I wouldn’t necessarily say that. There’s plenty of social services here. The issue is that the bare minimum is done to assist people in accessing them. I’m not sure telling people that being jobless is a death sentence is helping people find those recourses though.

Personally, as a lifelong Brit, I'd never move anywhere outside anywhere I feel is even remotely "British", "Celtic", or "Gaelic" in my mind, those the UK, Ireland and Crown Dependencies. Regions of the world each have their own unique feel to me that I feel compatible or incompatible with, irrespective of social, economic, political or environmental situations, i.e. even if all the land north of France got decimated beyond repair in any way, I still won't move because the "feel" of the rest of the world would be incompatible with me. OK, I think what I'm describing might be just secondhand homesickness from you moving to the US. I still feel it burning and screaming constantly at your decision regardless of legitimate reasons to leave the UK, of which I'm sure there are plenty.

Good thing about America is it has really great food, there is a furry convention almost every month. Downside, things are really expensive here, and there is always a conflict in the political climate. America is a good place if you work hard you will be pretty successful, i’v worked the same job for over 17 years now, with good benefits.
