Big thanks for clarifying GWP, greenwash and other distraction techniques. CLIMATE, POLLUTION, ANIMAL ABUSE, EXTINCTIONS, and HEALTH etc., are clearly connected to what we eat. While in modern societies consuming animals is totally unnecessary, animal farming is also MOST INEFFICIENT (see Richie 2024 p160). Business as usual is not an option if we’re serious about addressing the above issues, and our most effective choice is to switch from meat and dairy to plant-based products. Business and politics will follow demand, and what we simply choose to consume has the power to make this happen.
Thank you again Russell. Trees are heading to extinctions as well due to housing and agriculture . Eating meat and dairy is ethically 😊cruel. We have abused animals, fish, birds, wildlife too . Plant based diet. Eat plants, plant trees surely .
What is missing in the debate on methane is it does not disappear, it breaks down to CARBON DIOXIDE and water. So even when it decays it leaves a continuing foot print. It is a natural product of bacterial action and will always be present in the atmosphere but not in quantities we see now. The root problem is too many humans wanting a meat diet, or even just to survive. If we all went vegetarian the issue shifts to soil destruction by agro chemicals to grow enough soya beans etc to feed everyone. Bite the bullet. Get to the root of this! There are too many of us with the entitlement to breed and too many who will exploit their nutritional needs but damaging farm practice. BUT KEY TO THE DEBATE, METHANE BREAKS DOWN TO CO2
As climate change causes tundra in the Artic and Antartica, Himalayas the amount of methane release can cause a snowball effect. Don't underestimate that. Tundra melting will cause massive releases and snowball effect

Great discussion!

How can Luxon say we are meeting 2050 targets?
Methane is part of a natural cycle:, briefly, grass, animal, methane omission, absorption by grass
Did you watch the discussion?
What nonsense!

We have nutrionists advising not to stop eating meat. Bad for your health
