      @pcuimac - Great suggestion, but too late for this video. Maybe the organization will learn for the next time they do this. If they intended to use only one camera, the came should have been on the slides, not on Blythe. I don't think his ego would have taken too big a hit if they had done that. Rather than being informative, it actually became more of a distraction when the camera bounced from Blythe to the slides and back toward the end of this video segment.
      Still, they are making the video available publicly, rather than locking it behind a paywall, so we should be thankful to them for that.

    If you're only hearing sound from one ear go to setting on your pc, click ease of access, and search for 'Mono Audio' then enable it. It will play the left ear sound in both ears, fixing the problem. Make sure to disable it again when youre done. Or not.

    It's not the lower income folks borrowing to have homes that is the problem. It is the predatory way the balloon loans were written by greedy, sadistic prices who can't be held accountable enough.

      You're right... News flash - inflate house prices 7 fold while incomes remain stagnant, limit housing supply, regulations etc, allow speculation on 2 properties for every 1 homeless person, extend credit w/crazy leverages and you get a nice little bubble, waiting to pop when enough m1/2 is sucked out the economy through interest rates / transfer to a 0.001%
      it only ever go's one way, they try to make it sound complex, but it's really really simple, lots of money, lots of people, lots of demand - lots of inequality, most people in the world have less than £100/$100 to their name, 10 people have more wealth than 4billion people. Oh and compound interest rates - a constant flow of money from those who don't have enough, to those who have more than enough.

    The reason nobody saw the bursting of the housing bubble coming is that residential housing had not sustained a substantial price decrease in 75 yrs, that's the lifetime of all active bankers at the time. Blyth is making it sound too complicated.

    • @mrsfranczak1714
      @mrsfranczak1714 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite in my humble view. Credit default swaps were an invention of a leverage impulse and how it was hidden in a self delusional way, collusion, gambling, ignorance and lack of oversight and regulation, is well explained in several works ,not just Thomas Piketty....Michael Lewis is an easy exciting start.

    • @clarestucki5151

      @@mrsfranczak1714 People who don't really understand the cause of the financial crisis (and that's damn near everybody) are prone to demonize the infamous CDS's, but CDS's are a zero-sum game - the losses of the losers are the winnings of the winners), with no net losses to the economy. AIG lost $billions, but Goldman-Sachs, John Paulson and Dr. Burry, MADE those same $billions. The CDO's (mortgage-backed bonds) however caused $billions of net losses to the economy when the borrowers defaulted, causing the 'great recession'!

    you don't 'see' it because you don't want to. it's other people's risk, while you skim some cream off the about-to-boil-over soup. ignorance can be a factor, but greed, arrogance and simple selfishness make any 'free'market' economy a ticking bomb.

      No, that is what they want you to believe to blame the poor rather than the assholes who ran away with all our money.
      We got there because with preditory toxic loans designed by sociopaths that you needed a phd to understand.
      Sick society in decline behave that way not healthy ones. Healthy societies make available low intrest home loans with reasonable down payments to help new families grow. Not toxic loans with ballooning interest payments devised by a corporate criminal cabal.

    • @melita524e

      America used to build “starter homes” and have lots of housing programs. We are an off the rails society with an exploding homeless population, run by corporations intent on preditating on America rather than growing America. It is not ghe country I grew up in. It is diseased, selfish, greedy, and dying.

      The people who signed those mortgages were being used to create paper that could be sold as if it had value when it did not. The banksters went to people who did not have the money and lied to them. the victims lost what little they had, but fleecing the taxpayer was the real plan. They will do it again.
