Thanks Aussies for helping people of Lao
Thank you so much for helping Laos. They needs as much as they can get. After the war the country never be the same.God bless
More content like this, please! Using modern or low-tech solutions to help people help themselves. This is wonderful.
So bloody awesome. Helping these folk without handouts or dependency- they keep their dignity and get the chance to fund education for next generation.
Great results from knowledge applied to cattle. This is the magic needed to be done in developing countries. a perfect example of how tech and knowledge from developed countries can be incorporated into the development of developing countries. Thank you, guys!!!
What great success stories…I loved this presentation
Such noble project.
Tashi Delek la. Regards from Bhutan ..❤❤
wonderful people.and great idea thank you for helping humanity .
Excellent article and so empowering
Thank you for this coverage on Laos. I am greatful to see the development after 4 decades.
In India, we heavily rely on buffalo milk after cow milk. Even in Northern states, we have more buffalos than cows. We use buffalos for diary over hundreds of years.
Indian don’t drink cow milk… cow is holy animal for indian..
@@karenfreeman4921 they dont eat cow but drink milk.. COw milk
@@karenfreeman4921зачем корова индийцам если даже молоко не пьют, а быки, куда они деваются, нельзя быков есть?
Very nice, In there are plenty of Seaweeds in the Dams and many types of plants that has high nutrients, for example Moringa leaves , River tamarind leaves , Pterocarpus macrocarpus leaves, none poisoning Cassava leaves and many more
Such noble project. Tashi Delek la. Regards from Bhutan ... Excellent article and so empowering.
I know the girl at 17:16 and she is amazing at her work, great to finally see you on camera ❤
What were they doing with all those buffaloes? How did they get hold of the buffaloes in the first place? In India buffalo milk is revered for its thick milk and are milked till the last drop in her udder
It is heart warming to see that Falangs are doing something right for Lao people. I have high hope that this program should work and work very well, and that someday people will find out that dairy cows will produce more milk. BRAVO.
Excelkent program. In Thailand some 5 years ago, I found out about several water buffalo dairies there, dedicated to making mozzarella cheese.
It is possible that these people have been living with the land and relying to agriculture for so many decades, but yet doesn't know how they can profit from their animals. Suddenly, an outsider needs to come to rescue them.. How nifty 😒
Million thanks
Good video.
Issues that should be monitored;
Parasite resistance to chemical wormers. Over time, genetic resistance can be lost.
Excessive buffalo population can lead to deforestation as feed requirements increase.
They take care of these buffaloes very carefully
congratulations
Making the manure toxic for worms can be a problem - earthworms are also killed by most chemical wormers. They need to be aware of more natural wormers that are not toxic to earthworms.
what are the blocks made of
The lick blocks, the color and flavour is coming from molasses. Sea weed, salt and other trace mineral can be added. Great for animals where their diet might be lacking in something.
I hope I find such a food block in Indonesian market. That's Excellent for fattening farm industry here. 🤔
I immediately think about mazalela cheese and buffalo 🦬 burgers. At Catalina island, they have bison 🦬 burger. But i think Lao are not big meat eater, so maybe just for the milk and cheese 🍕

❤❤❤❤❤❤
Does the constant use of anti-worming agents in the lick blocks not increase parasitic worm affect in the long-run from resistance? (Spoiler alert: it does)
Got a better idea?
💖💖💖💖💖💖
Add Azolla microphylla as supplemental feed to the system using the manure to fertilize the the Azolla
Cool
❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
3:40 they also believe that airplanes hatch from eggs???🤣🤣
Very impressive. Concentrated farming shall increase the yield of buffaloes in the long run. However you may take lessons from Indian Dairy Farmers as there are numerous breeds, farming patters, breeding methods adopted in India. Cheers!
They can import better breeds of buffalo that gives 25 to 35 k.g. milk per day from north India
They have imported some improved stock from Sri Lanka.
Think there could be a problem in regards to the people who are intolerant... As the community isn't used to milk with lactose...
Yoghurt might be the way to go. I had some of the best Banana Lassi in Laos.
Are the buffalos mated with genetically modified bull ?
Indian Buffalo breed like Murrah, Jafarabadi best milk breed Buffalo in the world...
As I recall, there is some prejudice against the buffalo as a filthy animal in Thailand.
about the introductory emotional comments ... one key item is missing : in 1960 Laos had 2 million people, now they are more than 7 millions. Why don't they implement strict birth limitation as China did ?
That would be a BIG mistake. You're talking about 63yrs span, from 1960- 2023. Look at China one child policy. Their population is shrinking big time, The Chinese govt has been begging the people to have more kids in the last 4yrs. That needle hasn't moved.
It really worked for China didn't it. In 1960 Thailand had a population of 26M and now have 71M.. Vietnam had 32M now 97M. The whole worlds population has significantly increased, why are you singling out Laos?
@@NowinLao because the movie and the " emotional intoduction " are about Lao, are not they ? ... but you are correct, Thailand is as mas as Lao ... only the western world and China are doing the right thing about demography
This is such a wonderful story. So cool to hear. Susie is a poineer woman with a heart of gold! I am a Laotian from Wisconsin USA (the Diary capitol). Although, If they really want milk and cheese, they should get some diary cows to breed.
Google it. Laos birth rate is just above replacement (2.50). So it's not a big deal. Just need the people to get richer, but the government is corrupt.
Indian breed mura from hariyana state which give 15 lts of milk improved breed
So who is paying for the cost of those blocks that doesn't have any idea what is going on?
It's free for the farmer. It creates a carbon offset. The offset is purchased by western companies wanted to reduce their emitions footprint.
The Anglophone after killing millions of Laotians still go there despite Laotians are Anglo-phobic and never forget their enemies.
Just don't use them ,don't be abusive to animals like Australia is,responsible growth is all u need.
Australia uses most technology in the world for animal safety. Whats wrong with you?
We got the most litres any buffalo can give .
High percentage of SEAns are milk intolerant. Its not a matter of ignorance why milk is not popular source of protein. We get ours from tofu and meat. But go ahead, have milk for falangs. Your tourists will help the Lao economy.
Something tells me the cardboard box isn't best for the buffalo's health
Buffalo in laos are not dairy breed they produce very little milk that can only sustain their calves and these Buffalo's are not much tamed so that they can be milked easily
lol, they don't know what they're doing. Import cattle from India or Pakistan. In south India, we have the same looking buffalo.
Import seman or embryo
Buffalo here gives 25+litres milk
Why you should come to India if you wanna receive milk from buffalo. We get most of the milk from buffalo.
They don’t even know the milk can help the people kids there by healthier
except almost all south east Asians are lactose intolerant...
Are Laotians even capable of digesting milk? If they've never drank it, their digestive systems might not be capable of processing it, they might be lactose intolerant
besides the point, can still sell in the export dairy market. Also, yes south east asians are adopting dairy product well these days. it's very popular.
Fermentation helps with that
Buffalo milk has less lactose than cow milk
They must try Pakistan world best buffalo breed neli ravi best for milk ND meat as well
Murrah breed is the best for milk.
Murrah breed is better than Neeli Ravi.
chyna will jealous for this.!
I had laotion friends at work in Sydney but they sent him back he couldn't send money back home no more.
I am going to get downvoted by some well-intentioned do-gooders, but really, we should all be highly suspicious of any effort to move a population to a "more western diet." All the fat people in the world are westerners or people who've been introduced to a western diet (see the middle class Chinese). In America in particular, people have terribly cramped mouths and impacted wisdom teeth from years of eating soft baby foods, eventually forcing them to have their wisdom teeth surgically removed. Go and walk around Vientiane and see how many people are overweight -- there are virtually none and even less so in the countryside. Then go and ask those same people how many of them have their wisdom teeth removed, also none. To say nothing of hypertension and cholesterol and other diet related problems.
The intention here is to provide protein to the children of Laos , especially in the rural areas where malnutrition is rampant. No one is trying to westernize their diet. People in the Indian subcontinent also consume milk , does that categorize them as having a western diet ? Please do not bring up these conspiracy theories into such issues. If anything the efforts of these Australians should be commended and appreciated.
Very surprising that they don’t use the milk from water buffalo!!!
ಎಮ್ಮೆ ಭಾರತದ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಾಕುಪ್ರಾಣಿ
If you work on breeding , then look into Indian breed e.g murrha , jafrabadi..etc
When will the animals capture humans and steal their milk I can’t wait for the day
Buffalo milk is too rich in fat for humans, good luck to helpless guests at your Luang Prabang restaurant.
I think the 'helpless guests' will be fine. People around the world have been having buffalo cheese for 100s of years.
great but use machine to milk the buffalo it will be great.
Buffalo almost go extinct in thailand
She is not telling the truth. I was in Laos last week, travelled from city to city, Town to Town, i did not see any hunger children
You never travelled far then. Name the provinces and villages you passed through, and not the tourist hot spots.. ?
The carbon credit scam.. nice..
@lachlanoma8236 they sell the so-called carbon credits to counties like China so they can offset their carbon footprint. It's a scam.. just upset I didn't come up with the idea 1st. Clowns like Al Gore are lining their pockets while flying on private jets to Davos.. Hahaha!
If it works to help developing countries improve their livelihood and health I am not complaining.
@playlisttarmac all it does is allow developers countries to sell their carbon credits to developed ountries so they can produce more carbon. So in a way it can help developed countries, but it does nothing to actually help the environment.
@lachlanoma8236 oh I get it.. and so do most with half a brain cell.. if Global warming is such a threat, why does Obummer own multi million dollar beach front homes in Hawaii and Martha's Vinyard? Hahaha! Scam!
@@HKTjohnnywalker I do not disagree about the environment part. Our environments on earth are multiple complex systems (I work in biological fields). For me carbon credits are an oversimplified company feel good activity that can positively impact some but not all those complex systems as long as it is not broken by corruption or ineptness. My first reaction to this story was to laugh and say well that is at least 1 good use for carbon credits. The hypocrisy is deep when some forests get planted for carbon credits and are not looked after = dead saplings that find it hard to grow into a tree = how on earth is that helping carbon sequestration.
Aussies are doing a great thing. This should improve the lives of villagers for sure. However, there isn't much hope for the country of Laos as it is already fully ensnared, and debt trapped by China.
Get buffallo from indias haryana and punjab. U get upto 25 ltrs
