      OH NO! your making me jealous again. You have your own lotus plan? how nice, that makes perfect wrappers. I only used dried one and they cracked easily, even handling it delicately. Thanks for watching.

    Hey what type of pork did you use? The ground pork that I see at the grocery is a lot lighter pink in color. Will that be fine as well? Most of the recipe's on TH-cam and online use chicken as the filling. I'm used to a pork filling from a dimsum chef that used to work in Cincinnati. So good. I just bought 3 rings rice, is that an okay brand? Looking to make this in the next couple of days (:

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ground pork that are lighter pink in color? look like they have high fatty proportion. Check with the butcher. Most of my filling are with ground pork, which is tastier than ground chicken, in my opinion. 3 ring rice? I haven't try that yet. I would suggest use short grain rice or sweet rice for this recipe. Thanks for asking and also Thanks for watching.

    Do you think I can use the fresh lotus leaves from my garden for this or is dried one better?

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is even better, since they are still payable. boiled several hours ( simmers ) until color changes to dark. Thanks for asking and also Thanks for watching.

    I don't have any lotus leaves but I like the taste of the filling. Would I be able to make the rice and pork filling and just eat it like that without wrapping it in the lotus leaf or is it not the same???

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      almost the same. BTW , in the past I made video on that , without lotus leaves. Using rice cooker. check it out. Type " happy wok sticky rice" at the SEARCH window above. Thanks for asking.

    that is one of my very most favorites! i love the aroma of the lotus leaves. i must admit, though, that the first time i ate it in a dim sum restaurant, i tried to bite into the lotus leaf instead of unwrapping it. that was before i read about the types of dim sum. still makes me chuckle at myself. the surrounding tables full of people must have thought "oh, my goodness. don't these people know?" haha. joke's on me! thanks for the recipe, but i'm still going to order it in the restaurant. there are certain things that i know i can't do as well.

    What are you using chicken broth for? And when and where you are adding it?

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using chicken or beef broth, bring better tasting food or soup. Adding it? depend what are you cooking for. For stir fry, I usually use it for sauce. For soup, I usually use it as base soup. Thanks for asking. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you! I've been looking for this recipe! Can you tell me which section did you find the lotus leaves. All I found at my Asian markets in Chinatown were banana leaves

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They could be display any where in those groceries. I always have a hard time looking for them. So, I now always ask the store personnel for direction. Thanks for asking. ( btw -- some asian groceries don't carry them )

    Hi chef. I'm just wondering, would banana leaves be a good substitute for lotus leaves? I cant seem to find lotus leaves at my asian market.

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But banana leaves are tough to bend and wrapped the filling. what place are you in? Lotus leaves are usually found in asian groceries.

    • @joshuaha8730

      City of Atlanta should have their own china town or asian community district. Where lot of asian groceries are. Yes, try again those places.

    Great!. My father used to make a similar dish but instead of pork it was duck, and the shape was like pyramids.

    • @HAPPYWOK
      @HAPPYWOK  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diced duck meat that is stir fry with seasoning also tasty. I think that pyramid looking wrapped must be using wide and long bamboo leaves. Thanks for watching.
