Bethesda kicked it all off with Horse armour and SShivering Isles expansion. They deserve to be owned by microsoft now. M$ is making a bunch of moves to try and change their perception, I don't call them Micro$hit ever since. They are friendlier to the pc gaming community than pc developers lately. They will forego a shit load of potential profit to buy back the good grace of gamers. They know we all have eyes on bethesda too bc of the acquisition, and await to see what they do with it. W.e that is will make or break them with time. How they treat the PC platform really does have a lot of bearing on what consoles people pick up. If they stick to their plan and allow games to be played on xbox and pc from a single purchase, they are golden and have an advantage over every other platform. We will see though, they didn't become micro$hit for no reason, and it will take a lot for them to shed that title completely.
@GoFuckYourself DumbFuck considering add ons and purchaseable content existed for commodore 64 games and were super common in the old days of gaming you are full of shit.
Imagine if people actually just stopped buying sports video games. Until they improved in some way. I wonder what EA would do if we could organize ourselves like that.
Good luck with that. There are too many people with the intelligence of a broken lightbulb to know better, or people who even care about their time and money and others.
I think even if you riled up the entire gaming community and got them to stop, it wouldn't put a huge dent in sales. These games really appeal to casual players - my dad literally plays nothing but fifa, buys the new one every year or 2. He doesn't play ultimate team, at least, just the more traditional management stuff.
The problem is that would only work if people who are huge fans of these games expressed their frustration with EA. They’re not going to listen to people who haven’t touched anything published by EA since the PS2, nor are they going to listen to people who only buy Respawn’s more consumer-friendly titles like Fallen Jedi while being fully aware that EA published-games by the one studio they haven’t obliterated (yet) are the exception, not the rule. Only FIFA/EA fanatics could make EA sit up and take notice to their casual evil, and so far, even crap like this isn’t enough to make them protest in any way.
The great thing about being respectful and even-tempered is that when you cursed, it really made me aware of how passionate you are on the subject, since it was so out of character...That said, when you said EA was "completely full of s**t." I laughed my ass off. Thanks for the upload!
Except in this case this pit has been known for years. I'm not sure why it's suddenly a thing again because it's already well known that EA doesn't give a shit.
Keep in mind this is also after many countries are trying to ban lootboxes or try to place strict regulation, after EA payed few fines already, after gamers hate them. Image what would EA do if everyone stayed silent
We've been diving into this goddamn pitt so far we made it clear through to the opposite side of the planet years ago and are now flying through deep space, spinning wildly out of control through the gap between galaxies
I’m not even shocked, this is exactly the sort of numbers I thought it would be. It will continue because companies can treat people like shit and they still go back for more.
I will never forget, I paid 300 dollars worth of fifa coins to assemble my Man city squad in 2015. The basic ones mind you. I was still getting destroyed by other players with the special cards but whatever. Then one day I logged in and I saw a notice saying they would no longer be working on the game as they were now focused on 2016. And it occurred to me that I'd have to spend a similar amount or more to build anything close to contention as cards don't carryover. Fast forward to Fifa 20, which I bought because I hadn't played in 5 years but I was determined not to pay a penny more. Of course I was stuck with low tier players for an entire year and never made it past the 4th division. I returned the game and it may be another 5 years before i return again.
I don’t play the FIFA games anymore, not for many years, but I do get some fun listening to all these problems and glad I’ve avoided them given what they’ve become.
What funny about this is that in the older FIFA / Winning Eleven games you can create a "custom team" and make a roster of players from all the teams available in that game. No Microtransaction
Yeah we've went from getting about a dozen genuine 9/10 games per year in the 00's to being lucky if we get one per year by 2020. I'm old enough to remember unfortunately lol.
Imagine going back 40 years in time, and telling people that there would be an industry that exists where people would pay thousands of dollars just so their pixels on a television would be better than another person's pixels while playing a video game. Now... just imagine if this industry existed back then... "Yeah, I paid $500 just so my Pac-Man could move 25% faster than other people's Pac-Man's. Check out my high score, dude."
dude in Genshin to get the new unit it costs you like $250 max to get the new unit and thats with the worst RNG possible. Thats a mobile f2p gacha game that is more fair than FIFA
Is there any new mechanics. I have played every doom game but I find it difficult to finish them at times. Sometimes they just feel so repetetive and the fact that the story is trash does not help. Basically is the dlc any better than the main game?
@@0subsWith0vidsChallenge the 2nd DLC is not as tough as the 1st one but it's still as challenging as the main game, there's a couple new mechanics and some variant enemies. You should try it if you want
Bethesda will fuck up the launch of their games but, and i say this with no love for todd or anyone at that company, they sure can make a fun functional game if they actually get off their fat lazy asses and try.
They brought out these cards as Squad Building Challenges about 3 FIFA's ago. It was achievable through the League Squad Building Challenges because they gave out packs and high rated players every time you completed them. They decided to remove these high rated players and make all the packs in those challenges untradeable. They also now have a time limit on each of these Prime Moments Icon Squad Building Challenges. They really are a scummy company.
Legit, EA has stumbled upon a Golden Goose. For as long as card games have been around, power creep and the need to entice their players to buy new expansions has made long-term comprehensive developmental planning for card game growth, exasperating and near-impossible. For EA, no matter how much money you spend, every new year comes to a new Fifa or Madden and a wipe of everyone's UT. Insane to think about.
And the really sad thing is even if you're mega rich and do spend the money to build your dream team, it doesn't carry over to the next version of the game. I though a $70 game was too much, imagine paying $100k++ for a game+dream team
7:15 The duration is not really an issue. The key issue is that you can skip the duration with money. Therein lies the problem. But I do agree, because it is annualised, it sets a hard time limit in terms of how long the game is worth something, hence the lack of practicality when farming for your ream team.
the funny thing is though it doesn't even really give you that much of an advantage due to their scripting mechanics, or "dynamic difficulty" as they call it, where tweaks are made mid game depending on who's winning / losing, it effects all players stats, makes your players run slower, shoot worse etc etc, and makes the other team WAYY better. it's just an illusion that it gives you an advantage, and it feels good having shiny cards.
I think the problem now isn't only EA itself, is also the people that keep buying those games, year after year and also those lootboxes, if they buy it, they're showing EA they're agreeing with that, and that won't change anytime soon
The prize pool for the fifa esports world tournament was only like $200,000 . So that means top players spent more money/time getting top tier characters, than winning the top prize in the Fifa tournament.
I don't put Origin on my machine, I don't like running booty launchers in my background to buy one or two games. At that point the pirate bay offers a better product. I might would buy Mirrors Edge Catalyst, as it's a sequel I anticipated for years and years. Haven't played it yet though, bc they want to implement drm for a game nobody cares about anyway. 24/7 online needed is an instant pass for me. Fuck that.
As someone who plays fifa in every 2-3 years this is a little exacurated. The competitive modes Do give good rewars to upgrade your team but you are right there is no way for a "f2p" player to get a squad like that in a year. Plus i have been hearing some discord from my frieds who play annualy that the rewards have been downgraded since 19 which was my last fifa
Imagine if EA took some notes on games that did good and made huge profit WITHOUT making it p2w, micro transaction packed, requiring DLC to play the game, etc.
Me too. I grew up in the PS1 to PS2 era. That was a different time. So much innovation. But I guess it depends on what you play. There's still innovation, but you have to dig deeper instead of just playing the blockbusters. But how many kids do that... The difference is that before you could play the big games and still get that innovation. Still, the innovation now isn't as deep. A few games here and there doing something new on a surface level. Mostly indie games built on small budgets. There's no revolutionary games coming out, such as GTA3 or MGS1.
What is left to "expose"? Everything they do is almost transparent by now, its just that they are so big that the only way to bring them down is a bigger company buying them and then disbanding them
As much as I would like to see that happen, it won't be happening any time soon. EA doesn't care about what randos on the internet like us think. As long as their whale cash cows keep making them their bottom line, EA is going nowhere. Unless you can get those cash cows to be more responsible with their money, keep on dreaming.
When I first was introduced to Ultimate Team in FIFA, I didn't give a crap about it. I saw the game mode, somewhat thought the mode had some mechanic to annoy the player and had a way of making them play the game, like the use of achievements and trophies, to tell the player that they haven't completed 100% of the game. Maybe a bit lucky, I didn't play the game because I have folks telling me in the UK, that I'm fake and I know nothing about football, so I didn't bother and left the FIFA games, alone. In a way, I'm glad there's a message (like, all the videos) telling those guys about this sinkhole, of a game mode, because those guys in the UK get carried away, with soccer and we do all kinds of crazy things, to be a supporter of football.
Everyone already know about EAs greed, thats not the real problem, the problem is that even though people know that, they still keep giving EA money, so obviously they wont change when they still keep getting more and more money
I cried a little when they finally lost the exclusive license for star war games, i have no hope for star wars anymore but atleast now someone who might still give a shit could get their hands on the rights to make a not dog shit star wars game
The amount of money that ea still makes in these games basically secured their licence for ever. FIFA sees videogames just as expensive merch, they don't consider it an art form, just a revenue sources paid by fat bastards who can't pick up a ball to play.
So it would take likely 5 years of casual play to create a dream team, at which point 4 new games have released and the servers for the game you've been grinding on are probably shutting down, if they havent already.
When your "optional" purchases are the price of a mortgage or a muscle car, you're really putting the "dream" in dream team. -EA sales representatives, apparently
Honestly why the fuck dont people just play that one soccer game that 4chan does their seasonal board cups you can make damn near anything and you dont have to pay 100k to make a good team
@@TheRealRusDaddy Sport title gamers are casuals and mostly don't like video game, just their obsession with the sport and their favorite players. They don't give a single f if what they're buying is anti-consumer or of poor quality.
For publicly traded game companies that have to answer to investors it probably is legitimately required. Hence AAA games often being inferior to indie games these past few years, shitty pay to win mechanics print money.
Once I went to a friend's house just to get some sleep and he was there playing FIFA, but not really. The PS4 was on for like an hour while he spent most of time scrolling menus and looking for card prices in some app that show real time prices and trades. Very fun to watch
Said this to my brother, spend more time in menus looking for players etc than actually playing matches. That's not a bad thing as playing the actual match is annoying, due to lag, crap mechanics, opposition who are mostly adults wanting to do stupid kiddy animated celebrations after every goal, which makes matches last 25 mins instead of 15 mins. List goes on and on
We can deal damage to EA by not buying their games anymore, but people will still throw their money at them, so there's nothing we can do -.- but I've been doing my part, I've not purchased anything from EA lately
Atleast it stays in one version and is somewhat fun even with gacha since they do give chars on eventsrather than a repacking old wine in new bottle like ea does
@@ak-ub1ym I'm all for defending Genshin but you can not sit there and tell me the weapons banner is anything beyond cruel. I saw what rolling for the Staff of Homa did to people.
As damning as this is, It won't change anything. The companies are going to keep producing games with these exploitative mechanics and the general consumer is too young, or to ill informed to avoid purchasing games that are built to exploit them.
You would think that even casual gamers should know by now what they are getting into. All the complaining about EA doesn't really get us anywhere. They only do it because people buy it en masse...
The worst part of all this that people who are good traders and make millions without buying fifa points, EA bans their account. Realistically these cards not even one is obtainable by trading cause EA will ban your account.
The fact that they release a new edition of the game that resets every year despite being not necessary shows how hopelessly greedy they are. If their game was one that got patched every year and you didn't need to buy it every single time, this might actually be more excusable.

I remember when people didnt need to have every game breaking bis item or unlockable to enjoy the game.
Smoothbrains will continue to buy it until they die not caring that its always the exact same gsme
I don't have to organize anything. I don't play garbage games like this lol. Gotta be kidding me😂😂😂
I thought this was old news. For years an old roommate of mine would complain about Madden doing exactly this.
It was always like this its just most people were happily blindly ignoring it before now
Yeah, but Yong likes to do a video of this topic every week.
The great thing about being respectful and even-tempered is that when you cursed, it really made me aware of how passionate you are on the subject, since it was so out of character...That said, when you said EA was "completely full of s**t." I laughed my ass off. Thanks for the upload!
“It's Easier to Fool People Than It Is to Convince Them That They Have Been Fooled.” - Mark Twain.
Every time I think I've reached the end of EA's barrel, the bottom falls out and a new deeper, darker pit makes itself known.
“WE WONT STAND FOR THAT” said the people who stood for that
It'll be a cold day in Hell when EA grows a conscience.
And of course the AAA Game industry will try to one-up this in their strange contest to be the worst company of all time.
Imagine a world without paid lootboxes...
snap back to reality
That's it, you're going to 2000
*snaps my own neck*
But if you close your eyes...
The pinaccle of fun gaming was when marvel vs capcom 2 came out..early 2000s
ope there goes gravity?
I don’t play the FIFA games anymore, not for many years, but I do get some fun listening to all these problems and glad I’ve avoided them given what they’ve become.

Best solution don’t play there games till they wake up and smell the coffee.
What funny about this is that in the older FIFA / Winning Eleven games you can create a "custom team" and make a roster of players from all the teams available in that game.
No Microtransaction
Boom that's how football games should be played until FIFA points are banned
It used to be a golden age of gaming, now it’s just waiting for a golden game to come.
Yeah we've went from getting about a dozen genuine 9/10 games per year in the 00's to being lucky if we get one per year by 2020. I'm old enough to remember unfortunately lol.

That's 10 years if you only play 6 hours a day EVERY day.
Ten new fifa games and they probably wouldn't support the game you're playing
Imagine going back 40 years in time, and telling people that there would be an industry that exists where people would pay thousands of dollars just so their pixels on a television would be better than another person's pixels while playing a video game.
Now... just imagine if this industry existed back then... "Yeah, I paid $500 just so my Pac-Man could move 25% faster than other people's Pac-Man's. Check out my high score, dude."
You need to make a shirt that says " EA= Radiation or diarrhea"
Holy crap...that's a mobile gacha game grind level there, except mobile game doesn't charge you $60
Nor does it reset annually. Like damn
As someone whose only gacha is genshin. Mihoyo seem like saints in comparison to this fucking garbage holy shit.
dude in Genshin to get the new unit it costs you like $250 max to get the new unit and thats with the worst RNG possible. Thats a mobile f2p gacha game that is more fair than FIFA
Imagine actually grinding that out and by the time you're done 2 more games would of come out...
Man, I just love hearing more about EA’s greed, meanwhile DOOM Eternal just dropped a new DLC and it’s fucking badass.
Is there any new mechanics. I have played every doom game but I find it difficult to finish them at times. Sometimes they just feel so repetetive and the fact that the story is trash does not help. Basically is the dlc any better than the main game?
@@0subsWith0vidsChallenge I really don’t want to spoil this DLC too much but you wield a big ass hammer and ride a dragon. Nuff said.
@@TheRealRusDaddy well now they are owned by Microsoft
"thats like saying diarrhea is better than radiation!" - yong
DiarrhEA
Write that down WRITE THAT DOWN!
NO single game is anywhere close to worth even 1% of that amount, jesus christ.
Right? Imagine spending $110K om a video game
3:35 666 and EA in the same context, sounds legit.
"There be whales here captain!"
EA "WE got to have ...money! -smirk-
the funny thing is though it doesn't even really give you that much of an advantage due to their scripting mechanics, or "dynamic difficulty" as they call it, where tweaks are made mid game depending on who's winning / losing, it effects all players stats, makes your players run slower, shoot worse etc etc, and makes the other team WAYY better. it's just an illusion that it gives you an advantage, and it feels good having shiny cards.
Facts
Meanwhile, let it be known that MLB The Show only costs the price of the game to build the best team available.
And yet some people still willing to buy the same game re-skin year by year smh.
Haven't bought a EA game in years, kinda proud.
Fuck that.
Me: What did it cost?
Thanos (after playing fifa): everything.
I feel bad for the kids that grow up with games like this.
"Youve probably heard of EA gate"
Which one?
I have a plan.
if no one buys EA games EA goes bankrupt or they learn, i would love to be a Developers from hell with a "gordon ramsay" exposing this companies greed
You could literally buy like 100 used cars in working condition for the price of a virtual team...
How many celebrations would there be if EA lost the license altogether?
Also I would love a Super Smash Strikers.
Pretty sure there will be a massive celebration
I cried a little when they finally lost the exclusive license for star war games, i have no hope for star wars anymore but atleast now someone who might still give a shit could get their hands on the rights to make a not dog shit star wars game
Have you seen who sponsors football teams? They're all for gambling
Wait does EA really shutdown older games servers that early?
In todays gaming era, 'EA' and 'fair play' should never be matched
When your "optional" purchases are the price of a mortgage or a muscle car, you're really putting the "dream" in dream team.
-EA sales representatives, apparently
Fifa players don't care. They only want to get that Lionel Messi card...
or their 99 David Beckham in FIFA Legends pack
Honestly why the fuck dont people just play that one soccer game that 4chan does their seasonal board cups you can make damn near anything and you dont have to pay 100k to make a good team
But what would Lionel Messi say about this?
exactly , glad ea milk these idiots
@@TheRealRusDaddy Sport title gamers are casuals and mostly don't like video game, just their obsession with the sport and their favorite players. They don't give a single f if what they're buying is anti-consumer or of poor quality.
Did we really need to "expose" it? Pretty sure it's a borderline requirement for a gaming publisher.
List goes on and on
That is literally sounding a lot like gambling to me, maybe more like shopping than gaming, sad
We can deal damage to EA by not buying their games anymore, but people will still throw their money at them, so there's nothing we can do -.- but I've been doing my part, I've not purchased anything from EA lately
More people should take a stand against EA's evil practices and STOP BUYING EA GAMES.
EA: dream team is called such because it’s supposed to be near impossible. Realising a dream isn’t cheap, folks.
What would happen is everyone decided to skip a year of FIFA?
It makes the Genshin Impact Weapons Banner look free to play by comparison
Atleast it stays in one version and is somewhat fun even with gacha since they do give chars on eventsrather than a repacking old wine in new bottle like ea does
@@ak-ub1ym I'm all for defending Genshin but you can not sit there and tell me the weapons banner is anything beyond cruel. I saw what rolling for the Staff of Homa did to people.

"How dare anyone shamefully overcharge other people thousands of dollars for useless digital bullshit! That's out job!!" - EA
And keep in mind, your team is guaranteed to be worthless in a year after EA releases the annual FIFA roster update
@@benn87 They simply don't care.

here we go again
The fact that they release a new edition of the game that resets every year despite being not necessary shows how hopelessly greedy they are. If their game was one that got patched every year and you didn't need to buy it every single time, this might actually be more excusable.
