One of my best friends lives in Chicago, and she says almost the exactly same things as you regarding the dating scene! As a single woman who just graduated from graduate school, I’d love to hear your thoughts in a Shadow & Schmooze about the best dating cities!!
Dude… I’m an older woman who lives vicariously through you and your travels, makeup experimentation and application and just general verve for life. I’ve been subscribed for years and don’t wear a stitch of makeup 🤣🤷🏻♀️ but am all “YASSSS… put ON those luxe lashes!”
It’s so inspiring how independent, active, positive and hard working person you are, specially having to deal with chronic pain. It’s really impressive 👏🏼👏🏼. Also, you are extra pretty, getting more and more beautiful each day, wow
I sometimes watch Taylor and admire her going after what makes her happy. I wish I’d had have the same independence she has. It was not my personality but I admire her for it!,
The dating scene (at least to me) is horrible here!! I feel like a lot of guys feel like they match with me but they can do better. Or I’ll go on the first date then I’m ghosted after. Otherwise, I hope you are enjoying Chicago! I would recommend going to other neighborhoods like Lincoln Square, Lincoln Park, Old Town, Roscoe Village, Lakeview. The neighborhoods is where you will find all the locals and some fun dive bars or popular restaurants. Be safe and have fun!
@@CrissyBeee yes! I have been here my whole life and I think the dating scene here really started going downhill once Tinder became very popular. Not sure about elsewhere but Chicago uses it really for hooking up. And guys I think got used to that. Just my opinion! I also know a few couples who have met off tinder but seems very rare!
My mom who’s been living in Chicago for 7 years, met her now bf who is from Indiana lol. They have a long distance relationship. She says that yes surprisingly the dating scene is bad.
It’s bad & been bad. What you’ll see is that a lot of guys end up with someone they met through friends or family & you’re going, “really? Somehow I wasn’t worth even talking to while ‘that’ was?” I’m working on moving partly because of it. They don’t want to put in effort & expect a lot out of you & to show you off, but then they end up with someone they were set up with, or is the same ethnic background so their family probably introduced them, and here you’re taking the initiative & going all over to meet people.
As far as dating goes, the best way to meet someone is by being out and about. There's so much to do and so many places to see that you'll have way better luck than in person than on the apps.
Oooooooooh GIRL. Dating in Chicago is NOT IT. I’ve been single on and off for the past few years in this city, and about a year ago decided I couldn’t do the apps anymore. So I’m gonna adopt a cat instead. 😎
Taylor!! As a Polish person, the only pierogi my family gets are Aleksandra’s from Kasia’s Deli. The potato and cheese (the cheese is important) and the beef are our personal faves. Eat them with some sour cream and/or caramelized onions and homemade fried bacon (when we’re healthier we do turkey bacon lol). The ones you got are not very authentic. Love the video, enjoy Chicago!
I used to live on Hoyne 2 blocks from Kasia’s! Can’t tell you how often I got tempted and had to stop after getting off the bus haha. Miss it for sure.
Chicago is one of my favorite cities. It is beautiful, clean, and has endless things to do. However, do not commit to living there until you visit in January. Trust me on this.
I have lived here my whole life. As long as you invest in a warm coat (i.e. Canada Goose) and other high quality warm winter gear, it's fine. It's all about layering. 😁
Truth! The high heating bills and street salt that eats right through your automobile and favorite pair of shoes is never discussed on these You Tube channels. 🙄
Chicago is just as beautiful in the winter. Yeah, we get snow but it's not terrible. Ice skating by Millennium Park is fun and the holiday lights are magnificent!
So glad you’re enjoying Chicago! I’ve lived here almost my whole life and it’s none like any other city. The food, architecture, the people, there’s literally so much to do you’ll never get bored. Interesting how a lot if not most of the people who always bring up the crime aren’t even from here🤷♀️
i’ve mentioned the crime before and i think it’s definitely important to speak about when talking about a city. the gun violence in chicago is insane and getting worse.
@@20thcenturyrelic When making a decision to move somewhere you have to think about what’s most important to you and if the pros outweighs the cons then you’re gonna make the decision that’s best for you. I think Taylor is aware of the super cold winters but winter here doesn’t last forever and if everything she’s looking for she finds it in Chicago I’m more than sure she’s gonna be willing to put up with it. I absolutely hate winter but I kinda just stick through it because I have everything I need here and I’m happy with the life I’ve made myself here.
Hey, lady! I know everyone is saying it, but it’s true….you’re looking extra gorgeous these days. Not that you haven’t always been beautiful, without question, but it seems next level lately. My granddaughter moved to Chicago in August for college and lives downtown. It’s so darn beautiful there. I am loving these so I can picture some of the things my precious girl gets to see and experience.
Tell her to be careful please. A young person alone in the city needs to be on a local neighborhood social-media site to see what's going on near them and reach out to neighbors for help if they need it. Chicago is indeed beautiful but the violent crime here is NO JOKING MATTER! The city is also very rapey and filled with predators because the courts are so soft-on-crime. Downtown Chicago has gotten progressively worse and more dangerous. It's a total different city after dark...

I was working and living in Chicago for a good 3 years, and it still has a special place in my heart among all the cities I have lived and visited in the states. Love the lake trail in the summer time! I usually ran from where we lived (near Grace St) until the start of magnificent mile where the channel store was. Love the farmer's market every Saturday near lincoln park zoo. I cannot wait to be back. Love your vlog btw!
I've lived in Chicago for a little over a year and the dating scene is a trainwreck. Everybody ghosts, even after a date that went really well. It's a good city to make girl friends and live your life without a man 💕

So glad you’re enjoying it here! And yes… I hear from friends the apps aren’t the way to go here. It’s such a busy city, so you have a better chance of meeting someone “out and about!”
Chicago is great, so beautiful, so many things to do, but don’t poo-poo the winters until you’ve tried it. That wind off Lake Michigan is a beast! I still think Austin is your #1 spot. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
The winters aren’t nearly as bad as MN or farther north. They’re actually much milder than years past! Just need a long down weather coat, hat/gloves and good boots!
Random recommendations: Try the Violet Hour, Vollo Wine Bar, Ada Street, and Big Star. The hideout is a cute little house that has concerts. For downtown photos and prettiness look up the cancer survivor garden and hedge maze/canal at millennium park. Lastly, there’s great coffee everywhere. Some off the path suggestions would be Hexe and Werewolf coffee.
Taylor I just had to chime in and say I’m originally from NYC and am a die hard fan of my city❤️ however, I love Chicago! When I first travelled there I couldn’t believe how clean and beautiful it was! What a great city! I mean it’s a city with great shopping and restaurants and a few blocks away is the most beautiful lake and beach! How awesome is that?!😘 I know the weather is an issue, but I’m a 4 season girl, and hate the heat, so everything is a compromise I guess. Good luck with your decision making!
Fun fact: Chicago is actually referred to as “the Windy City” because our politicians are notoriously “full of hot air” lol. And yes, dating here sucks. I met my husband after 4 years of being single, when we were both in the suburbs lol. Hinge is also just not big here, it’s more Bumble and I honestly met mine on Tinder.
Navy Pier is hopping during summer months. Live bands, beer garden, boat tours and air show can be seen from pier. It can be super busy with tourist, visitors
Please please go to the other neighborhoods in Chicago other than downtown. Check out wicker park, Logan square, Lincoln park, etc there are so many cute neighborhoods with sooo much culture, history, character and charm that downtown doesn’t have imo. Also try Bumble I’ve heard it’s better in Chicago than Hinge here
A scarf/shawl is good for wind. It's easy & light-weight to carry & you can cover your head/hair/face with it in windy conditions & tuck it into your coat. Obviously in the winter you'd need something heavier. Being a Cali girl, I don't think I could handle Chicago winters but I'd love to visit the city in the Spring or Autumn.
I thought the audio sounded great in that clip! I've wanted to visit Chicago for so long now!!! It looks gorgeous! P.S Taylor the guy that didn't go on that date is the one who missed out!
Dating apps here can be ROUGH, but with some patience, there are still some really good guys. Otherwise, I have met lots of good people while out and about, so it's nice that the weather is warming, so more opportunities arise. Regardless, I HOPE YOU LOVE IT HERE! You've brought some incredible weather with you, too, so thanks 😄
I have been waiting for this one! Chicago native here, for sure visit Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, and Boystown. We are trying to avoid gentrification in some areas, so I am not mentioning those here on purpose (I know you'll understand). But these are some good neighborhoods to visit that aren't downtown so you can get the Chicago experience.
I love being able to see my apartment in all of your blogs now! Regarding the dating scene, many of my friends are single and share the same sentiments about online dating. I have heard that in-person is better and my friends have gone to some speed dating events! I have found such a great group of friends here and it so easy to really find your core group here!
Forgot to mention you definitely have to try Sawada Coffee if you haven’t. Their Military Latte (matcha latte with a shot of espresso in it!) is so delicious!
Not to sound weird but your voice is so relaxing. Not like in a put me to sleep kinda way but like a my anxiety sucks today and your voice brings me calm. Thank you for your videos!
You have been a favorite You Tuber for years now BUT loving your channel even more lately! Like I’m usually on TikTok for downtime but I go straight back to TH-cam when I see that you uploaded! 💗
Longtime Illinois native- born in the city of Chicago and now living in the Northern suburbs. Definite pros and cons to the city... namely as far as safety and crime are concerned.
On a different note. Have an Italian beef. :) and Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza is a must have but most commonly you'll find the super thin crust pizzas carved into little squares and THOSE are the best. Also get Portillo's- the chocolate cake is a must have.
I’m loving these Nomad videos!!! I haven’t been to these cities yet, but it makes me really want to go after watching your videos! So informative, honest and straight forward 🥰
Chicago has changed so much since I moved away, but it also brought me so much joy for 15 years. This video got me all nostalgic and in my feelings. (Funny that the dating scene still sucks though tbh) 💙❤️❤️❤️❤️💙
i love watching my city on videos from other people's perspectives so much, it gives me warm butterflies even though i've had a love/hate relationship with it for years. but! i will say downtown is always like 10 degrees colder and windier than the neighborhoods so always bring a light jacket. i am newly single after basically being in relationships for 10 years so this gives me no hope for dating 🙃
Your skin is literally giving in this video!! Can you do an updated skin care routine? So pretty 😍love your outfits too so effortless, yet put together
I work on Navy Pier at Chicago's local NPR station! If I had been walking to get food on my lunch break and run into you, I would've lost my mind! I'm manifesting a random run-in while you're in town.
You have to try the Potato & Cheese perogie! The sweet cheese ones are better paired with a jam since they’re typically more of a desert. The potato and cheese ones are savory and are amazing with sautéed onions
Yup, savory is the way to go! The sweet cheese are definitely a desert style and not my personal favorite. I love the spinach and feta and potato onion.
Funny I have followed you and Gabriela Carrillo for years on YT and she is a performer is SIX and they are on tour right now! I really want to see it. You make Chicago look amazing!
Spot on with Chicago dating scene. I don't use Hinge personally, but while looking through with my girlfriends, the people on there aren't my "type". Would love to hear about your experiences in other cities because I thought this is just how dating apps are everywhere, haha.

I put a thick lotion on then use Vaseline on my feet with cotton sox, I have been doing this since the early 80's on my feet & they are soft, soft, soft! Plus, it's way cheaper than Kerasal! It has been so cold here we're afraid our Apple trees will freeze!
The topic on the thumbnail you were showing really interests me. I'm starting as makeup artist and feel like I have to show my work better in order to get more visibility and clients. So I'm searching a lot
I LOVE Chicago!! I travel for work almost monthly and have been to MANY major cities and it is by far one of my favorites. It's like a cleaner, less stressful NYC. I plan to move there one day. You have to check out different neighborhoods! Last time I was there I stayed 3 weeks in Wicker Park and fell in love. Great area.
I don’t normally love watching vlogs but I LOVE yours 💕💕 That kerasal foot cream is so awesome. I use it 3x a week straight out of the shower (with socks) -and the days I don’t use it I just use aquaphor. Whenever I get a pedicure I always get compliments on how soft my feet are! Man, Chicago really is the most beautiful city.
Yep, Tinder & Bumble are the move here
Oklahoma City is actually the windiest city. Everyone always thinks it’s Chicago.
@@livingasarose3927 it does get pretty windy here, but definitely not the windiest.
I love Chicago…. After watching this and your real estate vlog I definitely feel like I could live there.
Navy Pier is hopping during summer months. Live bands, beer garden, boat tours and air show can be seen from pier. It can be super busy with tourist, visitors
Fun fact, chicago has the highest polish population outside of Warsaw. So you will be able to find those pierogis everywhere!
Please please go to the other neighborhoods in Chicago other than downtown. Check out wicker park, Logan square, Lincoln park, etc there are so many cute neighborhoods with sooo much culture, history, character and charm that downtown doesn’t have imo. Also try Bumble I’ve heard it’s better in Chicago than Hinge here
Girl your makeup on the 2 Chicago videos is over the top gorgeous.
Omg we want the dating video recap!!!
Oh! Definitely try the Ralph Lauren Cafe on the Mag Mile. Their Avocado and Crab Salad is amazing. 😊
Screw dating. Live ya life girl - one day you won't have all this glorious time to yourself
I lived in Milwaukee about 1.5 hours north of Chicago and have been waitingggg for this one!! :)
You should go to the Starbucks reserve and 360 tilt to see the best view of chicago!!
I love being able to see my apartment in all of your blogs now! Regarding the dating scene, many of my friends are single and share the same sentiments about online dating. I have heard that in-person is better and my friends have gone to some speed dating events! I have found such a great group of friends here and it so easy to really find your core group here!
That blue ralph lauren takes me back to being in high school in the early 2000s. Smells so good!
(Funny that the dating scene still sucks though tbh)
💙❤️❤️❤️❤️💙
i love watching my city on videos from other people's perspectives so much, it gives me warm butterflies even though i've had a love/hate relationship with it for years. but! i will say downtown is always like 10 degrees colder and windier than the neighborhoods so always bring a light jacket.
i am newly single after basically being in relationships for 10 years so this gives me no hope for dating 🙃
Love all of your vlogs but I am of course super excited about the Chicago ones. You make our city beautiful ❤️ ☕🌞
I’m born and raised in Chicago. Hope you enjoy what Chicago has to offer. Stay safe and if you have any questions I can gladly help.
@LaurenSchu?
I love NPR shows.
Garrett’s popcorn is a must to try. Get the Garrett mix, cheese & caramel corn popcorn. It is so good.
I'm on a bus traveling/backpacking from Miami to key west and enjoying your vlog. You inspire me
My pain is so intense today. I totally understand your struggles but you inspire me!
Love your NOMAD vlogs. Well, I love all your vlogs but especially your travel vlogs are so interesting!
💖Solo date nights are the best!! Enjoy Chi-Town, Taylor 💞
Funny I have followed you and Gabriela Carrillo for years on YT and she is a performer is SIX and they are on tour right now! I really want to see it. You make Chicago look amazing!
Im super excited to see where you pick to settle down.Loving your vlogs and apartment search videos.Your makeup looks amazing.
I'm from Florida, and the waves of Lake Michigan are blowing my mind. 🤯 new mic sounds great. 💜
Wow, Chicago seems like such a vibrant and pretty city
I love your nomad vlogs! I find them so relaxing and really look forward to each one!
Spot on with Chicago dating scene. I don't use Hinge personally, but while looking through with my girlfriends, the people on there aren't my "type". Would love to hear about your experiences in other cities because I thought this is just how dating apps are everywhere, haha.
Hi Taylor 👋 It's chilly this week here keep that Sherpa close Also if you can come to the Chicago Premium Outlets, downtown Naperville Riverwalk, Rosemont shopping area, Batavia boutiques if time allows 😃😀😃
Happy that I knew what theater from your shot. Glad you're enjoying Chicago. It's a great city.
welcome to Chicago, stick around its so much fun here. especially with summer coming up there is so many fun activities!!
that checkered jacket is gorgeous!! makes u look super put together!! try the original dunkin donut store iced coffee, the. black one, it tastes so good! it has a strong yummy coffee taste.
the audio in that clip with the new mic was picking up a lot of background noise.
LOVE THE VLOGS!!
I don’t know what you’re doing differently but you look stunning in this video, don’t get me wrong you’re beautiful regardless but in this video you’re glowing✨😍
I love when you do perfume recommendations because I love a lot of the same fragrances you do! I trust your recommendation!
Love this vlog! Can’t wait for more. I cant even begin to explain how I get all the feels seeing my beautiful home through someone else’s eyes. Also, every time I’m out I’m always hoping that I accidentally run into you. I would totally freak though. But I’m a big fan and so happy you’re here! Continue enjoying Chicago. And sorry about the dating scene. That’s a sore subject for me.
My sister lives in Chicago so I visit often. It's my favorite city! I'm from India and yes samosas are so good! I sometimes make them at home.
Your eyes with that hair color is beautiful!Welcome to the Chi!
Have so much fun in Chicago. It’s one of the best cities in the world 😍
Ngl I fell off on watching your TH-cam videos but seeing that you're in Chicago has made me so excited bc I'm from chicago I hope I run into you ! I've got lots of videos to catch up on and I'm excited for it ♡♡
I am from Chicago and my office building was right there next to Millennium Park for years. It's a great city. Love it here. 😊
P.S. I met my husband at a show when "Tony n Tina's Wedding" was in Chicago. He was an actor in the show (Tony's best man) and I was in the audience. I asked him for his autograph. 😊🥰 I never used a dating app, so don't have any advice there.
You are absolutely stunning, Taylor!! Chicago definitely agrees with you. I hope you're well. Vlog was awesome! Take care. 🌺🦋✌️
SO RANDOM but I’m pretty sure you stayed in my apt building! I absolutely love it there. Also - it is amazing that you went to Six!! Such a great perk of living in Chicago!
summer in chicago is undefeated. wells st. is where I go for food and its walkable to the zoo. -single suburb dude
Loved Six. Saw it in Chicago at Navy Pier in 2019, and again last week. So happy you love it here.
Yeaaah, our dating scene sucks. 😅 At least online. None of my online dates ever worked out - thankful to have met my current boyfriend in person.
I’m OBSESSED with your hair in the beginning of this vlog😍🤩Perfection💁🏽♀️💜
