Hey , how did I do for a first time silver buy ? I bought 20 Silver Eagle coins, 2012 year for $33 each. It was my first buy and I just went ahead and bought figuring now or never . I tried my best to understand the pricing and watch shows like this. I know I would probably get burned a little but I'll keep these for quite a while.

I got my friend into silver. He's like a kid in a candy store. he wanted to get a kilo coin and I had to show him that that would be a waste of money. poured kilo 800+ - coin kilo over 1200. should have seen his face. lol

I've been stacking about a year now. I'm up to 100 oz In silver rounds and bars and recently bought my 1st gold 1oz bar. I'm trying to buy 10 oz of silver a month and hopefully be able to purchase another 1oz gold coin or bar during the year as well.

I bought my first ounce at $1300 CAD. I'm guessing it was around $1200 USD. I still have that gold, but now I'd have to pay over $2600 CAD. In about 8 years, I call that real preservation of purchasing power.
Like Tim has said, gold is a good buy at any price since it is an incredible store of value.
It definitely is but it’s all kind of relative. Imagine you sold that gold 2 years ago. Now you probably wouldn’t of lost money but you would have broken even. Silver on the other hand you likely would of lost money. Still, it’s of course better than fiat currency where unless you’re putting that money in stocks it’s constantly losing value year after year indefinitely.

But like you said... "relative" or you can "cherry pick" dates all day for different outcomes.
By the way, as I'm watching this Gold just jumped to 1950😉🤠✌️
@@tonydanzl My bad lost track due to covid Jan 2019 it was roughly $1300usd. But you get my point. It depends on IF and when you sell but the ultimate conclusion is gold is a good store of value for sure. No denying that.

I started out as a collector. Bought only constitutional for a long time, and some eagles. Just in the last couple of years I started buying bullion. I really like the different design of some of these coins. I am a machinist, and understand what it takes to create these coins. So now I'm into everything. Lady had a lot of good questions. All new stackers should buy a RED BOOK guide. Lots of history and info there. Great video, Tim rocks as always
I am addicted to the numismatics, but I try to keep them to a minimum and shoot for a 70/30 split of bullion to numismatics. I buy 5 of each numismatic, 1 forever, 1 to trade, and 1 for each of my 3 children.
Hey Yankee! Greetings from Norway, Scandinavia! Love watching you and Tim on youtube, very often you are in the background on my tv screen when I enjoy taking my silver & gold collection out and stack it just to sit and watch it for hours. I started stacking one year ago in january 23rd 2022 and you are one of the main reasons I bought my first 5 ounces of silver. Today I'm celebrating that I have reached 10 kilos (322oz) of silver by 0.2 ounces :) I have a trash2treasure philosophy and hobby, I hunt down whatever people are giving away or throw out as trash that I can bring to the scrapyard and sell it. The profit goes right into gold & silver. I even have another hobby melting scrap copper into ingots and stack them as well just for the fun of it :) Keep up making videos - And please tell Tim from a norwegian stacker that he's world famous and that his contribution to your videos are worth gold ;)

In fact, I like it so much that I actually have a plan to go and visit Tim's shop and meet you either this fall or the next year and also do a road trip in the New England area and down the coast. The problem is that none of my closest friends are able to come along this year so it would probably be next year. I really hope I can make it work! As a starting stacker, this was an excellent video. So informative, and I love the no nonsense advice from Tim. It's worrying that there are already farmers and others taking silver for trade rather than dollars. I think I'll need to hit my local coin shop and see what they have for sale. I have a few Eagles and some Britannias and single 1 oz bar.
Or, and I'm just spitballing, that farmer is a stacker and just trying to add some more silver to his stack. I mean it is a gamble to an extent on the farmers part to take silver since the FIAT value of the silver could drop. But also could he a better deal considering the manipulation of our FIAT currency.
I'm taking silver for my farm stand stuff too.
I'm new to stacking and I'm slowly starting to feel a bit more comfortable with what I'm doing. I want to thank you both for all of the education that I've received so far. I'm out on the west coast and should I ever make it out to the north east, I most definitely will be stopping by with the intention of making a purchase to take back home with me. Thank you for the videos. I've only got a bit, over 200oz since the early 80's and a few tubes of .10, .25 and .50 pre 64 but pick anything I can afford. I usually look at gun shows and find some in the display boxes and get some good deals.
I'm a relatively new stacker, about 2 months into it, and I didn't find it intimidating at all. I enjoyed purchasing my PM. They're beautiful to look at, I like the artwork and I keep it in a safe place.
