Shantiniketan Tour vlog
Shantiniketan is a neighbourhood of Bolpur city in Bolpur subdivision of Birbhum district in West Bengal, India, approximately 152 km north of Kolkata . Santiniketan is known world over for its contribution to education, arts, and literature, but Rabindranath Tagore’s town in Bholpur, West Bengal is much more than that. Santiniketan is well connected by rail and road from Kolkata. We started our journey on 25th December, 2020 and it was really memorable for all of us. Within the town, e-rickshaws called Totos, take you everywhere. They can be found easily and are quite reasonable. Most drivers offer to show you around and stay with you for the whole day for a price of Rs500-600. You can also hire a bike and peddle around the town and onward to Sonajhuri Khoai Forest and Kopai River. The town is best explored on foot, to soak in all the local delights.
We stayed at Matir bari. Set right in front of the Sonajhuri forest, Matir Bari is a quaint mud house. You can either spend your time in the cozy rooms or lounge about in the balconies. Or you can go for a walk in the forest right across the brook.Our experience was awesome though we missed poush mela and we missed Viswa Bharati University due to pandemic. We want to hear yours.
