Favourite song ever - piece of opera made of rock&roll
The best band
The best song
I agree fully
6:24 This video graphic perfectly sets off one of my favourite U2 songs.
U2 is the Best of the World ❤
I would love to go there and see them, but not willing to spend $2,500 for two tickets!
If you're into records, there are a few full shows from The Sphere out there on lp now.
Go Edge!
Thank you for sharing the video, I love the song but didn't record it when I was at the sphere, I wanted to really enjoy it. One comment to anyone attending concerts and it either seems to be more of a common occurrence or Im just getting too old to ignore it. In your video you can hear people chatting during the performance, the videos I have recorded of the concerts I attended in the past few years have always people talking non stop during the shows it's so annoying. We know not to do it during a movie, so why is it okay to do it during a concert for which you payed so much money?
Thanks again, what a cool experience.
Love to be able to go The Sphere for a concert experience like this. There's so much that could be done for art performance in a space like that.
My criticism (if I may, Jeff) of my favorite band for almost forty years now is that there seems to be a lack of flow in the few songs I've seen footage of from these Sphere concerts. Everything flowed together so well on Zoo TV. There seems to be a bit of a disjointedness or quite a bit of downtime in regard to the little footage I have peeked in on in here. Also the stage appears a bit too confining for Bono, like he has nowhere to go with his restless energy. And of course on the Zoo TV tour he had the different ramps, the Handycam, the belly dancer, costume changes, champagne and bombast, and room to roam and express himself. (The heart on the Elevation tour.)
I don't know. The footage I have seen thus far appears a little stifling to me, not as grand as I thought it would be. Not to mention that this hasn't been exciting and new material for over thirty years now although these are some of my favorite songs from them. And Bono of course is now 63 years old.
I'll always think highly of what they engage in though, what they have released over the decades and what they continue to be. I'll always have that. Thanks for posting.
Agreed completely
Totally. I was at a Zoo show back in the 90s and the energy was exhilarating. They were young and we were young so it was an entirely different experience. Alas, that period of incredible/awesome creativity is very short, for any band. This song was the last bit of their greatness, imo. I appreciate them for all they’ve given us but at this point, going to their show is purely for nostalgia. On a bright side, the musicianship of Edge, Larry and Adam lives on!
I agree with what you’re saying. They are the best band in the world as far as I’m concerned. I’ve seen them live twice. I am conflicted because this building took billions to create, and it doesn’t feel like the technology is being used to the fullest. Also, could be a combination of the show presentation and the stage. I really do not like the stage at all. I am sure these are all things that will be worked out in years to come as other artists use the facility. Unfortunately, the greatest man in the world will be judged based on this residency compared to other artists to come. In my opinion, they could have made it much more theatrical and using all this new technology.
@@LLC_Turf_Pros The Sphere experience from the footage I have seen doesn't come across to me as looking anywhere near as immersive an experience as I pictured in my mind. I've been thinking about other Sphere footage as of late in comparison to Elevation tour footage from Boston, from Slane Castle, Zoo TV from Sydney, Joshua Tree tour in Paris... They were much younger then of course but with the exception of Paris, the video dynamic, stage set-up and intimacy for me meshes better with their performances of the songs from the shows I just referenced. The footage from each of those shows and where they were in their career at the time comes across as electric, moving and captivating.
I would bear in mind that what we see on video certainly can't compare to the experience of being there. U2 have always tried to forage new paths in terms of what can be done with a concert; they have keen visual imaginations (harnessed by their secret weapon, show designer Willie Williams). They haven't always succeeded; for example, it took a while for them to get Popmart operating the way they wanted (and when I saw the DC stop on that tour, it was largely a bust for those of us near the back of the stadium because storms the previous evening had damaged the screen). I suspect that given enough dates, they'll improve substantially what they're already doing. Already the newer shows seem much better than the older ones.
I do agree with you, though, regarding Bono. He thrives upon moving out from the main stage and connecting with the crowd. It must be hard on him to have such a small space on which to play around, even though there is precedence for it (e.g., the e and I stages on the last two tours).
Thanks. One of my favorite songs from this album. Going next weekend, Oct 28. Where did you sit?
Section 108 Row 28
Thanks Jeff. We are also sitting in section 100, but I don't know which seat yet. Purchased through Vibe.
Travelling from 🇬🇧 for December 16th show. 105 row 33….worried now about this overhang I’m reading about. Looks ace. Not as good as the original ZOO TV?
this venue lacks of character , if this is the future ..it sucks.
I’ll take Red Rock over this any day!
@@captaingish what you fail to understand is this place can become Red Rocks. It can become anything. It is technology beyond all imagination. It can be whatever it wants to be. The only people that don’t know this are the ones who have not been there. I have been, and I know.
Also, Red Rocks is great, but there is no sound like the sound in this place that Red Rocks could even come within the universe of.
Just got back, U2 was great! The crowd was the lamest I’ve ever seen. They didn’t know the words to any songs and sat down the whole time.
Could be worse. There was a drunk guy in our section having the time of his life at everyone's expense that was singing out-of-tune at the top of his lungs. He couldn't find a note if his life depended on it!
@@jeffnashlvLOL
That happened to me when I saw them at the NRG Stadium in Houston Texas. For the Joshua tree anniversary tour. My wife went and is not a fan of them necessarily. She was excited when they all hit the stage and even stood up and was cheering. But then as she looked around, everyone was sitting down and just clapping. She has been to Aerosmith concerts and others like kiss, etc. and she said it wasn’t exciting because the crowd we were surrounded by was so lame.
Gawd, some people who can't shut up for 5 minutes shouldn't go to concerts, but are better suited to the pub.
Voice = GONE!!!!
