I keep waiting for the part where he admits that, in order to generate traffic and thus revenue, the press of the digital age has largely resorted to "emotional reporting" - providing the opinion of the reporter with more gravity than the facts themselves. This moves beyond fair and ethical reporting because it makes an emotional appeal to the viewer to accept the reporter's interpretation of the facts. The use of exaggerating adjectives to hype the viewpoint and lend gravity is what children do when tattling on their siblings; it is also unfair reporting. Thus more and more op-ed pieces

I think he hasn't touched that subject because even tho it's a great point the sensationalist nature of news is nothing new or correlated to the digital age; If you look into the history of journalism it's one of the first topics taken in consideration for its influence. The most iconic instance of this phenomenon is from 1973:
“You furnish the pictures and I’ll furnish the war”
      - William Randolph Hearst
it both speaks on fabrication of fake news and on the method he plans on using to convey that message: emotional manipulation.

Every media source should be treated as entertainment and not news.

I'm just imagining some TH-camr reporting war crimes while nonchalantly mining for diamonds on Minecraft.

Go Robert! Wonderful insights, especially the point about being smarter news consumers. We can't do it alone.

I believe one way to get people to become better informed is to make sure they understand how much they are being suckered. That is a big incentive to change.

It's not about censoring the press, but about offering alternative news sources, so that there can be no monopoly on information. Consistency of truthfulness will determine whose news is valued most.

Journalism is dead, Dan Rather killed it. They don't report what doesn't fit the main stream propaganda narrative.

Yeah I agree. I want to be a Journalist because I'm after real, legitimate truth, but the problem is I don't know how to get there, in terms of finding the right place to work with/for. I know it's a bit random for someone commenting on a random video asking for advice, but if you got any I'm all ears.

Man, I really don't agree with you.. but I can't judge it. I will give you a tip, try to read "Why study the media? - Roger Silverstone" and you will understand many things that he said. This is really important, I think this video should be more interesting that many others though. This video should have at least 1 million views, but unfortunately, most of the people are not interested on studying media.

Alex Jones is either crazy or really good at pretensing to be. I think the main reason he got banned was for saying thst sandy hook was a hoax and 0 people were actually killed. People did NOT like that. I'm not for cancel culture, but that crosses the line ha. So technically the platforms he's on have the right to ban him, so he had to go somewhere else.
