its one of the portraits on the wall. A santa boss that was initially supposed to be the boss of the second level but was cut out of the final game and instead the snake boss took the slot (said snake was supposed to be the boss of the descending level). Just a fun fact to share. Have a nice day to whoever reads this

Oh, the Collector’s Editions. I wouldn’t know about those ones, I settled for just the physical game. Also again, speaking of Scott Pilgrim, at least you can see these boulders coming at you regardless of your position.

Also this soundtrack, is this still David Wise? This level’s track in particular feels reminiscent of some of his more recent stuff like with Tropical Freeze at some parts.
I think Scott Pilgrim had the three areas with boulders rolling down the corridor, so I would not be surprised if this also has three.

There might be proof I am wrong but there is a possibility this was filmed before OJ and this was filmed last Christmas (2020) not 2021, would explain the Scott pilgrim discrepancy.
Would also explain how they still don't know if covid has affected the channel by this recording, where if this was post OJ they would definitely know by now.

You know, the BattleToads never had any answer to Leonardo, did they? I mean, Zitz = Donatello, Rash = Michelangelo, and Pimple = Raphael, but no Leonardo answer.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing them do the new Battletoads, but also just to sort of indulge Jon, I wouldn't mind if they did Turtles in Time. Although if they wanted to do 3 player they would have to do the Arcade version rather than the SNES version, but still.

The problem with KI2 was that it's unnecessary complex and feels so weird to control, compared to the first one, great game tho, it looked way ahead of its time.
Also, it'd be nice to try Scott Pilgrim or River City Girls, both imo are the best recent beat'em up's we've had, and both have fantastic soundtracks, no lie, imo, River City Girls is easily top 5 of the best soundtracks in the last decade

actually funny story with how emile was saying battletoads had better animation than most of the stuff on tv when the original came out first i don't agree second not the point third they actually made a spin off half hour show intended as a pilot for a tv series and is supposed to be a prequel to the first game
