DIRESTA BANDSAW WEIGHT WHF 39

- This video is on Jimmy Diresta's counter weight. This goes on the huge band saw that Keith Rucker has restored and the only thing missing is this chunk of iron.
Unfortunately this took 4 attempts to get right as the core was oversize (thanks to my rushed calculations) and shrinkage haunted me on each one.

Wow so much learning by watching ✊🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you! thank you!
no one loves their own last name as much as jimmy "DIRESTA" diresta
Another great video Clarke. It is interesting that what would seem to be a simple part can be a multi pour challenge. Thanks for sharing!
Always good to watch you work 😸
Well done 👍🏻 thanks for showing the whole process
had the wind yesterday, gonna get a little nippy tonight in Texas. Next few days a good time to be working in the foundry LOL Love watching you work, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful restoration.
How important is for him to have DIRESTA on everything...
Buddy, thank you. Cattywompus brought back memories i guess i had buried about some family thats no longer with us.
"I got to go find my dogs" 🤣
Thanks so much for sharing your process. Very interesting
Thank you for another great video. Stay safe out there. Cheers
Fun to watch this ancient process
It looks great!
Thank you!!!
Used to follow Jimmy, he puts his name on EVERYTHING!
Originally as labels to cover over any company name that is not a sponsor.
LOL, kind of like @BlondieHack's #NotSponsored @@kindablue1959
@@kindablue1959before that it was to stop people from pirating his videos.
I hope you found the dogs and they were ok. We had some really bad wind here as well when the front came through.
Hey Clarke, a little trick I picked up from one of Sandrammer's videos - when you were cutting out the riser with that piece of pipe, if you gave the sand inside the pipe a couple thumps with something like the handle of that mini bat I've seen you using in some of your older videos, it'd tighten up that plug of sand enough that you'd get the whole thing out with the pipe on the first try every time. I don't know if this will help you, but it's saved me a ton of aggravation when cutting out my Olfoundryman-style offset pouring basins.
Casting looks and ought to work great. It'll be a nice touch on that monster of a saw. Eagerly looking forward to the capstan videos!
Good
Use the Diresta weights for your tent/awning at shows.
I'm glad it turned out for you. Did you weigh the cleaned up weight? Thanks for the videos!
Those rejects make pretty decent boat anchors i guess😊
Do you think the original also might have had some shrinkage that was hidden with some filler? The main bandsaw casting also had a decent bit of filler on it if i recall correctly.
Either way its a good looking counterweight.
what to do with the extra's ??? how about "Diresta Shot-puts" ... ???
Nice job, lots of work in the weight. Should work great.
Have you tried curing sodium silicate cores in the microwave? Folks on the model engine forum reported this method is an alternative to CO2?
Can you make your castings looks less rough ?
Yes he can. He can use finer finish sand in the mold. He does that extra step when needed.
Door stops!
That hole you cut didn't look catty wampus to me, looked a bit dog eared though.
Tally Ho 🎉🎉🎉🎉 ???
He said probably a two parter at the end of January at the end.
Looks lie you could make a Diresta fry pan with the same pattern.
Кто так делает литники, что за рукожоп?...
