@@TheGraytOutdoors What's stopping you from doing that with any spin cast, though? I thought there was something different or unique about it when I watched you do it the first time but you're just pressing the same black button that you're pressing when you're using it as a spin cast, right?
@@luigiprovencher On the century, if you want to use it on a fly rod, you have to flip the antireverse switch to left handed, and if you already have line on it then you’ll have to flip the spool upside down. Other than that, you’re still using the black button but you have to hold the line on the rod like it’s a spinning reel.
Just got one of these from my father still in the box. Hes had it for a long time. Says it's never been used. The instructions are missing but it's a model no 100
😳Congratulations!! I paid a little bit of $$$$ for my two, which is something I usually never do but they were both in good and REALLY good condition and they were calling out to me. I’ve really enjoyed using them both. I’ve used them on everything from fly rods to vintage rods. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I’m not a “professional” in the vintage reel world but I’ll do my best to answer or at least direct you toward who can. “Mats Reel Repair” in Eagle Rock Wisconsin is a great place for any info on vintage reels, he may even have an original owners manual for it to put in your box. 🤔 You’ll enjoy it and congratulations once again!! @@TheGraytOutdoors yes I'm pretty lucky to have been given that. It's in pretty good condition from what I can tell all the parts work. Could use some grease but seems mint. Im only 23 but I love fishing, I'll have to get a nice vintage rod to try it out on 😊 I live in Vancouver Canada so not sure if I'll make it to Wisconsin but I'll keep my eye out. Thanks!! The reel is a blast.....for a day... it’s no Abumatic 170 but dang fun to use for a day... and as far as that bluegill, there’s bigger ones in there, I’ve seen them. They’re actually picky, which is weird for a bluegill. Sure was fun bringing him in on that old reel.... 😂🎣🐟 Thanks again as usual for watching and commenting!! It means a lot!!

Well, it’s a private neighborhood pond that I’ve been given the ok to fish as long as I never told where it was. Lol, normally I’m not “that guy” , I’ll tell people where I’m at but unfortunately this place, I can’t give the location. For doing reviews it’s great because there’s such a variety of fish in there and you’re almost guaranteed to catch “something” which is what people want to see when you’re reviewing a piece of equipment. They’ve had a lot of trouble through the years with people riding through trying to find a place to just jump out of their car and fish between their houses, driving the homeowners crazy leaving trash around the lake and knocking on doors asking to fish. It’s obviously an old lake, when the houses were built, they were put tight around it and there isn’t a single spot that’s actually open to anyone who doesn’t have a house on it. Needless to say, it was a great thing when I was permitted to fish it. Thanks for watching and commenting, sorry I couldn’t give you a better answer, hope you understand. Thanks again! Willie
Hey Brother!! Yes indeed, couldn’t have asked for better fish for a reel that’s NEVER been fished. It was a blast, especially when it did a triple flip into the lake. Lol Thanks for watching!! 👊🏼🎣
Great video!👍 The chance of finding one of those reels here in Sweden is very low, but if I see one I will buy it and give it a try. But until then, my Abu Garcia Abumatic 160 and 170 will come along on my fishing trips. Keep the videos coming! With best regards from northern Sweden. (Sorry if my English spelling is not the best).
Hello Eric!! They made a lot of those reels (Johnson century’s) but sadly, they don’t show up very often. I actually found two in the same week. I couldn’t fish everyday with one but they are definitely fun for a day. I love the Abu Garcia’s. I have Three Abumatic 170s and a 120. Those I could fish with everyday. I really just enjoy bringing them back to life and getting them back out there doing what they were meant to do, catch fish. I truly appreciate you watching and commenting!! It means a lot.....plenty more to come!! Your English is probably better than mine. 😂 Thanks again!! Willie
Hey there! Nope, you’re not the only on, they’re close for sure. You can definitely see where these reel companies looked at each other back then. I love the 170’s and the 120’s. I have several but having the Century completed a long going search and definitely fun to use. Thanks for watching and commenting, it means a lot!!
Yeah, it got worse and worse because of all that tree fluff, what ever it was kept going up the line into the reel, I had to take it apart twice and clean it out, it was like wet oatmeal inside. 😖..... Then it went for a swim!! It was an exciting couple of days. Thanks for watching my friend! I really appreciate it!!

Man that Crappier was one heck of an inaugural fish to christen that reel! You know a bluegill is a serious chunk when you can lip it!

What's that thing in the center on the left hand side? The non-crank side. Some of them don't have that.
It’s a clicker. You can turn it on and turn off the anti reverse and when the fish hits and takes line it’ll click..
