    Saturday morning coffee with a Klatremus Thief FM. My definition of how to properly start a week-end 😉.

    the Abbey of Karras is actually a 1:1 recreation of the famous Abbey of Mont Saint-Michele in Normandy. the Aquilon is the Crypt of the Aquilons, a family tomb inside the real-world abbey,.

      Yes I think others also pointed that out. Very impressive build nonetheless.

    Wow, 'back in town' and I found not one, but two klatremus (undoubtly: excellent) videos! I saved the TBP one for later tonight, as I kind of know what happens. This mission looks very good, I might even try later to play it... :p (next years or so, at current rate). Having visited Mont de St. Michel myself, it's easy to see from where the inspiration came (including the "structures built on top of older ones" part)
    2:16:30 - Aquilon is I think the French name of the Roman 'god of the northern wind' Aquilo (the Latin copy of the Greek Boreas - whose name made it into many modern designations related to 'north', most notably of course Aurora Borealis).
    PS: And to your other question: speaking for myself, yes, I like to see such inventive solutions I am too lazy to execute. Sometimes I figure them out and I 'pragmatically" take the bust to proceed, but mostly I'm amaze dto see the great lenghts you go to keep supreme intact, remember The Portrait? And even when such moves are tedious, for us, viewers, it's easy to skip, or speed up, the passages in question...

      Ah, cool to know this could be based on an actual location! I tried to do some research on Aquilon based on French, but I couldn't find anything conclusive.
      I enjoy missions where I can do such crazy moves more also, especially when I can record it and keep it archived. Those are the missions I tend to rewatch parts of myself even. This mission was more difficult to figure out how to Supreme, rather than the actual execution. The layout is confusing and the objectives quite complex.

    The guard in the guest hall is actually scripted to use the switch and open the gate, if you're going about objectives in the intended order. You're dealing with his behaviors as they function in the starting default state before you enter the room via the intended route; though unlikely, it might actually be possible to trigger the changes in their behavior by going partway up the chimney. This might (emphasis on might) also cause a change in the behavior of the static monk.

      The second powderkeg you ask about is actually in the supply room just off the Aquilon; it's the same chamber you complain about the lockpick on.
      The "find the correct sequence of bells" objective does not even appear if you've already done so.
      I see how this rat's nest of objectives and fetch quests produced some top tier ghosting solutions, but for a player just trying to understand what is going on, it's a mess! The bizzare ghostlike behavior of Mora was especially nonsensical. Elaborate moves via the engine like stacking and mantling and your incredible rooftop shortcuts don't bother my immersion; they're coin in trade of the form. Bypassing obstacles and getting seemingly impossible loot, improvising out of bad situations (like your second refrectory trip) are a part of the video's appeal. The necessity of bypassing so many scripted events, and entire objective structures, is more disruptive- but it's practically a feature of this very, very weird campaign.
      The history of the church that was originally onsite where the underground chapel is seems to be unrelated to the actual monastery it takes inspiration from. I'm not sure why, but the doctor referred to in its history is the real, historical Swiss physician de Quervain, who has a thyroid specialist with a couple conditions named after him. No clue on "Helen," either. I assumed this ancient history would pay off in some way, especially when I was seemingly being haunted by a ghost!
      At 2:51:00, the book in that secret seems to describe the almost-impossible-to-miss statue and scales loot you picked up from the baths...but there seem to be no hints toward the bricklayer trowels. I get ever more confused by the decisions in this mod.
      Scrench was likely aware of the escape tunnel- the blankets at the end were probably monk disguises, the colors fit.

    Aquilon is a name derived from Aquilo, the Latin term for the north-east wind, that would fit the placement of the room in the monastery

      Assuming up on the map is north, the room rather seems to be in the northwest.

    1:57:31 Was that a frobable telescope there? Could be a reference to the Nereid Telescope in the house of the widow Moira in TDS

      Hmm...I see it lights up when I get close, but I don't think I ever tried to interact with it. Worth a second look perhaps.

    01:19:40 The only thing i can think of is those shoes you can use in dracula reloaded to muffle your steps, maybe its a reference to that?

      I was planning on doing it later this week, but two of our kids got sick so I'm not sure. If not, then definitely next week.

    I do not know if this is connected, but in Deadly Shadows there is a mission ( A good one) called The House of the Widow Moira.

    • @klatre
      @klatre  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aha, that might well be. I haven't played that game (maybe soon), so I didn't know.

    • @Snake_0_
      @Snake_0_ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it’s definitely a reference to the Deadly Shadows Widow Moira as the ambient music from that mission plays when you enter her room here. There also seems to be a painting of her mansion from Deadly Shadows hanging in the room.
      I would definitely recommend you play Deadly Shadows some time. There are quite a few references to it in The Black Parade as well which you might miss.

      Planning on playing it this summer for myself, then perhaps later on the channel. I got it set up with patches and such working.

      Technically the whole compound is a monastery, but yes I agree. The whole campaign isn't very thief like, for better and for worse.
