I love it. For anyone reading this comment, it may be of interest to you.. the newspaper owner Edward Lewis Senn (in story) was also the owner of the newspaper which Carrie Ingalls ran (Laura Ingalls Wilder's sister). She worked for him in Desmet South Dakota and later on in Keystone South Dakota as his newspaper editor. I thought maybe it would be of interest to someone. I love history and how all roads do connect somewhere.
A wonderfully challenging time in America. Where opportunity knocked at every door, but even as it is today, only the brave and courageous answered. Wonderful story about a wonderful people during a wonderful time God bless our ancestors and their stout hearts.
Insomnia? I suffer too.. it really sucks. Most times, Family does not really understand how hard a battle it is. Listening to these helps me relax and often times when I find a reader with such a soft voice as this, he even helps me fall asleep. And then I wake up looking forward to picking up on the chapter I left off on. It takes me a while to get through these audiobooks because of it but I love them just like that. I’m looking for more reading by this particular narrator. Hope you enjoy/enjoyed the read.
@@Little_BitzYes, the old insomnia. It IS difficult for friends and family to understand. I appreciate your reply. Like you, this reader helps me to fall asleep. I love this book and all that happens as they pioneer a new state and frontier. It’s one of my very favorite parts of U.S. history.

If you listen to the little house series narrated by Cherry Jones, you end up with Laura as an adult, wife and mother. Brilliant, I highly recommend it 😊

The town of Pierre South Dakota is pronounced Peer not pee- air. I know cuz i was born and raised in SD. I'm not being a jerk about this just want to correct the pronunciation.😊
Good story, fascinatingly written by one of two small statured sisters of the 2nd Western Pioneers ( land giveaways under Teddy)". The reader's voice is pleasant but his deep sucks of air by his mouth or nose right on top of the mic becomes annoying, and it would have been more impactful if read by a woman.
