Food for thought: I chased slop removal on both my Tekno 2.0 buggies over the winter, replacing pills/inserts and even the arms, only to have the slop return after a few laps. I then later came across a forum discussion on the topic of adding washers/shims to remove some of the suspension play where the lead Tekno engineer guy chimed in, saying "I would advise against taking out all of the play in the car, and especially advise against using fuel tubing. You want the car to be as free as possible. We've tested back to back to back several times, a car with the extra play is better than one with little to no play every time." Found it very interesting and relieving as it was quickly apparent that that was going to be an uphill battle to constantly be replacing parts to fight the slop. Their manual states that excessive suspension slop should be addressed, but where the line is between normal and excessive is no doubt abitrary.
very well said. I agree. im not to worried about it myself anymore because some of the over seas kyosho pro drivers haven't really mentioned it. so it must not be a big deal. Ive switched back to plastic carriers for the time being anyways.so replacement parts are cheap. Kyosho carriers have a insert that allows us to adjust caster by 1 degree negative or positive. basically this play defeats the purpose of these tunable inserts when the carriers are worn. I do feel better that the tekno rides have similar slop.! lol good stuff ! thanks for sharing that info with me because it does help!
I take the bottom of the hub carrier and give a it a little pinch in the vice to make that bottom bushing super snug in there .. Helps a lot with that lower slop

But anyhow I also have that same ruddog motor in my mp9e an freaking love it it's an amazing motor with the built-in fan. But to really wake that thing up I run a Mamba monster x. I've got that same ESC and a lot of hobbywing junk. and im just not a fan of them. A castle will wake it up hahaha. But anyhow keep up the good work looking forward to seeing that TKI2 and how that works out for you!!!🦀🦀🦀
I agree! lol i love our kyoshos! good info about the castle esc on the ruddog kv2200. I was told that the combo works perfect in truggy. Many people over power there e truggy in which causes diff issues. its hard enough to get traction !!! thanks for the support Blue Crab 💪

I've got a new castle motor in the mail as we speak on the way to take the Ruddogs place. But it's a great motor and it was well engineered, and it's not going on the shelf it's going in one of my teammates cars. It was strong enough that It can pull a wheelie on the road and maintain it. I have to post a video of that before I take it out. But yeah good luck to your old man, if Mom is still alive you would be racing with me or at least my mechanic I know for sure. Enjoy making those memories buddy with him an your kiddo!!🦀🦀
Brent after upgrading the MP9 RTR to a race buggy do you think it would be more cost effective to start with a rolling chassis kit then buy all the parts to complete?
You will save a lot of money by buying a used properly maintained rolling chassis. You wouldn’t need much option parts . The money you would save by not upgrading an rtr .you could put towards spare parts. You may have to wait a little longer to go out and wheel . But when you get everything you need .you got a solid racing machine 👍

@@konstantinosxarbilas6241 the mp10 shock tower and mp10 upper arm will fit the mp9 . You will need the front upper plate for mp10 as well to match the shock tower . Technically if you adjust toe .you should at least check end points . You may have to change End points but they will be very small changes . So small you may not have to change end point settings

Mp10 came out early 2019. The last ifmar worlds was 2018 so it has not even had a chance at a worlds yet. Yes a lot of the success of the car is who is driving it, some of these guys can wheel a lunch box and beat people.
Its unfortunate in the U.S.A that CJ Jelin is the only "pro" driver for Kyosho. CJ can wheel and has what it takes to win. BUT to win you have to have a TEAM. It takes a team to Find setup quickly at big races and only than can the driver really focus on there driving. CJ and His dad are by themselves for the most part with setups. SO kyosho is lacking drivers right now. BUT! there are some up and coming drivers who are sponsored by kyosho that are making really good progress. Pretty soon i think we will start seeing kyosho come back. the mp10 tki2 is a vast improvement. Im super impressed by it on high grip track so far. and as always, kyoshos are known to be good in loose conditions. also Kanai has been on the grind testing setups and helping develop option parts. I feel like there on the right track right now. anyways thanks for the comment! you will love the mp10T . it drives like a buggy!
i sure do! .... let me guess. .... drill hole at bottom of carrier, thread hole, and install grub screw. OR I shouldnt worry about it ?? lol there was a video release by kevin lewis who has a really good idea on fixing this issue as well.
Put a washer about 3mm thick on the outside of the arm and pass the hub bolt through it and gradually tighten the pin until the hub carrier stiffens up ,make sure your up and down movement is free from any binding up.

I.put parts plastic pag material between the hub bushings. Takes out slop and acts as a bearing...

The tki4 rtr is the best starter car if you want to go out and run right now . But you will need to do some small upgrades to get it race worthy

Yes the mp10 and mp10tki2 bodies can be slightly modified with a dremel to fit into the mp9

whats up friend! so with the mp9, the mp9 already has this upper arm so your good! dont have to worry as much with the mp9.
