I remember when SGU was on, and I thought the show, and music was fantastic, but the show got so much hate, and non viewership, that it went off before it could complete it's mission. Sadly this music, the Destiny, and her crew are gone forever. Thank you Mr. Goldsmith for this classic.

How many people would gladly buy a SG Universe soundtrack? I know I would. I cant believe it is lost sitting on a shelf somewhere. Joel Goldsmith was one of the greats.

I'd say a lot of people would listen it on Spotify etc. There is a lot of great unreleased OSTs unfortunately :/

That's because the episode that this piece was in was named "Light". There are several great pieces of Joel Goldsmith's music that occur during this episode. If I were to name any piece of music in this episode "Light", I would select the one I called "Waiting for the End", which happens when Destiny dives into the star.

Do you think the official soundtrack will ever be released? Thanks for these tracks anyway :)

A couple years ago, a soundtrack was released of SG-1 music written by Richard Band, who composed music in the first two seasons, so never say never. Personally, I have doubts that it is likely. Presumably, the rights are owned by MGM and they would need a reason to release it. Would it still be profitable today? These days, it's just a matter of loading MP3's to Google Play and iTunes, which can be done for little cost, but then you have to pay people to determine what to put together for release, and you have to hope that the original music source files weren't discarded or deleted at some point. If MGM plans to continue the franchise in some form, they may release a soundtrack as a gesture of goodwill toward the fanbase.
I personally feel that this score is very important, because to me, it is the most successful integration of modern and electronic instruments into an orchestral score. In most combinations of modern and orchestral instruments, the modern instrumentation tends to overwhelm the entire thing and the orchestral parts merely seem to accompany the rest, not to mention that there is therefore usually no functional tonality in the arrangements. In this, Joel takes the opposite approach, using each instrument individually to combine to provide a characteristic sound as it is needed, and it all contributes to the whole.
