I remember some years ago when I was growing up i'd catch halibut at basically the same spot and no one would believe that I actually would catch them there. I'm so happy there's several videos of people doing it now.

That’s awesome, you figured it out before everyone else. Information is pretty prevalent now, I can’t imagine trying to figure it out on my own.

@@Benjamin.stevens it was great. Literally no one would believe me other than my mom because I’d bring her some of the halibut 😂 everyone I would tell about it told me I was mistaken and was catching flounder. I knew the difference tho 😂 a 15 pound halibut looks totally different from a flounder. I started surf fishing there because I heard you can catch king salmon but to my surprise would catch tons of dog fish, some founder, sole, and the occasional halibut. Fished there many years and still haven’t caught a king salmon from any beach other than Seward 😂 I catch them out of some rivers and creeks but can’t get them out of the ocean for some reason.

Was this on the same side where people go dipnetting in Kenai and Kasiloff or another area?

Hell yeah man. Good for you. I was out about 2weeks ago at Kasilof Beach and landed 4 really good halibuts and some flounder. Ps. That flounder is really good eating man.
How long ago were you catching these ?

This was filmed about a week ago. Maybe 2 days before I posted it. But my wife and I caught 4 halibut last night so it’s still good. Going to Kasilof today!

Flounders are left eye and 99%of halibut are right eye ( one in 50,000 left eye)
