You may say that you're not an artist, but you've sure got the knack of creating wonderful pictures! A most instructive and entertaining video - thank you
Very good video, the background does add an illusion of depth to the layout. Blue paint, I think, is Screwfix No Nonsense line, but but sure Wicks must do something similar. 😂
I've only got a Screwfix locally, so I don't have your problem though sometimes I wish I did. When I was living in London I was surrounded by big DIY stores... Out here in the sticks choice is limited.. Then again I would not swap present location for the city. 😊
Hello David. I did enjoy your video. I too as you know paint my own backgrounds too, Yours are far better than mine. Thanks for the insight. Regards Alan :o)
Look great as paintings. The problem with most backdrops is absurd perspective that only makes sense from ground level. Otherwise, the layout is looked at from bird view while the backdrop makes no sense at all (like your smoke stacks) thus breaking the illusion.
I do tend to agree with you. This is somewhat alleviated by using a lighting pelmet that forces the viewer down towards track level. I. E. If you're stood at full height the lighting rig gets in the way forcing you to duck down or sit on a chair to get the best view.
Your intro is visually an improvement, easier on the eye. I admire your skills. Painting has never been one of mine unless it's a ceiling. Nice one, David
Finally managed to watch this back David, pretty incredible skills. I accidentally found out about creating distance with white, i accidentally painted on the greens etc whilst the white background emulsion hadnt dried 😂😂😂.. You said you're no artist but the evidence suggests otherwise. Fantastic work 👍👏 ill have to have a go with uour techniques. Definitely enjoying seeing your guides, really great to watch.
I've Tried to improve the occupational bridge scene with some tree lines as per your example. I'm pretty happy with it but need a bit of practice I think... I'm certainly no Bob Ross 🤣@@HorsehayRailwayModeller
Nice watching…. You make it look so simple, although I know it isn’t. So often you can see wonderful layouts with the same mass produced back scenes which catches the eye, instead of being a nondescript entity that’s just there. Brilliant job.
@@HorsehayRailwayModeller It's there cheap way of using your channel to sell their products. Thanks. You're right about the paint 😂 I've spent so much at both shops I forgot what I bought where.

Background looks fantastic, have you been watching Bob Ross?
He may have provided some inspiration 😂
Excellent time for me to try and get in the railway shed and do some more work on my backscenes. Shed having a renovation at moment.
Never a bad time for railway work.

Wow, you made it look so easy, it looks very professional.
