Love it! I'm so excited for you! And to watch you transform it over time. One suggestion. Since Romeo does laundry for his work and you don't like laundry in the bedroom. What if that is Romeos office? He would have clothes storage. Then, take one of the upstairs bedrooms for the master. The upstairs bedrooms provide closet room for both you and Romeo. It is next to the nursery one day. It's not ideal not to have an on suite and things always feel different in person, so it may not actually work. But something to think about. Also then you can enjoy going up the stairs every night for bed. And enjoy the stairs every morning too.

Yes! Especially since once you have a baby someday you won’t want to be that far away once they don’t sleep in the same room.

Such a beautiful house! As a mother of two, and just a suggestion, I would eventually make the upstairs bedroom your primary instead of diy room. You’ll want to be next to the nursery, trust me on that. Also for a brick floor on the bottom would make for a better office and diy room.

By the time the baby is old enough to be out of their bedroom, the little half-floor to get there isn't a big deal, in my opinion (I'm also a mom). It works differently for every family, though. Personally, I'd take the on-suite bathroom ANY day as well 😋😋
100 percent would do this makes sense for bedrooms to be upstairs and the office downstairs x

I thought the same, and the downstairs bath would be more practical (and accessible; walking through an office rather than someone’s private bedroom is so much less awkward), for visitors. The upstairs could then be the family sanctuary. 😌

This makes me "homesick" for my childhood home in Santa Monica, which was an adorable 1930s pale pink stucco bungalow with a rose garden. I was really young when we lived there in the 1970s, but I remember so much about it. Looked it up and it was torn down and now it's a multi-million dollar home built up the property boundary lines. :(

Congrats on finding your forever home in LA. It's gorgeous and so private. That slumber party reminded me of the one you had with your mom when you had closed on the cottage! MaCenna, that house is a DREAM. I could go on and on, but I think that just sums it up…a dream. My favorite part is the back yard. I would clear out the section up the brick walk and make it a hammock hidden in a flower garden situation. ❤️congrats!

Wow... this storybook cottage is my dream home. So cozy, with all the windows and bump outs... the stairway, the brick floors. I can't wait for this journey. I will live vicariously through you! I would move in, make it feel like home, and take awhile to just be one with the universe. We can wait for all the updates later!! Take time to smell the roses. Also in the little kitchen, space near the back door, I could see a tall bar table with two stools. Small footprint,, enough for coffee and breakfast with Romeo. This home is beyond charming!!!

It fits your personality so well I am so happy for y’all!🥹🥹idk if the wall between the kitchen & dining room is structural or not but if it were me, I’d knock that down and make a larger kitchen then you could always add a pantry! And then use the informal living room/family room as the dining room!

@@XOMaCenna MaCenna, I have a kind of crazy but yet awesome idea for that space up behind the lemon trees... what if in one corner you cleared it out and you put a hot tub with a wire-like or metal gazebo type of thing over it that vines can grow up and over it. You could add fairy lights, maybe some pretty hanging outside ornaments! It would be like a private little whimsical oasis and still have room on the other side for a little herb garden! Just some thoughts... love your home and I'm so happy for you! It's truly a beautiful place and I know you will make it even more so! Macenna, I am so happy for you both! I KNEW there would be a new home reveal after the holidays - I suspected it when your mom came to visit you in LA!!
The house is stunning!! Would you think about having the office downstairs in the Master and having your master bedroom upstairs where you plan to have the office? The reason being, when you start a family, you will want your bedroom to be as close to the nursery as possible? It would make the upstairs the sleeping suite and naturally divide the home. Also the dinning room could be turned into a pantry with downstairs powder room??
Just my thoughts, but I know whatever you do with the home will be so special! X

Ahh so excited for you and Romeo. It is such a beautiful home and feels so inviting and cosy. I would so have the master upstairs in the room you said would be a nursery, and then have the nursery in the room you said would be Romeo’s office. I can’t quite work out the layout but you could knock through to the family bath and change door location to have an en suite. Seems much better closet space up there too. Then downstairs can be a studio/guest bathroom which then ticks your boxes. So excited to see what you do with it! ❤

This is what I like, greenery. You have all these people who are flipping homes and get rid of all the greenery and lay sod and it just looks so boring. This looks magical. I love it I can see her drinking her coffee in the summer in her garden.

This is a cute home & since it’s in California I’m sure it was quite expensive.
It was confusing to see you decorating this California home and I had to search what the story was.
I guess there must be other draws about California that aren’t clear to me. People are fleeing California and moving up to Coeur d’Alene Idaho where we live.
You do a great job with design and loving up the home and I seen how this California home is coming together. The pool is fantastic very retro.
They were already living in California and Romeo is from there. They didn’t just move there.

I’ve followed MaCanna for years now but I’ve grown progressively more and more put off by this growing extravagance and disconnect from the vast majority of middle class humans… everything she shows in a video is a tax write off, which is why she shows everything. I mean, that’s how TH-camrs do it, and obviously you have to make a lot of money to spend a lot of money, but it’s just gotten to be too much for me to swallow. Literally not a single person I know could afford this level of living and I’m tired of her pretending like her life is so normal and she’s just “lucky”…. No. Just admit you make a ton of money and can therefore spend a ton of money. It’s simple. Your parents also appear wealthy which absolutely helps. The richest people I know are rich primarily because of their parents help. **Just my personal experience!!**
Idk, just some sort of acknowledgement that literally no normal person can live like this would be nice. I know I sure can’t buy a multimillion dollar house in CA to go alongside my few hundred thousand dollar house in TX… heck, I can’t even afford a $200+ pillow.
I absolutely love love love MaCenna’s aesthetic and stylistic choices but I legitimately cannot swallow these “we save everything to save money” and “we are smart with our money which is why we can afford this” comments because everyone could follow that philosophy and never scratch the surface of a life like yours. It’s not normal, it’s not common, and from an extremely average, hardworking but struggling resident of Kansas, I’m sick of this content and sick of the glorification of this content 💔
yea she definitely is not rich because she “saves everything”. it for sure has other reasons. but i dont think she herself believes she is rich because of saving lol. she just mentions she is saving everything (a lot).
i personally like reading criticism. its no good when all the comments are all the same, when everything obviously has two sides. gives you other perspectives.
Don’t forget that she also has a very strong work ethic and probably always has. She has also said that she worked her way up the corporate ladder ( in L.A. not Kansas, so probably high paying) and put a lot aside in savings for when she bought the Texas property. She may still have other decorating gigs that she does for money because she has mentioned numerous times about being in a meeting. Personally,I don’t really care about her money, just along for the ride on the renovation train!
Lol according to Zillow the house sold for over 2 million. I saw the estimated payments online at over $9,000 a month at an almost 8% interest rate. I mean, she drives a BMW and her parents house in her vlogs is HUGE. I assume TH-cam pays VERY well and/or her parents could’ve helped as well. It’s sad to see her now become totally unrelatable but good for her for working hard to achieve her dreams.

Girl! In your primary bedroom closet, it looked like you had a removable door back in that cubby area where there was a rod hanging. What a stunning home! SO much curb appeal, and we didn't even get to see the whole house. The inside is just perfect. I understand what you mean about the sink telling you this was "the one." We bought a 3 houses that had zebra stripes in them. Now when we see zebra stripes, we just say this must be the next house. Congrats!!
