My no 1 problem with guitar is I get sidetracked and end up noodling about repetitively and exploratory both good but basis first I guess , my progress has been slow but it's also been fun and like discovery.

Lol exactly the same here for years . I don't know any chords or scales as such by name but after 6 years of doing what you described i've had some fun and the neck is starting to make sense but i still don't know what i'm doing theory wise . I also learned a really bad habit of only being able to strum down , not down up , down up and i recently realised that this will hold me back as the neck makes more sense enough to speed up but i can't only strumming down all the time .
